It has only been open for about two years, which made me realize I may have actually ordered from this chef years ago--maybe 4 to 6 years back. From what I remember, he originally started his business out of his apartment. It definitely felt a little sketchy at first, until you met him. Once he brought out the order, you could tell right away he was a kind, hardworking person. Ignore the fact that Koba is inside a gas station. This is the best sushi you can get in this area by far and definitely one of my top 3 in the southwest Houston area for reasonably priced sushi. Most of the naming of their sushi rolls is unique, so be sure to read through the descriptions to find what you like. Portion sizes are HUGE so you will probably over order on your first visit. Pricing seems pretty standard, but when you see the size of the rolls (especially the hand rolls), you will be shocked. I really like some of the unique combinations they have (I have never had plantain or kiwi in sushi, but it's so good!). The staff is very friendly, and they keep the place very clean, too. My current favorites are the Nara, Yokohama, Kashiwa, Alief (similar to shaggy dog), and the spicy chopped scallop hand roll. They sometimes garnish the plates with seaweed salad which is a nice little surprise. I work just 5 minutes away, so I will definitely be frequenting this place for lunch. They also have hot foods, but I haven't tried them yet since I like the sushi so much. read more

Sushi in a gas station? Don't knock it till you try it! Koba is a hidden gem at one of the most random places to get sushi at. However, I love unexpected things and the quality and taste of the sushi was surprising! Upon looking at the menu, the prices are fantastic! 6 pieces of salmon sashimi for $8, what a steal! The rolls are humongous and creative, the chef even made a cute butterfly out of carrots. The service was like any other restaurant, we got our waters, wasabi, ginger, plates, and our waters were always refilled. Honestly, I think eating here is ideal because if you want a variety of drinks or any more snacks to accompany your meal, just get out of your seat! My friends and I have been using Koba for a few years now with great success! They have delivered anywhere from Cypress to the Energy Corridor to Washington to Westbury with no issues (except traffic delays). Sometimes we get the boat for special occasions - they will arrange to come back to pick up the boat - but usually we get platters which still look great. Nice presentation and fresh quality. I contact them via whatsapp and pay via Venmo but they have additional options for contact and payment also. When I tell you I accidentally came upon this place....and so glad I did! My kids and I just happened to stop at this gas station (called Now & Forever) because we just came from the park up the street and was thirsty. I immediately noticed the posters for Koba outside the gas station and my first thought was "Wait...there's a sushi place in here??" I opened the doors and immediately saw the immaculate sushi that was sitting.upon a table some customers were enjoying. I never picked up a menu so fast!! Lol Everything I ordered was delicious. Koba Sushi deserves 10 stars! I have consistently been ordering from Koba for over a year now and it's been a delicious adventure. I am happy to see the growth and popularity of this company over the year. The pictures speak for itself! This is a Sushi Delivery service that delivers sushi [and more] to your doorstep or desired location. Currently servicing select Houston areas, Sugar Land, and Katy areas with $5 delivery fee. Delivery fee may vary on location and minimum purchase may be required if outside their servicing area so inquire directly for more information. I had a friend order for delivery in Pearland. The current procedure is to either call, text, or email Koba for your order at least 3 hours in advance. I have even ordered 24hours in advance, especially for weekend deliveries as it does get busy and he has "sold out" of delivery time spots. I prefer to text Koba with my desired date and time for delivery, along with my order. Koba will confirm delivery time/ date and pricing. I do recommend to give a 30 min cushion time for delivery. Example, if you want to eat at 7pm, request a 6:30 delivery time. Or, request an earlier time to ensure it arrives prior to your desired meal time. [Consider peak and traffic time]. The food is still amazingly good after being refrigerated for some time prior to your meal. I have refrigerated it for a couple hours and remove 15 min prior to consuming. Do what works for you! After receiving the bill, I would Zelle him payment. Koba does accept other payments such as Venmo or Cash. Koba sushi is very creative and open to custom orders. Koba has made accommodations to my order and taken my sushi vision and brought it to life. Do not hesitate to ask and find out his daily fresh fish. I am a huge raw fish fan but he does have plenty of cooked sushi items. Some 'off menu' items I love to order are: - Combo Udon Noodles - Seafood/ Combo Fried Rice - Beef Tataki - Tekkadon (tuna or salmon/both sushi over rice) - Raw Gecko roll - Rice-less roll Koba does rolls, hand rolls, sushi, and sashimi. Koba is very generous on their serving and stuff their Handrolls to an extent that it's spilling out! When I go out now, I am so disappointed and wish I had Koba's Handrolls. The rolls, sushi, sashimi are thick cuts of fish. The quality and quantity of food definitely exceeds the price you pay. I also need to rave about his sauces. The Spicy Ponzu is off the chain! His Baja sauce is creamy and subtle sauce for your sushi rolls. I always request for the spicy ponzu and I haven't found anyone better.
