    J. Joseph Salon does it again! It's been over a year since I met Parker and established myself as a…read moreJJS regular, so I think it's time I give them a quick updated review! Today I had the pleasure of having my hair done by Meykinna! While she is starting out as a Jr. stylist, you would never know. Girl is a pro. She did a rockstar job covering my grays, framing my face, trimming the dead ends, and adding the red glaze I've been doing for around 6 months. The blowout makes it all worth it! Today's color/cut is pictured with the blue top. If you mention my name (Krystle M. From Yelp), as a first time customer of Meykinna's, you will get $20.00 off a color service or $5.00 off a haircut. You're welcome! Oh and don't forget to try the mouthwash in the bathroom! Why I felt inclined to add that detail I'm not too sure but I found it useful!

She was able to work with me, she followed my request, quickly dried a part of my hair so I could see it and when I went to pick up my kid, I realized the color that *I* picked, I decided I didn't like. When I returned, she was understanding and somehow figured out what I really wanted. When she turned the chair around so I could see the result, I cried. She was super kind, super patient, wizard-like. Thank you Ashley for making this mom feel great about her hair. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Wait, wait, one more thing, make sure you book with Emily. Now that you have booked your appointment, let me tell you about my favorite massage therapist in the whole world, Emily. She is absolutely incredible, she is knowledgeable and she uses a holistic approach. She knows what muscles attach to what and how to alleviate tension in one area which then releases the tension in your trouble areas. She is kind and considerate and constantly checks in to see how you are doing. Side note, the heated table is incredible. One thing to note, I am an 6'2 athlete with extremely tight muscles, a herniated disc, and two bulging discs. I come in as twisted as a pretzel and I leave as limber as a ballerina, picture that. If she can accomplish that with me, she can meet whatever needs you have. I love my massages so much that I booked my wife a surprise 90 minute massage and hour long facial. She left feeling so refreshed and rejuvenated, we are customers for life. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you feel taken care of and pampered. The front desk is amazing, the owner is kind, and Emily is extremely talented. If you didn't follow my directions in the beginning of this review, follow it now, go book your appointment today. Food is so good I cried. Came for magical dining month which I almost forgot was a thing. What a…read moretreat! $40 for an entree, app, and a dessert? Feels like I'm back in the early 2000's! We dug into the Lechon and the Ropa vieja. Two Cuban staples. And we were not disappointed! Cesar salad was ok, I did like the dressing but not a fan of the bitter seasonal greens, lots of people like that though just my preference. The ceviche though with the mustard greens was chefs kiss! Overall the feel of the place is cozy yet vibrant with quick service for drinks that keep you entertained. Parking is an absolute nightmare at peak times but that's the price we pay for milk district vibes! Regardless, I'll be back for more, if I can find parking ;)

We didn't have reservations, so we put our name down and were told the wait would be about an hour. Luckily, it ended up being closer to 30 minutes, not bad at all! While we waited, we peeked at the menu and decided to go with the Magical Dining menu. We'd been here before with friends for drinks and dessert, but this was our first time actually sitting down for dinner. To start, I got the fish dip and my husband got the ceviche with plantain chips. Both were really good and had us excited for the rest of the meal. For my entrée, I went with the mojo chicken. It had great flavor, but unfortunately it was a little too dry for me, so I probably wouldn't order that one again. My husband definitely won this round with the ropa vieja, it was really good! Of course, we had to make room for dessert. The orange tres leches was delicious and honestly, tres leches is always a good idea in my book. We also tried the maduro bread pudding. It was okay, but a little harder than I expected, so the tres leches was definitely my favorite. The space itself is small, cozy, and super cute, and the service was amazing. Everyone we interacted with was so nice and welcoming. There were a few hits and misses with the food, but overall we had a really nice night and I'd definitely come back.
