Over the past 10 years the price of a mani/pedi has almost doubled. This review is to boast about the quality of care provided by Bali Nail Spa. Bali has been located in that same spot in the plaza off Van Dyke and Dale Mabry since I worked at the Super Cuts next door while in high school in 2001-2002. I went for a pedicure this past Tuesday and was modestly talked into a manicure as well. I decided on gel since I only go to a salon for my nails once a year. It was a treat myself kind of day. And treat myself, I did. I enjoyed a serene spa pedicure with polish of a sparkly purple color by OPI called "Feel the Chemis-tree!" Two days later, during Thanksgiving meal prep, part of my right thumb's nailpolish lifted (vegetable peeling) and I panicked. As soon as I returned to the salon on Black Friday, they quickly fixed the nail and sent me on my happy way. The vibe here just felt rushed and not relaxing. Plus the nail tech I had cut my toes! She nipped both my big toes when trimming the skin around the nails and tried to hide by putting a cotton ball on them and pressing. No sorry or anything. Like umm I felt you cut me. She eventually went and got the disinfectant to clean the area. But the way she acted, it was like she was scared of getting scolded because of her error. So given this I kept my mouth shut. Fountain's nail shop while browsing through the elk fell in love with some of the artwork they have done on prior client. I opted to get a signature pedicure which my nail tech was very detailed. pedicure was very relaxing and by far one of the best I've had. My nails came out beautiful I have attached a photo below. I found my new Pedicure place! About a month ago, my regular nail place closed without notice. Even through two owners, I had been going for about 10 years. I don't do manicures, but I do keep up with pedicures once a month so I knew I had to find a new spot, after quite a bit of searching and reading reviews, I found Bali, in the same plaza as the Publix we use! My experience started with a very warm welcome from Trish! I had made an appointment over the phone, and I was immediately assured to my seat after choosing a nail color. Sadly, I cannot remember the name of the lady who worked with me! She was absolutely wonderful. Upon leaving, I immediately booked my next appointment and will be seeing her every four weeks. I finally found my go-to nail spot! Lucy did my nails and she was gentle, payed close attention to details and was fairly quick. No nail tech in the past year has been able to satisfy me with my nail shape and quality of work but Lucy has! However, the wait was an hour long and I had gotten there at around 4pm on a Friday with no appointment. So it is understandable and expected due to being after people get off work. I've been going to this place for about 5 months and i've had a pretty mediocre experience. I've noticed the same things wrong with my nails everytime I went and my cuticles are always burning, dry and peeled, the shape I always ask for (square) is barely a square, and the amount of filing they do on my nails is insane. Looking at my nails is like looking at a piece of paper. They're always so thin and honestly just straight up ugly. The price is pretty okay and reasonable but I do not recommend. read more

i went and got my nails and toes done and within a week the nails are falling off and the gel toe nail polish is chipping. I called and made an appointment for 6:00 PM with no problem for the same day. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted and allowed time to select what color I wanted. They had me sign in on an iPad as you collect points each time you come to earn money off of future appointments like a loyalty program. They seemed busier than expected for a Tuesday evening but handled each client professionally. I couldn't be happier with the way my nails came out and I have to say I paid much less than expected! I loved coming here for pedicures but the last person who gave me one was rushing through it and even hurt me twice I was bleeding from the side of my toe and on my ankle because when she was using the foot scraper on my feet she went so fast that she scraped the side of my ankle, and when I had to put my foot back in the water it burned so bad because of the products that were inside the water (I choose the volcano pedicure). I really wanted to like this place. Their prices seemed fair, they're close to my house and smack in the middle of the Publix plaza filled with other places I visit often. I have a salon that I am pretty loyal to but after leaving with several cuts all over my fingers last time, I decided to try another place. I walked in, it was outdated but not dirty or anything. Maybe I should state that I am a clean freak, but as an aesthetician, I know how important cleanliness is when you're dealing with skin and nails. Anyway, the chairs were torn and the manicure stations were cluttered and dusty. The staff greeted me with a smile and there was no wait. The nail buffer machine parts not appear to be sanitized, nor did the cuticle scissors now that I think about it. [insert vomiting emoji] She used the same brown on my hands that she used to "clean" the dusty desk. I really should have left because I was grossed out but in addition to being a germaphobe, I also hate hurting people's feelings or causing a scene. Additionally, I'm not sure if I got a dip manicure (what I asked for) or a gel manicure. It seemed to be some sort of weird combination. All in all, it looks okay, a little sloppy. I guess we'll see how long it lasts but it doesn't really matter, I won't be back. The whole experience just gave me the hebee jeebies. Two stars because the staff is really nice! ~UPDATED REVIEW~ I was contacted by the owner, Trish, who had me come back in and have my nails redone for free. She really took her time and was so sweet. I opted for white this time because we both agreed it was more opaque and would maybe look better- but she had selected other dark green shades that were more pigmented too in case I wanted that instead. Highly recommend going in and asking for Trish :) ------------------- On July 3rd, my boyfriend and I came in for pedicures and I got a full set as well. Staff was nice and accommodating and the location was very clean, however, my nails look horrible. My toes were very well done but I cannot say the same for my fingernails. The acrylic is thick, lumpy, and is hooked at the ends. I asked for a french tip with green instead of white. The line work is so sloppy and uneven, and you can see every brushstroke. The tip of the french takes up half my nail as well which is super unflattering. The gel is lumpy as well because the man painting my nails kept placing the UV light on top of my fingers, causing it to scrape. My cuticles were not pushed back or trimmed at all and they look very rough and dry. I've inserted pictures just to show how poor they look. I will try to come back in and ask for them to fix my nails today since they were closed on the 4th. I will update my review. read more
