Today I had the pleasure of having my hair done by Meykinna! While she is starting out as a Jr. stylist, you would never know. Girl is a pro. She did a rockstar job covering my grays, framing my face, trimming the dead ends, and adding the red glaze I've been doing for around 6 months. The blowout makes it all worth it! I walked in to the salon on a whim and was lucky enough to get paired with Ashley. I had a huge ask, fit me into her schedule but I'd have to leave half way to get my child. She was able to work with me, she followed my request, quickly dried a part of my hair so I could see it and when I went to pick up my kid, I realized the color that *I* picked, I decided I didn't like. When I returned, she was understanding and somehow figured out what I really wanted. When she turned the chair around so I could see the result, I cried. Jeremy is here! You should schedule with Jeremy 100% ..all the time. No, wait, never mind.,.that's going to limit my time choices with him.. schedule with someone else!! Just as with the other JJoesph location, you walk in and instantly know it will be a relaxing time- the high end, but comfortable decor welcomes you. But never snobby, snooty nonsense you feel in other salons-really down to earth peeps here. Products always available but never hard pushy sales. In no covid times an offer or wine, coffee or water. (I am still recommending an espresso machine...hint hint, oh and a jar full of Oreos) Covid, you are greeted at the door, mask on, covid screen then a temp check- above and beyond to make their guests feel safe. I brought a few pics, here's is what I am thinking...will it work? Will that color make my skin glow or look washed out. Honest answers and guidance- if it'll look good they will tell you! Same goes for special occasion up do's. I have watched stylists work intensity to give options ideas.. If your idea can't be done today, they will tell you why (usually your hair can't do that...yet..but here is the plan) and then the mixology magic customized to make you feel amazing as you leave. Complete rip off. Worst customer service. Girls at the front desk are sooooooo mean... Stylists are not experienced at all. The lady who did my hair doesnot know what is the meaning of lukewarm water. This salon doesnot carry plastic hair rollers for blow dry. Also they don't have big round brush for blow dry. What a messed up place. She tried to roll my hair and used pins which took longer time than using iron rod cos it costs extra but she spent more time on my hair. So stupid. I give this place 0 ratings. Very bad experience. The owner/manager doesnot seem to know how to blow dry. I was shocked how are they running the business. I will Stick to Dry bar on Carrollwood. And suggest these people to get a blow dry service there. What a shame read more

Pretty pathetic when I'm told for days that the salon manager is too busy to talk with me on the phone knowing I had an issue in his salon. Funny thing about not having time to speak with an unhappy client is that the "manager" Jeremy Bisono, the stylist that botched my hair Lauren, and the other stylist that presented herself as a manager and also chopped my hair trying to fix it @ Ashley Petersen all had time today to immediately block me/ my post on Instagram that I tagged them in showing all the photos and details of my horrible experience. Funny no time to address the issue but plenty of time to tend to social media, hmmm pretty pathetic! Blonding/ highlights and cut gone horribly wrong. At consult with level 4 stylist Lauren _locksoflauren_ I was quoted $300-$400 for balayage, possible root smudging, or possible all over color with highlights and a cut. I received partial highlights and cut for $325 and they darkened my hair and butchered the cut. My hair was below my shoulders when I walked into that salon and it was blonde with some regrowth at the roots but what I left with was a dark "Karen" mullet cut. I was told the Manager @hairbyjeremy would contact me however after several attempts at reaching said manager I have been told he is "too busy" to talk with me and all they can offer is for me to go back in to try and fix what's left of my butchered grey zebra striped hair. I have requested a refund with Alexis Mulberry and Ashley Peterson hair_by_petersen who also presented herself as a manager and attempted to half fast "fix" my cut while I was stil at the salon, however I have been told no refund only additional services to try and fix my hair will be offered. Well my scalp was burning while in the chair with them trying to correct the color. After 5 hours I had partial highlights, toner, 6 shampoos to include several with clarifying shampoo, and 2 treatments to try and remove the toner. At the end of it all my scalp was burning, my hair was thinned out, and the base of my skull was sore for the next 3 days due to never having a towel under my neck while being at the wash station for so long. NO! I will not go back in for more useless corrections. Unless you can give me my old hair back there is nothing that can be done to correct this. REFUND MY MONEY!!! 12/14/2022**** I've been waiting patiently since my appt. last Saturday 12/10/2022 to here back from sr manager Jeremy from the Lutz salon but was told today he is "too busy" to contact me. After paying over $300 for a botched cut and color you'd think the manager could find time. I have thus far been told I need to drive an hour to go in and talk to whoever is there about fixing what little bit of hair is left on my head. Ummm no, I'm not wasting more time after being there over 5 hrs on Saturday and more money on gas to discuss what needs to happen next. J Joseph Salon is definitely a high quality salon. For a college student like me, the prices are a bit steep, but you get what you pay for! I found this salon through Instagram, specifically through the account of their hairstylist Mikayla (@mikcapelo). I have seen Mikayla here twice now and she is an absolute hair goddess! She is completely transparent with pricing, her opinion on what you should do with your hair, and will follow exactly what you want done. Both times, I've gone much blonder and she made sure my hair wasn't too dry or damaged. Mikayla is extremely friendly, and makes great conversation while doing great work. The salon carries great products for you to purchase as well. I now strictly use the Pureology Hydrate Conditioner. I also use the Pureology purple shampoo to tone. These products are sooo great for dyed hair, especially blonde! I have recommended this salon to many of my friends and family, as I had such a great experience. Great first experience! Came here for a cut & color for myself and a hair cut for my daughter. The salon was accommodating & kind! I can't remember the name of the beautiful woman who did my daughter's hair, but she was wonderful. She washed, cut and styled her hair-my daughter loved her! (She's 10 for reference) Bitty was my stylist, and she was awesome. She's detail oriented, professional and incredibly sweet. She made sure to ask if I needed anything periodically, as I had quite a lengthy process. She was kind enough to discuss different options we could do with my hair, pricing, and recommendations- she knows her stuff! They offer complimentary beverages, the atmosphere is hip & classy. Niniveth is the sweetest thing you will ever meet! She cut and styled my hair perfectly. The salon is very open but still cozy. It's located in a strip plaza so there is plenty of parking. Even though the sign on the door says they take walking, I would highly suggest that you call ahead and book your appointments because they can get busy. Great cut and such a comfortable environment. I've been going to J Joseph for about 9 months. I referred my sister and started bringing my daughter and both of my sons. I like my highlights and cut.. I really can't complain about the stylist. However at my last visit I asked to use my $20 thank you referral coupon for my daughter's cut and highlights. They refused to let me use it and said it could only be used for "my' services. The coupon says nothing about that, and I asked the receptionist to make an exception for my minor child since we are the same family after all and I really wanted to just get the coupon out of my purse! Asked for an inch cut off with long layers... she curled my hair so I couldn't really tell what the cut was like until I wet my hair and blow dried it straight at home. She cut off way too much length and I have super choppy layers. I have thin hair and can now see every layer. It will take me forever to grow the length back out... Was looking for a new salon closer to home and someone recommended a stylist here. I've been getting highlights for 15+ years with no issue. Went here and a few days later my scalp is flaking, peeling and generally a disaster. Called and was told that despite I have not changed shampoo or having any other changes, besides trying their salon, I was just having a reaction and it was ultimately not their problem. After spending $250+ only to end up with a completely damaged scalp which other stylists stated was due to a chemical burn is devastating. They refunded the glaze ($30) and basically said better luck next time. It was also not in good taste to talk negatively about "guests" or sales quotas at the shampoo stations. read more

I made an appt for me and my daughters here. BIG MISTAKE. It doesn't matter how experienced the hairdresser says she is you pay more for their experience but they do not know what they are doing! We wanted blonde highlites and the hairdresser darkened our hair we could barely see the highlites. My daughters have very curly hair and I was charged 50$ each haircut and all they did was clip around the bottom WHILE DRY! took like 2 seconds and that was it. That's not a haircut. Plus they tell you they need to put something called olaplex on and it's 50$ for one application! Didn't do anything to our hair. We got 2 HALF HEAD highlites and haircuts. Plus my younger daughter did the wash out color which I was charged 250$ for to do around the bottom only. It washed out in one day when I was told it would be a month before that would happen. They did not know how to blow dry and straighten my daughters curly hair properly. They left with their hair all poofy looking ridiculous. And all together for that I paid 700$!!!!! I WILL NEVER go back to any j Joseph salon. All they want is your money. The service and the expertise are NOT WORTH WHAT THEY CHARGE! SHOP AROUND there are so many better places around. I made an appointment for their special of highlights and cut. When I got there the stylist said she was more experienced and she shouldn't have been booked for the special. Her price was $50 higher. Instead I just got a cut. I wanted about an inch shorter with shaping. What I wound up with was 4 inches shorter and choppy layers throughout. It was such a mess, the manager fixed one side, but when I called the next day to have the other side fixed, she refused. I'll never go back there. This is the second time it's happened to me.
