We stayed 3 nights in June 2026. We had a deluxe cabin by the playground. These cabins are in a great spot, especially if you have kids who will be playing or jumping, this is a great location. The cabin was small but great for the 3 of us. It was relatively clean. Some hair and dust in the corners and some hair in the shower, but it wasn't bad. The bedding and towels were clean. Overall, we were very happy with the cabin and would definitely stay in the same cabin. We arrived one day after a really bad storm went through. The water and electric wasn't working in part of the campground, so we weren't able to use the pool which was a bummer. We weren't able told that the levels had to be checked after the loss of power and water, but when we left Thursday, it still was not open. Not their fault, but it was a bummer. We were hoping it would be checked quicker so we could at least try it out. There is a pond for fishing and we saw a lot of people catching. There also was a pond for swimming. The playground was nice and I appreciate that they put down rocks instead of mulch. For the littles, the rocks are just as much fun as the playground itself. We spent a ton of time at the playground. The air filled bouncing pad was nice also. At least once per day it deflated, but once notified they would send someone to reset it. My kiddo spent all his time there or at the playground. The gaga pit and the little dirt bike track have not been kept up with. We only saw kids once at the bike track. This is why I took away 2 stars. This was our first time at this campground and will be the last. There is so much potential but it seemed like nothing was really taken care of. There also was garbage all over that wasn't picked up the whole time we were there. On our second day, I was bored watching my kiddo jump so I went around that area and picked it all up myself. I understand it's hard to keep staff these days, but the garbages were getting changed every couple days so that person who drove/walked by the garbage on the ground could have easily done what I did. There were many things that just weren't fixed. There are only so many hours in a day and people can only do so much, but there were so many little things that could be done to make the campground cleaner and more inviting. Clean the bathrooms, clean the property, mow.. it all seemed so run down. There was nothing going on at the clubhouse and when asked about kids activities, we were told there weren't any. We have been to many "family" campgrounds and they usually always have activities. Even some state parks do. Again, probably a staffing issue, but we were disappointed. I may have missed it, but I don't think there was any food or even ice cream available which was a bummer. On our last evening, it was raining and my kiddo wanted s'mores. We were going to attempt to make a fire anyways, but our fire pit filled with water. There was no drainage. He then requested ice cream. It was our last night, so we walked up to the store to get him an ice cream from the freezer. They closed at 5. We had to drive 15 minutes for ice cream. I'd think the store would be open at least into the early evening in the summer time. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience and the cabin was nice. We enjoyed our time, but we won't be back. read more

This is a top 3 KOA for us. The park was well taken care of and very visually appealing. When we pulled into our spot it was super muddy and had alot of standing water. Called the office and they were more than happy to let us move. All the facilities were clean and the kids really enjoyed the playground but especially the jump pad. Too bad we didn't schedule during the weekend. Seems like they have alit going on. There are ALOT of seasonals and all keep there sites looking nice. If we're coming back through the area we will definitely be staying there again. Also, first park I've seen that had a dog wash station....very cool. Can't wait to see what they do with the old RV Park they got across the street. read more

If you have kids, this place is an amazing option. So many activities, giant jump pillow, pond with giant inflatable slide, kayaking, pool, fishing, gaga ball- the kids were busy morning to night. I appreciated coin laundry, the proximity to I -90 (this was a very easy drive from Buffalo, NY.) It is very dog-friendly, some sites also have dog runs, and there is a large dog park. We stayed in a "deluxe cabin", fortunately family was nearby at a back-in site with their trailer. The pictures were taken on our way out, so please note the double bed was made when we arrived, the bunks had no sheets on them. Linens (sheets, pillows, towels) were provided in the room; I tend to leave things disheveled because I hate leaving them on the floor, but I don't want to make the bed neatly and have it inadvertently left for the next guest.. There is not a stove/oven/cooktop in this cabin. If it's pouring, like it was during much of our stay, be sure to plan your meals elsewhere, otherwise cook in the microwave and eat on the beds. We ate at our family's trailer, and that worked out. I'm not sure what we would have done if we didn't have the option. This particular cabin has a deck outside, the grill is not covered, and neither is the table. What you see in the photos is what you get, it's like a small motel room with a mini fridge, microwave, and a coffee maker. I did have to sweep when we arrived, but it was mostly rogue dog hair and sand on the floor. I had to laugh, there's a sign above the sink threatening to charge you extra if you don't leave the room as you found it. We didn't bring our dog, so we couldn't leave it the way we found it! Either way, it's camping, it will ever be as clean as home. We met up here with family from Michigan, so this was about half way for both of us. Overall we really enjoyed this place. We'd definitely camp here again if we have another cabin option or a trailer. read more

Families BEWARE: My family has been camping at Thompson KOA for the last 6 years. We loved this family oriented campground because of all the amenities and activities they offered for our kids but most importantly the friendly, helpful and respectful owners and staff. Unfortunately this is no longer true of our favorite KOA. The new management treats guests with disrespect and the only solution they offer (repeatedly) was for my family to leave. Our first night we had dark brown water come through our RV's filtration system from their water hookup. They said this would only happen once as it was due to sediments in the well....this occurred multiple times a day throughout our 5 night stay. My uncle (who both owns our RV and made our reservation) came to check the filters on the RV, due to the brown water, and was followed by management to our site and ordered to pay $10 for a visitor pass. After explaining why he was here and explaining he is only here for a few minutes to check the filters they became very disrespectful and told us we could leave if we were not willing to pay. This was the start of the very rude and disrespectful interactions from management. We loved Thompson due to is close vicinity to home and the ability to have our family visit for dinner and s'mores. We have had my daughter's birthday party here the last few years as well so in anticipation of this and to follow the new "rules" we purchased ANOTHER camp site. We were given 2 parking passes for that site and when I gave one to my father in law (who was staying for the night) the owner confiscated our passes and made them pay $10 for another visitor pass. They yelled and argued with me, my family and our guests, all who paid for passes to enter and once again threatened kicking us out. We rented an RV site, tent camp site and a deluxe cabin to accommodate our guests and work within the new rules. We paid for each guest pass per their requirements. We are not loud, we clean up after ourselves, respect quiet hours and practice campground etiquette. This is our favorite week of the year. Due to the new managements lack of respect and complete and utter rudeness we will absolutely NEVER come back here. I hope that the owners take a look at their practices and treat people with kindness and respect. read more

This is the nicest campground I have ever stayed at. It's beautiful, clean and just plain charming. The staff was really friendly. The owners are onsite and working from sunup to sundown. We stayed in the smaller deluxe cabin that slept 5. It was spotlessly clean. I usually bring the following to rentals but they were provided here: linens, blankets, pillows, rug by front door, coffee filters, eating utensils, serving spoon, pancake flipper, paring knife, plates, drinking glasses, coffee mugs, can opener, napkins, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels (bath, hand & dish), washcloths, toilet paper, dish soap, broom, dust pan. We took our dog and everybody was good about keeping their dogs on leashes or confined. The dog play areas were clean and well kept up. On Saturday they organize activities like nature art, scavenger hunt, tractor "train ride" which my kids liked. We rented a golf cart for our stay. which was reasonably priced & lots of fun (tip: reserve before you go). We were really impressed with the whole place & would definitely go back. read more

My new favorite KOA in Ohio anyway. Stayed here in a deluxe cabin and enjoyed every minute. It sure beats a hotel any day. Quieter, more spacious and plenty to do. You can't beat having a private bedroom for parents and a bunk room for the kids. Need to cook? You have plenty of options from either your microwave in your private kitchen or a gas grill on your private patio. They even have a charcoal grill and a fire pit if you prefer that. The play ground was great for the kids, we had ponds for fishing, and a pool for swimming. We are already planning our next time to come here! We can't wait read more

Our family of 7 has frequented this campground for several years now and our kids love it here. However, we had finally made a reservation (a year in advance) for a Halloween weekend 2020. Of course due to COVID, things weren't going to be as planned and the campground wanted us to know (sent via email), to make a decision our about personal reservation. So we decided to cancel our reservation for this year (already have a 2021 Halloween reservation), hoping things will be back to normal next year! What they didn't tell me (all via email when I asked), is that they wouldn't provide me any kind of refund OR simply a credit for another stay, and cancelled our reservation anyways! We asked to come for just the one night we had already paid for ($174!), any refund or a credit for a future stay. The only response was a big fat 'NO!' SUPER disappointed in their customer service!!!! read more

Beware one tent is a extra $35 dollars a night in addition to your nightly rate for your trailer and they don't even tell you that they are charging your card, me my wife and 2 kids. Kids decided they want to sleep out in a tent so we looked on is the paper we got when we checked in but didn't see anything. At least they should do if they see it is ask you if you know they charge a arm and a leg ($35) for the tent. We didn't have extra people, didn't put out around other campers. The amenities are very good. Sites along the tree line are on a slope. The shower house by the playground and ballfield watch when you go in the door on the right the floor is falling in. First time at this KOA and last. Back to the State Parks. It is gravel roads and sites are all so gravel. read more

Camped here for the weekend in a Kozy Kabin to attend the WW2 re-enactment in Conneaut, Ohio & we were not disappointed! The cabin was situated in front of the fishing pond and right behind was the awesome clean bathhouse! Perfect! We had a great time in the pool, the grounds are kept up nicely and the flowers all around are phenomenal !!! Everything is spread out so you don't feel packed in & the owners and workers are super informative & friendly. Seemed like a lot of activities were happening so your kids should not be bored & adults either. Give it a try if you're in the area! read more

Under new ownership this season. They are still working to get it ready for camping season. Just finished getting road drivable, pool is not currently heated due to broken element, no pizza or ice cream anymore yet, camp store is missing essentials, and turning more into a party atmosphere especially at group tent site. After loving this place for several years we will no longer return. It's not back up to KOA quality yet! read more

We found this KOA RV park and campground while traveling east on I90. It is a few miles off the interstate but worth the effort. Our travels were late in the season (October) so there were few campers but the staff was nonetheless friendly and helpful. Our site was a convenient pull through and the facilities were nice and clean. The park was lovely, nothing really not to like! read more
