TL;DR - Free parking, Greenway Trail is the longest, is not very strenuous (just a few hills) is very shaded (unless you continue into the meadows, which is beautiful, you should go!), there are boardwalks on the trail which is pretty nice so your shoes don't get as muddy, you can customize trail distance if you don't want to do the whole Greenway (you can take a map at the entrance), Walnut Creek is beautiful and peaceful, and it's dog and family friendly. I saw lots of families on the trail with young kids. So for the details, my bf and I were looking for a place to hike and we tend to go for 2+ mi with some shade along the trail and some body of water, big or small. I browsed the web for info on Asbury Woods trails and saw that they were all short but the pictures seemed really nice and it was within 10 minutes of where I live so I figured I'd give it a shot. While driving here, I noticed there are 2 lots to park, one by the park, and the other is across the street by the main entrance by the nature center. So that's where I parked. We took one of their trail maps by the entrance and decided to go on the Greenway Trail, which we were pleasantly surprised to find is 2.2 mi and crosses Walnut Creek. Along the trail, we realize it is pretty shaded. Checks off all that I look for in a hike! This trail is beautiful!! Once you get to Walnut Creek, you'll realize it is such a gem! There weren't too many people on the trail for a Saturday around noon. The trail takes you across a bridge and into a meadow. Once we got to the meadow, I realize there are multiple places to enter the Woods, but I guess Google Maps took me to the main entrance. (The other way is the barn entrance.) Have fun!!

On Tuesday she got sick with an ear infection, she told her counselor several times Tuesday and also Wednesday and all she did was get an attitude with her and do nothing but ignore the fact that she was sick . My daughter has chronic ear problems to the point of were she needs hearing aides. Finally on Thursday after her complaining for a third day to her counselor she reluctantly said ok to taking her to the nurse. On Thursday she had seen the nurse and I was in contact with her trying to get her medicine order for an inner ear infection that she suffered with for days before being seen for it. I asked several times and for hours to speak with her and they kept telling me I couldn't. Not realizing that my daughter was also asking for 3days to speak with me. Finally after 3 days and several hours I got a call from her. A male and female called and put us on speaker phone so they could hear everything I was talking about with my daughter even after asking for them to take us of speaker and they pretended they did. I knew something was wrong with the way she was stuttering which is a nervous thing she does. She also started crying and only kept saying she was fine and did nothing want picked up. I came to find out that before calling me my daughter was directed on what to say to me. What she was allowed to talk about and what she was not allowed to talk to me about. The whole phone call she was being told what she was able to say to me. She wanted to come home for she did not feel well but I wasn't allowed to know that. Who has the right to make my daughter feel the way she did and to be scared to not only talk to me but to ask them for help. I would never send her here again and or will never recommend this camp to others. It is a disgrace that my child was treated and felt the way that she did while attending camp and not being able to confine on me enough to go and pick her up. The should be ashamed of themselves.

If you are in need of rest and relaxation, plus, a 'back to nature' experience, we thoroughly recommend renting this 1950's Frank Lloyd Wright designed property. It was a great retreat for us. The home is retro, and given its age, appointed well enough. Actually, we were quite surprised by how comfy the beds were, as well as the nicely designed main bathroom. We've stayed in older F.L.W. designed homes, and have felt much less comfortable! Self-catering is possible, there are electric stove tops, but, there is no oven for baking or roasting. The home is stocked with everything you need to put together simple meals in style and enjoy the architecture and nature the property affords. There is a lovely deck, but, we couldn't utilize it because it was a bit too cold and wet when we visited; this would be great to dine and lounge on during summer months! What we liked most about the experience, besides checking out F.L.W.'s architecture, were the sweeping views from the large high-ceilinged living and dining room area. Inside, it felt like we were actually sitting in a forest! From the living room, from sunrise thru sunset, we could easily see deer grazing about slowly yet cautiously, beautifully and gracefully for our eyes. We viewed countless cardinals, blue jays, hawks and many other bird species, enriching the experience. There are many hiking trails on the property, and just up the road at Gully Brook Park, where we encountered more deer on our peaceful walks through the valley. Lastly, the town of Willoughby Hills itself has a decent coffee shop, numerous restaurants and bars, as well as grocery stores and wine shops, to make a stay at Penfield House most enjoyable.

Beautifully maintained, comfy and historic. We arrived and spent our first night by the fire playing games and snacking on charcuterie. An easy deal since the house is fully furnished and usable, including the firewood. Loved the ambiance and the warm vibe. You can tell it was a happy home filled with great memories. Browsing through the guest book there are many returnees each year. Sarah, the current owner, was awesome. When the power went out the first morning she and her family kept checkin up on us. We were great though, even without electricity! We built and kept the fore going, made French Press coffee and cooked on the gas stove lighting it with a lighter. There was hot water from the gas water heater so showers were had and everyone was happy. We spent the second night much like the first, games, good food (braised slow cooked short ribs over mashers and garlicky spinach) and lots of great wine, all by candle light and the warmth of the fire. It was "glamping" at its finest! Sadly, the power was not restored until after we left, but we still had a terrific time and plan on returning to enjoy the home, the hiking on the property and the Chagrin River. Highly recommend this great historic rental!
