A park with a beach. Headlands Beach is pretty big. It has plenty of space. Beach is rocky and it can hurt. They seem to keep this clean though. Beach is the main thing here. It is over a mile long. There's plenty of room for yourself. Along with the beach is the park area. There's a few shaded hiking trails. It's next to Mentor Marsh Nature Preserve. This is a nice area to go through. Another nice area to walk on is the actual beach. You need to wear sandals or shoes. Going into the water you need to be careful. Rocks are sharp. It overall is pretty clean. The sand on the rear off he beach is mostly free of cigarette butts and litter. It sucks getting from the parking lot to the beach. It's a pretty long walk from it. The good thing about the lot is there's plenty of spaces.

We picked up hotdogs to go from Scooter's Dawg House which is only about 5 minutes down the street. This was the perfect place to bring our food for dinner. The parking lot seemed crowded, but we didn't have any issues staying away from people. There were a lot of picnic tables in the grass around the parking lot. They were all spaced out and no one was around. After dinner, we walked along the trail behind the beach for a bit. I'm not sure how long it is, but it seemed pretty long. What a nice addition to the beach. We didn't stay long after dinner because no one walking around had on masks (even when they were close together). If you can manage to stay away from people, this is a great place to spend some time outside.

Usually come here to watch my husband kiteboard. It's a great spot and beachgoers clearly clean the beach as they are walking or hanging out there. They should have this system at all beaches.

Love love love! I visited recently hoping it would not be crowded and it was not! People were wearing masks and respectful with social distancing. There are bathrooms available. The beach is clean and water was clear. Today was our 4th time and it was a little bit windy so the waves were higher than usual but the wind cooled down the hotness of summer. Make sure to pack a lunch bag and make sure to have a rollers to carry your goodies to the beach as it is a quite a walk from parking lot.

Simply beautiful and very relaxing The parking lots are spacious and plenty of room on the beach to relax and have fun in or out of the water

I found this by accident when someone from an Ohio Daytrip Facebook Page remarked at how wonderful this place is. I looked into it and instantly knew we had to go. Very well maintained park and an short hike over the sand dunes to one of the more beautiful lake shore beaches in Ohio. I did see that this is one of the biggest sandy beaches on Lake Erie. It was gorgeous and clean and had the more amazing views of the lighthouse. Plus, shall I mention the beach glass? We found so many amazing pieces of beach glass among the rocks thrown up onto the shore from Lake Erie. We didn't bring our bathing suites, but saw many people swimming. There were notices that the algae levels were down this time of the year so it was safe for people to swim there. Between swimming and beach combing, this is a great day trip for family or even those wanting some peaceful solitude.

This is the Beach to visit in the Cleveland area! For a minute you forgot you're on Lake Erie with the wide sandy Beach and walking path alongside it. The beach is a little rocky and there are tons of birds. But it's a very pretty area.

I was eager to see Lake Erie and the lighthouse with my dog. You can walk along the beach on the path where dogs are allowed, but it comes nowhere near to the lighthouse or pretty rocky beach pictures I saw on my google image search. We were able to get a decent walk in and saw Lake Erie, but nothing was scenic except the pretty yellow warblers I saw. I think the areas where dogs are not permitted are probably more scenic.

My husband and I came here to do a photo shoot, the beach is very clean for what you'd expect of a park area and there's plenty of space to set up for a picnic! They even have picnic tables back by the parking lot if the towel set up isn't your thing. There are restrooms with changing areas for men and women, and jogging paths that follow the beach boarder. Lovely place for the family or a romantic photo shoot!

Love this park! Easy access parking, public restrooms, lots of open space. Beautiful sunset. Gave it 4 stars bc no dogs allowed :'(

As a photographer, I'm always looking for new places to shoot. Mentor Headlands is about as close as you can get in Ohio to a tropical-style sandy beach, and I've had people ask if my images there were taken in Florida! It has been cleaned up a lot as well in the last decade, making it a great spot to spend the day. Images by Jennifer Elizabeth Photography.

Coordinates N 41° 33.78 W 81° 8.607…read more This park is clean, very well designed and is definitely geared towards family's with children. I'm not from the area and I only came here once at the end of September, so this review could be a bit biased as when I visited the park, there were only a few people. For children, there is much to do. -Most impressive is the rope course which is seasonally operated. The one hour rope course session is free to Geauga County Residents but a $20 fee applies to non-Geauga residents. Unfortunately because I visited in the off season, I was not able to see the course in operation. From the looks of it, a variety of platforms are about 30 or-so-feet with a variety of different obstacles. Upon completion there is a 100ft long zip-line the brings you back down. - A one way only "pump track" is also located in the park and is free to use. For those who may not know, pumping is a technique used by mountain bikers to navigate without pedaling. The trail is 2,025 feet long. - There is a bouldering wall that is 12 feet high and plenty of surface area to try a navigate it completely around. There is also a smaller playground for smaller children that has a canoe sand box and a faux wood log tunnel. Two man made ponds are in the park and are stocked with fish, large mouth bass and Bluegill. A few platforms with benches are located around the ponds. There are 3 trails at this park. There is the White Tail Trail which is of asphalt and is 0.6 miles long, great for those with strollers or wheelchairs. The Drake Trail is 0.5 miles long and is made up of gravel. The Tree Trapper Trail is 1.1 miles long and is made up of gravel. There is a lodge that can be reserved in advanced for private events. It has wifi, Max capacity for 99 people. Eight conference-sized tables with seating for 64 (dining chairs with backs), three high-top/serving tables with seating for 12 (stools, no backs), and two lounge chairs with a coffee table in front of the fireplace. Restrooms are also available with water, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, sink and ample counter space with outlets. Although there is no cooking inside, a grill is located right behind the Lodge. I think the reservation pricing may vary but a quick look on the website has the following prices on their reservation page; Out-of-County Fee: $90.00-Geauga County Resident Fee:$55.00- Seasonal Surcharge: $ 10.00. All in all I am fairly impressed with this family orientated park.
