I had quite fun here at Camp Fitch. I find the beds to be quite uncomfortable even with a sleeping bag, but there is so much fun to be had. From archery, to fishing, to visiting animals in the barn. There is a good time waiting for almost anyone. I highly recommend atleast checking the place out, make sure to check the weather! Have fun! read more

I was a camper there and it was fun. The cabin was good, but the bathroom was not that good. The activities were fun and kept us busy all day. The food wasn't bad and I ate 4 bowls of chicken. It was fun and the consulers were good. read more

Memories every second YMCA Camp Fitch is a life-changing experience that I and many others can't get enough of, as a guy who has been to 4 YMCA camps which are: Camp Greenville, Camp Cullen, Camp Finch, and Ymca Thunderbird which I went to for 2 years in a row. So I have a lot of experience with Many Ymca camps In my life. Ymca camp fitch is a magical experience and you can meet a lot of different people for life. Making friends in the cabin or the groups is super easy, with many options with their rest time (which to most people you don't rest much). In rest time you can read in your bed, play ball or do silly things. For example, during my most recent trip there during rest time we made a stick business where we would sell sticks in the shape of stuff and different ones would sell for more and instead of money, you played with snacks. (which will go into more detail soon) For an entire day, there was a cabin war for sticks it was super fun and I made a lot of friends. On the other hand, there are voyages which are trips with your cabin mates and are most often in the middle of the day and you can hike and walk on the beach or play activities in front of the cafeteria hall like gaga ball, 9 squires or 4 squires and shuffle ball which is chosen by the two counselors. And on the other hand, the camp is MASSIVE. It is 50 acres of land with bird paths, hiking trails, 2, churches, and a pool. With over 45+ activities which are the most popular are the: dnd club (dungeons and dragons), archery, riflery with a bb gun and real 9mm snipers, horseback and ranch, rock climbing and swimming lessons. And did I mention the ep activities which I didn't even know what that meant I went there for the first time. And it means evening program, and this is different every time or every week you are there. But the ones I got were: capture the flag with types of groups oh wait did not mention the groups? So i am going to tell you the groups first because the eps were based on the eps so there are there 4 are groups the: Mackinaw Fleet (6-7), Sloop Fleet (8-10), Schooner Fleet (11-12), and Clipper Fleet (13-16) and the Mackinaw fleet is younger kids and do different ep so there are not with the groups.And on my last trip I was a schooner and had there eps with other the groups the first on monday was sloop fleet vrs schooner fleet capture the flag and we one and wednesday we got a to have a pool party and friday we had a sleping slide with clippers and that was a disaster (for me) and me and coulson ran head first into each other and when I went to the nurse 6 other kid got injured. On the other hand, the food is a great 7 rounds of the same food which is home style and is so good and there are dietary options too, don't want to eat what they give? That has a pbnj station and for pork it has a table for that to vegan table and more. And are ready for this you can bring your own food mainly snacks that you can share and stuff and during this time you can send letters to your parents which I personally recommend if you are a 2 or 3 week camper cuz it take a long time to get to your parents and if you are a two week and 3 week camper they have laundry machines and more to help with that. They have heated showers, HEATED SHOWERS and have lake erie in front of the cafeteria so when you go to eat breakfast in the morning you can see the beach. But in conclusion the ymca camp fitch in a all in all good camp for first timer and has a lot of history and friends to make so If you are look at sending you kid to this camp It is worth the money and this year I going to be a year two camper, make by Cody.D read more

How on earth am I the first to review Camp Fitch?! This place is awesome and it's something my kids look forward to coming here every year. I fully anticipate my son eventually working here as this place is something he is really passionate about. The counselors really look after the kids and give them motivation to try new things and to make friends. The kids have so much to do I know they're never board and my son raves about the food and he is the pickiest eater on the planet. We are so fortunate to have a place close by that my kids can cherish. read more

We had a sad experience with this camp and will not be sending our 9 year old daughter back. This was her first and only year at this camp, and after we had settled her in to her cabin and said goodbye, her Counselor stopped us on our way out to tell us that the 16 year old Counselor in Training for that week was transitioning and wanted to go by male pronouns for the week. To the Counselor's credit, she wanted to know if my husband and I would be okay with that. This is 100% a conversation that my husband and I feel like we should be able to have with our daughter and that it not be the job of the YMCA. With our daughter only being 9 years old, transgenderism is not a conversation we have yet had with her. We told the counselor that we did not feel comfortable with that. I asked why this CiT was not in a boy cabin if wanting to go by male pronouns, and the Counselor told us that they gave this person the choice of which gender they wanted to be with since they are in the middle of transitioning. So while biologically female but identifying as a male, this transitioning individual still wanted to be with girls for the week. My husband and I then talked to two other individuals in positions above our daughter's Counselor, and they assured us counselors are not allowed to talk about their personal lives with the campers. I asked how that could possibly work since the transitioning individual looks like a tomboy (but is still very obviously a biological female) yet wanted to go by male pronouns. How would that not be confusing to 9 and 10 year old girls and not create a load of questions? The arrangement that was made to make my husband and I comfortable enough to leave our daughter there was that the CiT would be moved to another fleet (set of cabins and different age group) for the week. I asked why we weren't notified about this arrangement a few days before camp started to make sure we would be okay with the placement. If the YMCA had called parents to make sure they would be okay with it, this transitioning CiT could have been saved from likely much hurt from being moved to a new fleet on day one of camp. Once home from dropping our daughter off, we talked separately to the Summer Camp Director and the Associate Executive Director and Chaplain on the phone. I learned in these phone calls that we were never supposed to be notified about the transitioning CiT due to confidentiality reasons. My daughter's Counselor broke protocol in telling us. These phone calls also confirmed that the parents of the new campers that this CiT was put over were also not going to be notified. I find this unacceptable. I would be 100,000% more angry if I picked up my daughter from a week at camp and learned that there was a transitioning individual in her cabin the entire week who looked like a female but went by male pronouns. I feel the policy of not telling the parents puts the benefit and good of one individual (the CiT) over the likely many parents who would feel their trust in Camp Fitch was breached by not be able to give informed consent. There are ways to notify parents of a situation such as this without breaking the confidentiality and privacy of the transitioning individual. The way the YMCA handled this situation was poor. Apparently, we learned the Youngstown YMCA, which is over Camp Fitch, has a new LGBTQ+ policy that was nowhere found on the Camp Fitch website, and this new policy was put into place without consideration for possible ramifications of the said policy. It appears that YMCA is just "learning as they go" and trying to put out fires as they come along. When the policy was put in place, plans of action should also have been put into place for situations such as this. I made it clear that every child has a right to be at this camp, even those who identify as LGBTQ+, but parents and parental rights need to be respected as much as those who identify as LGBTQ+. After talking to 5 people at Camp Fitch about what happened, we strongly believe that is not the case at this camp and we will find another one to send our daughter to. read more
