Besides a very clean pond filled with beautiful water fowl , there is also a small Japanese garden at the top of a steep hill that overlooks the pond. I don't know about you, but swans are a very rare occurrence in my sheltered world so being able to see two up close was awesome! There is a large shelter house in the very back of the park that provides a clean, uncluttered view of Lake Erie. Right now there are Christmas decorations if you're into viewing holiday lights. This is easily one of the cleanest parks I've ever visited. Although it is NOT DOG FRIENDLY, I would encourage you to bring the rest of the family.

Located in the sleepy lake town of Conneaut Ohio, this place lies directly alongside Lake Erie and is at the northwest corner of Erie and Sandusky streets. I am amazed that a place like this is just a little over an hour east to Cleveland while it feels like a whole different world. During my visits, I have seen some breathtaking sunsets, bird watching, and just a perfect place for a picnic. Some other great events that are held here include the 4th of July festival complete with a parade, vendors, & live entertainment, D-day Conneaut that is held every year in mid-August, and softball games complete with concession stands. This is also a popular location amongst high schoolers that take their pictures with Erie lake in the background. In addition to that, there's an arts center as well as nearby Lakefront Motel in case you wish to stay the night. One drawback of this park is that it is not dog friendly which can be a make it or break it since Conneaut itself is a community where many people are proud dog owners. There is a public restroom at this park; however not the cleanest as that might deter people from using the facilities here. However, the pros outweigh the cons as they offer ample parking throughout while the boat launch area is fee is a respectable $8 charge. There are also some great family-owned restaurants nearby including "Breakwall BBQ", "Sparky's Place", and "Castaways Pizza", all within a few blocks walking distance. All in all, "Lakeview Park" is a decent place for the whole entire family. Whether it is enjoying a picnic on a warm summer day or going to the Oasis Marina at Port Conneaut, the views all in itself are quite amazing and picturesque. My rating, an above average four stars.

There are two ways to access the beach and you are able to walk the length of it, swim, sit ect. Two Rentable campsites and 1 rentable pavilion with heat, water and bathrooms. There is also a separate restroom near the lookout tower. Trails I break down to four. A more open air one that can get hot if walking in the summer. A wooded one that is sheltered by trees, keeping you cooler. The beach trail and a smaller grass trail where you are likely to see butterflies and deer.

It's also large enough to play a game of soccer or football. It's not far from the main strip so you can easily grab food & bring it back to enjoy as well. The colors of the leaves were really nice and we were able to go up the platform and see the entire arboretum. Recommend coming here on a nice sunny day to enjoy the hike to the fullest. We were greeted with a random encounter by a black rat snake right when we entered. This place is well maintained and offers a variety of aesthetic gardens and trails, along with several benches in each area for you to simply sit back and relax while enjoying the view. The highlight would be the Kalberer emergent tower, featuring a 120 ft structure that offers a panoramic view of the forest and Lake Erie (202 stairs to the top). The Murch canopy walk is also a must-visit spot. This is a 500 ft long elevated walkway that lets you immerse yourself in the tree canopy. We had such a great time here and will definitely be back. The facilities are well maintained, but the stars here are the wildlife. There is a 12 mile paved bike trail that circumnavigates the lake. Roderick Reserve is a 3,600-acre natural area on the Lake Erie shoreline, adjacent to Erie Bluffs State Park. Prior to becoming a nature reserve, the property was owned by Andrew Carnegie and, later, U.S. Steel Corp. Forty-nine percent of the site is wetlands. Aspen, American Beech, White Oak, Sugar Maple, and Silky Dogwood make up a majority of the forested area. Red and Silver maple grow vigorously in wooded swamps. Increasingly surrounded by development, the site will likely become more important in the future as an "island" of habitat. It is considered by the Audobon Society as an important and significant bird area.

The park itself serves as a historical landmark for the Hulett Ore Unloader machine, which was invented in the late 1800's by Clevelander, George H. Hulett, and was used in the Great Lakes during that time. Part of a machine is on display at the park! Also, at this park, there is a Merchant Marine Memorial which pays tribute to notable people who were involved with the harbor. Many of the park benches are dedicated and there is a path where each brick is dedicated to a person, business, or group from the area. Point Park does need some TLC and upkeep, though. There's some trash around and kids have started to deface the Hulett machine with graffiti, which is sad. But, overall, this is a nice, quiet park to enjoy with family, watch the boats go by, and learn some history on the area.
