We let the owners, Alyssa and her mother, know beforehand that the girls were beginners and that this would be their first time riding without someone leading their horses. Some of the girls were understandably nervous. The other troop leaders and I felt that the staff seemed short-tempered with them at times, making it harder for the girls to feel comfortable and confident. Alyssa's young daughter was also there to help lead our group. Given the girls' age and lack of experience, I would have felt more comfortable with another adult helping to guide the ride. Our biggest concern was safety on the trail. We came across a downed tree, and one girl's horse had trouble getting past it when its legs became caught in the branches. Alyssa commented that if she had known the tree was down, she would not have taken us that way. That was troubling to hear. I would expect the conditions of a trail to be checked before taking a group of young beginners out on it. Later, Alyssa asked whether I thought the group could cross a creek. She did not explain that the crossing involved a hill and a large muddy area that could pose a hazard for beginner riders. One girl's horse became stuck in the mud and fell onto its side, and the girl had to jump off quickly. It was extremely frightening, and she could easily have been injured. After the horse fell, Alyssa's mother, who was riding toward the back of the group, kept yelling, "The horse broke its leg!" Of course we were concerned about the horse, but our immediate priority was making sure the girl was safe. At that moment, it felt to us as though the staff's attention was focused on the horse rather than checking on her. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the outcome could have been very different. I left feeling that the route and its conditions had not been adequately assessed for a group of young beginners. I wish the staff had shown more patience with the girls and taken greater care in choosing and leading the ride.

It's a great escape in the midst of a family gathering where you are fed to death and surrounded by crazy family smothering fights and bonding and boardgames.

Nice forested trails are available on the other side of the reservation for both hikers and trail runners. The grounds are beautiful and everything is well-maintained. Far away from the cities, expect quiet and serenity out here in rural Geauga County.

The pricing is reasonable, with different packages and membership levels available. The 19-hole course is beautiful and well-maintained, and the staff is consistently helpful and kind. But my favorite part? The food--everything I've tried on the menu has been absolutely delicious! Overall, I'm really happy with my decision to join.

I would strongly avoid this place if you are looking for a wedding venue…read more If you want to be served a TV dinner or want to poison your guests for your wedding night then this is the place for you. From what we were shown versus what we received as dishes the difference was night and day. Completely different cuts of meat. Completely different preparations. And then everything tasted and looked as if it either was boiled forever or microwaved. Now this at the end of the night isn't bad as bad food still doesn't matter when you are celebrating. But not listening to food allergen warnings will kill someone. We had many guests who are either gluten intolerant to the point of severe sickness or had severe tree nut and peanut allergies. So the bride and groom both agreed to have gluten free bread and a gluten free chicken dish as a menu option and NO nuts. The chicken was suppose to be gluten free and when it was served, it contained bread crumbs. Which contains gluten. So the groom couldn't eat the main meal as he didn't want to be sick vomiting all night. The first salad "dish" served was wilted lettuce with WALNUTS! Not trusting that the chefs took any care with the preparation of the dishes or being careful about cross contamination. The best man didn't eat anything they prepared. So not only did the groom not get the main meal, the best man didn't get to eat at the venue. The management team here really needs to figure out what they are doing. This was an embarrassing show from people who allegedly have been doing this for years. They need to operate at least at an okay standard if they hope not to be litigated out of existence. If we weren't careful we could have had a serious allergic reaction that could have caused a death. It was pitiful to be around such unprofessional and amateur planning by the management team of this club. If it wasn't for how great the rest of the staff was I am sure this place would have had many more problems.
