Willow Lake Campground - 1 of three trailers, not campers

I am extremely disappointed with the experience at this campground. Both interactions with the…read moreoffice staff was met with rudeness and a dismissive attitude. On our most recent overnight stay, we were one of only three occupied spaces in the entire campground. When we returned from a day out with our granddaughter, we found four large trailers filled with groups of adult men placed just feet from our camper. With dozens of empty spaces available, this placement was completely unnecessary and inconsiderate. The booking process specifically asks how many people will be on site, yet no effort was made to inform us that such large groups would be packed in so close. Each trailer,(not camper) contained at least five men, and the resulting noise and disruption ruined what should have been a quiet family stay. These men kept wondering around our campsite and occupying empty campsite picnic tables all around us due to the size of their group. When we voiced our concerns, the response from the office was unprofessional and dismissive -- essentially a "too bad, so sad" attitude. We felt so uncomfortable and unsafe that we packed up and left early. This complete lack of regard for guests' comfort and experience is unacceptable.

Such a beautiful place, especially now in the fall. I only had a VERY quick visit, but I can tell…read morethat there are TONS of things to do here, and just a walk on the beach alone worked WONDERS for my road trip weary soul. Ohio has recently won awards for its state parks, and this is yet another jewel in its crown!! Scenic trails, ample picnic areas, clean facilities, a GORGEOUS view of the lake... 1000% worth a visit!! Hope to be back again in the warmer months!! Enjoy!!

Beach review only,…read more We live about 15min from GOTL State Park. This is our go to beach a bunch of times during the summer. Its not very crowded and there are tons of things to do around the area after the beach. Lets start with cons: -Beach is rocky towards the water, sand is nicer the further back you sit. If youre looking for Fairport Harbor raked beach sand, this is not for you. -Water is rocky for about 20' or so out, then turns into sand. -Foot wash was not working, however it has worked in the past. -No showers, but do offer a changing area. -No breakwall, so occasional driftwood shows up, this could be a good thing or bad thing depending how you view it The Pros -Never crowded like the other beaches around -Water is cleaner than other beaches around -Bike and walkable, and a grassy area up top for family parties -Sand walkway to help the Dads wheeling a wagon full of kid toys, chairs, umbrelllas, while the wife holds her stanley cup in one hand and her beach tote in the other. -5min from GOTL -Everyone seems to follow the rules, never an issue there. Great spot with tons of stuff to do around the area. Its like a mini vacation!

This campground is the type of place I always wanted to visit as a kid. It is huge with so many…read moreactivities that you could literally spend your entire vacation here and never leave the grounds. I recently visited with my partner and our two kids. Let's just say, we aren't totally the dedicated campers where we need to pitch tents, bring all the accessories and sleep on the ground. That's why this place especially stood out as they had luxury cabins for rent. Or as my partner said, I'm good as long as I have air conditioning and running water! The cabin came with a screened-in porch, an outdoor fire pit for evening s'mores, a loft where the kids slept, a full living room and kitchen with refrigerator another room with bunkbeds, a bathroom and then the master bedroom at the back of the cabin complete with dressers to put away your clothes. I'm one of those people that always unpacks and must have things organized, so it was a lifesaver. You can rent golf carts, highly recommended as the grounds are spacious and some of the cabins are located far away from the activities. There are also communal laundry facilities, which were great to have since we had to use them day 1 of our trip! The common area offers free activities like playgrounds, mini golf, character meet n' greets and wagon rides along with firetruck rides. Other activities cost extra like ceramic making, tie die shirt making, glitter tattoos and several others. Some nights they offer free movie screenings and other programs. Overall, this was like camping without the pain! That's my kind of camping. Cabin rentals are a little pricey, but with all that space, it could accommodate a large family or even combine it with others to help split the cost. Finally, the biggest hit was the water park. This is a can't miss. We got a poolside cabana and spent most of our days here. The kids didn't want to leave!

Let me start off by saying everything is really nice there. When we went the water park was closed…read morebut it looks like kids would have fun. It looks to be more for smaller kids rather than teens but nonetheless it's nice. All the staff were really nice. They took the kids for a ride on the fire truck which all thought that was cool. My complaint if you want to call it that is the price. It's a bit expensive. Camping is suppose to be a cheaper alternative to going to a hotel. Not the case here. Depending on what you get it could be just as much if not more than going to a hotel and I don't mean any hotel local to here. It's comparable (at least when we stayed) to hotels in Myrtle Beach. I won't say I would never go back but it would not be my first pick however if you want to stay local to this area and when I say this area I mean within an hour or two, this is not bad.
