Edge of the water at the beach.
Felicia C.

We camped in our travel trailer for the first time at Punderson. We stayed at campsite 21. Upon arrival I was shocked the parking pad was so narrow. We barely had enough room for our steps to unfold and have any footing to the parking pad under it. Be prepared with some extra kind of step to use. The park was experiencing an issue with the electricity and didn't have power from 8pm-6am. It was at least 90 out. Husband had to drive 45 min one way to get the generator. My daughter and I sought refuge in the dark shower house to cool off. We used our phone light and I was kinda happy there wasn't full light as the showers were filthy. We chose to stay at this park as it was a half hour from where my daughters travel softball team had a tournament (that got rained out) and we'd have something to do after her games. The beach was a bust when we went and seen how gross the water was. The outside pool was an addition $8 per camper to use at the manor and it was packed already. The park itself seemed to be beautiful, just a little unkept.

Stayed last year. Cabin dirty smelled like cigarette smoke manager gave us a free night and told us they were remodeling and to ask for cabin 8 next year. Just did it and were disappointed. No fireplace. If you plug in the toaster you have to unplug coffee pot. The blind fell down in the bathroom and took out the toilet paper holder. They updated the furnature to cute rustic wood log stuff but it's oversized. To go to the bathroom I had to crawl over my husband every time. The toilet ran and the sink dripped. Also they put wood floors everywhere. Not so clean and cold take slippers. You couldn't plug in the clock and the lamp at the same time in the bedroom because the outlet was bad all in all wasn't worth the 255 a night Also the cabins back up to the road so you hear the trucks go by all night.

Ask the Community - Punderson State Park

How do you access the walkway on the water? Have family coming into town and want to take them there but never have been down by the water before.

The walkway begins in front of the manor. Walk through the grass.

Willow Lake Campground - 1 of three trailers, not campers

I am extremely disappointed with the experience at this campground. Both interactions with the…read moreoffice staff was met with rudeness and a dismissive attitude. On our most recent overnight stay, we were one of only three occupied spaces in the entire campground. When we returned from a day out with our granddaughter, we found four large trailers filled with groups of adult men placed just feet from our camper. With dozens of empty spaces available, this placement was completely unnecessary and inconsiderate. The booking process specifically asks how many people will be on site, yet no effort was made to inform us that such large groups would be packed in so close. Each trailer,(not camper) contained at least five men, and the resulting noise and disruption ruined what should have been a quiet family stay. These men kept wondering around our campsite and occupying empty campsite picnic tables all around us due to the size of their group. When we voiced our concerns, the response from the office was unprofessional and dismissive -- essentially a "too bad, so sad" attitude. We felt so uncomfortable and unsafe that we packed up and left early. This complete lack of regard for guests' comfort and experience is unacceptable.

We had a very nice time here…read more Positive- We enjoyed the swimming pool, swimming lake, fishing lake, and loved our campsite view right on the fishing lake. The man in the front office was very nice. The office sells everything you need (there is a dollar general literally right around the corner that is convenient). Well kept up place that is beautiful. Negative- as soon as the sun went down the mosquitoes were awful. I know that's what you get when you're camping on a lake but it was extremely bad. You're not allowed any radio/music at all. We wish that rule was changed just a little. We would have loved to bring a portable projector to watch a movie or bring a speaker to listen to music. Also, you have to purchase wood from them which is fine but our wood popped really bad! We purchased two bundles at $12 each which didn't last very long at all. One bundle last us an hour. Things we would have liked- volleyball nets, more to do in the swimming lake (maybe some slides). Able to bring a radio for music. Able to have a projector. All in all, I would definitely recommend this family campground.

Bathrooms are Extremely clean :) However they charge you for everything on top of what you are already paying for the reservation. $10 for 10 pieces of wood and you cannot bring wood in from the outside. $15 for reservation insurance, if you don't have it, they charge you $30 to change your reservation. They charge you to bring your dogs. You can have up to four guests before they start charging for that. We'll only make a reservation moving forward if they have availability a week in advance at this point. Some places are worth it and some are not.

It's one of my favorite local nature reserves. There are always a lot of groups in this area enjoying picnic tables and pavilion. The picnic area itself is well-kept and welcoming, with plenty of space to relax, enjoy a meal, or simply sit and take in nature. The meadow at the entrance has 2 convenient tables. The pavilion nestled more in the park has many picnic tables, grill, and fire place. It accommodates large parties. I have seen a lot of big groups have different holiday celebrations or just gather on a sunny day. What I enjoy the most is the space between picnic tables and inside the pavilion to offer privacy to various groups and a space to roam. The reservation also has a lot of great trails. They're far enough from the road to offer a serene experience. As I walked along the quiet paths and took in the scenic views around Strawberry Pond, I felt an immediate sense of calm. The sounds of birds calling and leaves rustling in the breeze added to the tranquil atmosphere. The bathrooms are conveniently available at the entrance. They are a little gross but available. The parking lot is pretty spacious. The picnic area is very easy to find, just follow the signage or your GPS. Whether you're walking the nearby trails or just lounging with family or friends, this place feels like a hidden gem. Overall, my time at Strawberry Picnic Area reminded me of the importance of reconnecting with nature and making space for simple, quiet moments. It's a place I'd return to in any season. I'll be back again in a few weeks.
