    A perfect sunset
    Peter N.

Sunset walks while on the west side or staying at one of the Ko'Olina resorts is must. Some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. The variety of landscapes in your sunset shots are many. The Waianae Range gives you dramatic mountains. On the shoreline, you can choose from smooth white sand, jagged black lava rocks with reflective pools or a combination of both. Highly recommended

This is so worth the visit when visiting the island of Oahu. If you get there early enough you can get free parking at one of the lagoons. You are free to walk the beautiful grounds of Aulani, A Disney Resort. In addition you can shop as well.

When you enter the area, you'll see a sign that tells you how many parking spaces are within each lagoon. Since it said there was opening at lagoon three we opted to go to this one. I'm so glad we did! It's located in front of the Marriot. There's plenty of sand and seating to lounge in. There's a bathroom and a rinse off area. The wind was blowing where you can see the waves beyond the rocks but it definitely slowed down the waves to the shore. I walked to the other lagoons and this one was the nicest. Lagoon 2 looked kind of murky and Lagoon 1 was too busy with a lot of people, which was at the Aulani resort. If you're hungry, they have a snack bar , quite pricey or walk to the market. I opted to go to the market at the resort. They had paninis, hot dogs, sandwiches, pretzels, nachos, Starbucks, ice cream, smoothies and other convenience store snacks. I highly recommend this lagoon for a beautiful beach day.

Forgot to pay for parking, got a ticket and ridiculous added fee within 24 hrs. Really ruins the experience and makes me not want to return.

I didnt even see the parking sign. Maybe a warning for the first offense would be appropriate. Why is there an additional fee within 24 hours of paying? Really makes me not want to return.

Beautiful area on the west side of Oahu. Lush & tropical complete with white sand beaches, a lagoon and a golf course. There are great bars and eateries, along with nice shops. Highly recommend!!

During my visit to Hawaii I stayed at Aulani which is a resort owned by Disney that is located within the Ko Olina community. I spent a good amount of time exploring the resort area so I figured that warranted it's own review - so here we go! Ko Olina is located on the southwest shores of Oahu, and contains a number of different lodgings, homes, and amenities. In addition to Aulani, the area is also home to a few more resorts such as the Four Seasons and a Marriott, as well as residences, shops, restaurants, beaches, and golf courses. Ko Olina is also home to Paradise Cove which hosts events such as luaus. I took the time to explore the grounds during my stay, and really enjoyed simply walking around and absorbing the aesthetics. There are a lot of walking paths and several lagoons with beaches. I was also impressed with the variety of shops and restaurants present - it's super convenient to get light groceries, sundries, or a souvenir. One of the drawbacks that I found with Ko Olina is that it's a little far from Honolulu. You can totally make a vacation out of staying within Ko Olina's grounds, but if you're looking to explore the island then it can be a bit of a drive to get to the main tourist sites - it really depends on the type of vacation you're looking for. Overall, Ko Olina was beautiful - it's definitely a picturesque place to spend time while in Hawaii with a lot of amenities to take advantage of. I would definitely consider staying at one of the resorts here again if I ever return to Oahu.

Back again, I just can't stay away, and why would I want to?! This is my reprieve from all things. There's people everywhere yet it's like I'm here by myself. I'm at Lagoon one and per usual it's clean, never cigarette butts anywhere absolutely grosses me out!) or trash. The sounds of nature and children laughing are my music. Practically no weight parking this time, that's always welcome!

    Beautiful day

Just did a drive by. Beautiful well kept landscaping, but too many speed bumps. Good for safety, but it took a long time to drive through and back out.great for maybe a relaxing staycation! Seems safe and less crowded than Waikiki & close enough to Ka Makana Ali'i if you want to shop & dine.

Sunday, 26th January 2020 the parking at Lagoon 4 was pretty open. We had a lot of parking spaves to choose from. We planned on going to Lagoon 4 but, upon arrival, the water was rough even with the reef blocking some of the waves. We really didn't want to leave without enjoying the water so we walked over to lagoon 3 to see if it was the same. Luckily, the water was a little calmer. It was about 830am on a Sunday when we arrived. Although the water was less rough, it was frothy and littered with leaves and other debris (not rubbish, just branches and other shrubs). After about an hour, the water calmed and all the debris cleared up. By this time, the water was so calm and clear you could see the bottom. The beach itself wasn't too crowded and the sun was playing hide & seek with the clouds so it was enjoyable. After about 2.5 to 3 hours we cleaned up and walked but to Lagoon 4 parking. By that time, there were a line of cars waiting for someone to leave so they could park.

Rich show off a beautiful sun rise in Ko-Olina beach just the beginning glorious day.

Absolutely stunning place to visit. The locals are very friendly.in Ko-Olina and you definitely have so many must haves while you're there and visit quite a few areas please. And keep it clean so that we can all have something beautiful to go back to.

this side is closer to the hotel areas.

This is one of several lagoons that has public access. It is located in the area where Marriott vacations is. Came here on a Tuesday afternoon, and there was no crowd. Parking was free although with only about 20 maximum spots. Hotel area is demarcated from the public access side by a rope, but my companion and I used the hotel's beach chairs without incident. There were several fish especially by the rocky areas, so bring your snorkel gear. Water was clear, warm and calm. Public shower and dressing areas just within walking distance (2 minutes). Please no soap or shampoo - save that for your home. On other islands, there is a ban on chemical sunscreen. DO try to use reef safe products.

All of the Ko'olina lagoons are a great place to bring kids and beginner swimmers as well as to practice snorkeling. You've got some nice as well as some shady grass spots to have a leisurely relaxing day. Get here early so you can get one of the free parking spots and bring your own snacks if you don't want to buy some thing though, there is an ABC store before you get to lagoon one.

Great place to hang out IF you can find parking. They are strict about the parking too. Get dropped off it's a great place but be mindful of the millions of tourists! Ok that's an exaggeration....but still nice.

Theses chairs are on the roped off side.

I could foresee this coming in handy when staying in a suite with a kitchen. They had activities planned everyday like water aerobics. It was sometimes hard to get a spot next to the pool due to the demand, but it was relatively safe to leave your things unattended. I never felt like I needed to keep an eye on my items. On the beach, they had options to rent cabanas and shaded beach lounge chairs. That was nice as it would get so hot during the day.

Highly recommend as a place to stay and recommend to family if you live in Kapolei or Makakilo area. We felt like we were on vacation too.

We stayed in Waikiki for part of our trip but then came here for our last part to celebrate our daughters birthday. Best choice of the whole trip. This area was a completely different look and feel to the island. It was so much more calming and relaxing. The hotel staff were phenomenal, the check in process was amazing and went so smoothly. We were told our room wouldn't be ready until 4PM, but Disney magic it was ready at 12pm. Which was amazing with toddlers. The attractions, there are so many pools to choose from, the lazy river is amazing, the slides were so fun! The attention to detail everywhere is so Disney but with a Hawaiian feel. It was great to be able to get towel service anywhere, there are beach toys, life vests available all free. We didn't have a hard time finding chairs. Theres some good quick food service options near the pool. We ordered a bit of everything and it was all good for pool service food. The kids loved the Disney Mickey ears shaved ice. We did a paddle board rental and the bay was so calm, clear and amazing, it was beautiful to see the bay from the kind of view and experience. We did the Character breakfast dining and that was so fun for the kids to see all the Characters come through, the food was plenty. They have photos with Mickey before and you can buy all the photos and a print out for a packaged price. The characters came by and visited with the kids it was so adorable. The servers were so sweet and amazing like a true Auntie. The kids had so much fun at all the meet and greets with the Characters. Moana and Stitch were of course the island favorite and highlight. We took advantage and took lots of photos with the photo passes and had to buy the packages because what sweet memories. Self parking was very close and in a garage so it was great for us with the car rental that we had. The valet/car staff were amazing as well, they were accommodating and helped with all the bags. Bell hop was exceptional here as well, so helpful and friendly. The room itself was cute, there was a kitchenette but we didn't take advantage of it. The bathroom was a good size and had everything you needed including liquid hand soap. The room was a decent size, but the bed was a bit smaller than we are used to, it was a full rather than a queen or king. The kids pull out sofa was much bigger, but we didn't spend much time in the room. The attention to detail was great, there was room to store your bags under the bed. We had a wonderful view of the garden/pool. Great for pictures. Mickey and friends called to tell my daughter happy birthday. Overall the experience was so memorable for our family. I was tempted to sign up to be a DVC member but we don't go to Hawaii often enough to make it worth it. But by far the most beautiful Disney resort we have been too. We love DisneyWorld but this was a different Island feel. Of course we went to the gift shop too because it was a must and had special Disney Aulani items only! The lounge they had for guest use on the day of check out was amazing feature on our last day when we were flying home. We were able to use the pool and all the amenities and then shower and refresh before out 8 hour flight home.

However, the resort pricing overall food value was disappointing. At check-in guest are giving a discount card for 10% of Off at the Market and certain resort locations, which is appreciated. However, if you forget the card in your room while heading to the pool or Beach, you were simply out of luck since purchases can be charged directly to the room, it seems like the discount should automatically apply to the guest account instead of requiring a physical card. The 10% discount definitely helps because Hawaii is already expensive but the price is at the market and eateries felt excessive. For example we had 6 drinks and two orders of fish and chips at Long boards and the bill was $171. Unfortunately food felt like it mediocre pub food, which made the cost even harder to justify. Overall, we love the beauty of Ko Olina and the warmth of the people, but the resort pricing felt comparable to Disney without the food quality or value to match.
