Janice's rental is absolutely wonderful so well stocked above and beyond what normal B&B's give. She has so much detailed Attention to everything. It is very comfortable clean Hawaiiana Style ( IYKYK) (for that reviewer that said dirty-smelled obviously doesn't stay in Hawaii or has never stayed on the islands very often) , anyways-its perfect for two or three people. A big bed with a pull out couch. She stocks everything for the stay from TP to drinks to goodies, breads, sweets,fruit , left in the microwave, on dishes, including anything and everything you would need to have a wonderful stay. No not 5 course meals!! But your in a suite hello?? thank you Janice for a beautiful place to stay, your generous hospitality, and your such a sweet soul . We definitely coming back as we come. every couple years our Ohana is here. We went there in the summer. There was not much of options where we wanted to stay near Lanikai Beach so that was the only open space to book and the photo shows a really cozy and nice decorative room. but I think it is outdated and needs a little bit of remodeling and deep cleaning. ( it smelled old) I love the beach so much it was only 10 minutes walk. and there is a breakfast that is enugh for two . Fruit basket.. We did not get to talk, or communicate with the hostess at all. which is not a bad or a good thing. five star for location one star for the condition of the room. There was towels, enough napkins no waters or filter and the kitchen tool was so outdated like 50 years old, also carpets, beds etc. I honestly did not want to leave a review on yelp.cuz i did on Airbnb, but Yelp keep bringing up this place to review, and I did not appreciate the response on rbnb . I've stayed at Hawaii's Hidden Hideaway B&B at least 3 times and in different rooms. (As I recall there are 3 to choose from) As a former resident of Oahu and of Kailua in particular. I can't say enough good things about this B&B. Janice (owner/manager) epitomizes the true nature of "Hawaiian Hospitality" and the spirit of ALOHA. The rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable. With thoughtful welcoming gifts, Janice makes sure you truly feel welcome. Janice was always available to make suggestions and recommendations or just to "talk story" with. With the B&B within a 2 block walk from one of Hawaii's best beaches it's hard to beat. I'm looking forward to the next time I'm able to make it back to the islands and to enjoy another stay at Hawaii's Hidden Hideaway.. read more

I cannot fathom why people are giving this place a good review. The first thing I noticed upon entering there last week was the overwhelming smell of mold and dinginess. The person I was traveling with had the same response, and we were so disappointed after paying so much to stay somewhere and being stuck with it once we arrived. We had to sleep with the door wide open and take Benadryl to not be sickened. There's mold on the dirty window shade, a dirty inoperable lamp beside the bed, and things literally haven't been updated since the early 1980s. I am not talking retro in a charming way here. It's gross, period. There were bugs on the walls and sometimes on us, not just on "food left out". The ceiling has been sloppily painted a dark blackish green in the bathroom and area next to it-I'm certain to hide the mold which smelled extremely strong in that area. We didn't dare unpack our clothes or spend any time in the rental at all except between 10 PM and 7 AM. Out the moment we got up and in only to sleep because we had no other choice. The word we used repeatedly was "disgusting." And believe me, I've traveled to many countries, and my standards are not that high. She's obviously quite wealthy, and I think it's immoral to not use a little bit of that money to make the interior of this place actually liveable let alone enjoyable. The fruit was inedible and the bagged snacks were stale. We decided to try to make the best of it and grabbed the supplied flotation devices on a walk to the beach only to find that they were so covered in visible mold that we needed to return and leave them behind. Did I mention the lovely 100% microfiber sheets in a tropical environment? There are so many things I can't even describe them all here without sounding like a lunatic. But it's all simply true and I wish we could've been saved from this experience, so I hope this will save you from it. The person is "nice" enough, but this isn't a review of her. It's a review of a place that is taking advantage of travelers. Instead of being in paradise I was repeatedly left with the opposite feeling. It would be so easy to reinvest just a tiny little bit of the money she makes back into this and have it be a business with integrity. This was a huge very rare splurge for us, and it was an extremely disappointing trip. It's night and day from the other lovely housing experiences we had on Oahu that cost half as much. Thank god for the Earth because she played her part beautifully. The setting is the best thing about this place. read more

This place is amazing. **Location** A few minutes walk to the Lanikai beach. The bus 671 to the Kuaila Downtown is also 2 minute away. **Amenities**: There are beach towels and chairs available. Bread, fruits, yogurt and juice are also provided by the host Janice. **Fun**: The community is a perfect place for a morning run from Lanika to Kuaila Park to Kalaheo to Makapu (near the Army Base) to Maunawili Stream Trail and back to the downtown Kuaila Rd (Total is 7-8 mile). Many good breakfast restaurants and coffee (Chadlaud's Latte must try it!!) choices there. The pillbox is also about 10 minutes away. Morning hiking for the Sunrise! Swim, boating, and so on. Janice is also super nice. The studio is quiet and clean. highly recommended it. read more

This wonderful B&B in Kailua was just perfect! Janice, the owner, thought of everything in stocking the B&B with snacks, coffee, toiletries, beachmats, beachtowels - I could go on and on - but it was amazing what all she had stocked the room with! The room was spacious and comfortable. The patio was an added bonus. We could walk to the beach and Lanikai, but we usually drove to the beach at Kailua (5 minutes)...so great location also! This cozy bed & breakfast is located close to Lanikai beach by Kailua. Me and my boyfriend decided to get a room for a weekend after he got back from a 6-month deployment and we surely picked the right place. We got there late in the evening but the owner had already told my man that there would be signs to our room and the door would be open. We had no problem finding the house with the help of the GPS on his phone. After parking we stood in front of this beautiful white house and like the owner had said, we had no problem finding the room. The room itself was simple. The fridge was loaded with juices, yogurt, bread and other goodies to eat for breakfast. There were even fresh coffee that we could grind and make in the morning. Yumm! We ordered food from the Shack and they delivered right to the door. The bathroom was big and everything was very clean. They also offered things that we could bring to the beach like beach chairs and coolers. And the best thing of all, we were never bothered by anyone. I loved the privacy of the room and how now windows faced another house. All we had outside our window was trees and greenery. If you're on honeymoon or just want to get away with your loved one this is a great place to go. I highly recommend this place to everyone that need to get away for a moment. Call early and you might even be able to get the suite with the outdoor jacuzzi! We missed out on that but still had a great time. It truly is a hidden place. read more

The location of this bed and breakfast is amazing...the room, clean on arrival, with goodies that were to last 5 days for breakfast..the definiation of a bed and breakfast is a bed and a morning meal, this did not happen, the room was never cleanef, sheets never changed and fresh towels came on request. We have been doing bed and breakfasts since the 1980s, and we have always had hot breakfasts every morning and room cleaned everyday.....Janice is quote pleasant and willing to provide help recommendations .However if you are expecting the norm bed and breakfast this is a no ..we do bed and breakfasts so we dont have to bother with breakfasts. If no breakfast and room not cleaned each dag is not a problem for you, be here you will love the location . read more

This little studio was a taste of paradise. I stayed here for a week with my fiancé and it was just what we needed. It's a 30 minute walk from the town so we rented a car for a couple of days. We were on a budget so we bought groceries and took advantage of the room's toaster, microwave, fridge, plates and utensils. Our host also left plenty of snacks and beverages which was a sweet surprise. The room also had WiFi, cable tv, fan and air conditioning. It was an 8 minute walk to the most beautiful beach (we know because we drove around the island) Janice also offers snorkels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, cooler and boogies to have a perfect beach day. Our host was very attentive but gave us lots of privacy. I never wanted to leave :( read more

Hate to write a negative comment for a small business.. but here we go.. I booked a trip to this B&B for Jan 2018, 7 days and paid in full $1,550. 3 days after reservation I got very ill and to the advise of my physician I could not travel for a while. So I needed to cancel reservation, at this point we were still in December 2017. They charged me over $300 for just being in reservation 3 days. Terrible customer service. read more

We just returned from a 9 day stay at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. I almost hesitate to give it 5 Stars, because I want it to be available for ME when I return!! But others have let the cat out of the bag, so to speak, so here's the bottom line: It really is quite special. OK, what can I tell you? This B'n'B is peaceful and sublime - a respite from the craziness of the Waikiki and Downtown Honolulu side of the island. The walk down the hill to the beach is an easy one. You meet up with residents walking, running and biking around the loop. The beach is the kind you see in postcards, and is only crowded on the weekends, but never to the extent you will see in the body-to-body crowds at Waikiki. Some will tell you that you don't get a cooked breakfast here. That's true - you get wonderful pastries, fruit plates, little treats and a LOT of privacy. It's Hawaii's style to not impose, so I loved that we had options and a way to cook a little if we wanted, some wonderful fruit (Mango! Papaya! Bananas!) along with options for cold cereal and oatmeal. We could eat breakfast at 4 Am and then go for a walk on the beach to catch the Pre-sunrise, or we could lay about in bed until noon and eat breakfast whenever we wanted. I prefer that Local style over the rigid dictates "breakfast will be served from 7AM to 9AM" There are restaurants near by that I will also review. This lovely little Studio had it's own private entrance, a peaceful and relaxing view of the garden and all the wonderful tropical trees, and the sound of bamboo wafting gently in the breeze. We had a nice little deck with chairs to sit outside and enjoy the summer breeze and even the gentle rains. The room doesn't have air conditioning, like most Hawaiian homes. But the louvered windows on three sides gave us a great cross breeze that was assisted with the overhead fan during a few of the hotter days. When we arrived there were signs everywhere welcoming us, showing us where our room was, directing us where to park, etc. We were told by Janice that we could expect that. It made it easier on us so we could wander around after landing at the airport and not try and rush to meet her at a specific time. I liked that we could find the place and there was a key in an agreed spot waiting for us. The signage was very clear and easy to follow. After we found our way to our room we found Janice outside working in the yard and we did get to see her and talk with her. She's a charming hostess and made this trip very special. She is also always just a phone call away. She is one of the most thoughtful hostesses one could ever wish for. There were boogie boards, beach toys for kids, beach umbrellas, rain ponchos, beach chairs, beach towels, shampoos, soaps, conditioner, razors, wet bathing suit bags... anything you could possibly want on a beach stay. It was exactly like we had stopped over at our Auntie's house to stay for awhile. Absolutely top of the line hospitality and homey-ness. I can't say enough about how wonderful Janice's welcoming hospitality was. In fact, I had read about that in other reviews and it was one of the reasons we rented there. The rooms are roomy enough and surprisingly comfortable and large *FOR LANIKAI.* This is not a huge island, nor is this a huge community. If you've never been to Oahu, you need to know that there are a lot of people on this rock and not a lot of land. Houses in Hawaii are traditionally a little smaller than what you'll see on the mainland. It's an island. What can they do? Madame Pele has added some real estate to the Big Island of Hawaii with her lava, but that will be a few thousand years before it's habitable. So don't expect a huge place. Expect that you will be out and about on the island and on the beach for most of your stay. Expect that it will be damp. It's ALWAYS damp in Hawaii. It's the Tropics! Pack light, but know that Janice has ample room in the closet and ample hangars for all those clothes you probably won't wear anyway! Pack sturdy shoes and beach walking flip flops. Hike, Swim, walk around, boogie board if you dare, go into the small town of Kailua and avail yourself of all the wonders of the many restaurants. If you play your cards right and aren't there to sightsee, you can go to Kailua and Lanikai and never leave that side of the island till it's time to go home! It's that good. (Full Disclosure -- I'm a former resident of Hawaii and have been in love with this place since I was a little girl. For me this was "a trip back home" and I absolutely loved it! read more

Be Warned when booking on homeaway.com , this places listing is misleading and false advertising . The price is shows on homeaway.com shows it sleeps 7 and includes 3 bathrooms , and 3 rooms, however when i got a call from representative at this property it was only for one room, I specifically put down 7 people and my dates for 5 nights.. Not happy at all with this and would advise not to deal with this place as they are doing a bait and switch. read more

Our stay at Hawaii's Hidden Hideaway was perfection personified. The room was extremely roomy and comfortable. We were in the Peacock Room which also has the only hot tub, right outside our door, with a large deck to sunbathe on. Almost no reason to walk just one block to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!!! The owner, Janice, is one of the most personable person you will ever meet. Her attention to detail and ability to anticipate ours needs was uncanny. We will definitely stay here our next trip to Hawaii read more
