Let's just say my 6 year old was more interested in circling the lazy river a bazillion times that I could barely pluck him away to go on this bridge....I was finally able to convince him to check out this spot. He enjoyed riding down the two slides with a small line. But eventually we ended up back in the river and at the bigger slides.. This attraction is perfect for young ones to play around and explore. It doesn't get any deeper than a foot at most. Reminds me of the kids section at Wet N Wild waterpark. I'd say it's great for mommies or daddies and infants through toddler stage to play around in. Chairs are usually taken early on in the day but you can sit in the water with them no biggie. I didn't see any lifeguards on duty in this area but it could have been me trying to watch my own child the whole time. After reading other reviews, I did notice a couple parents on top of the bridge..during my short duration there, they did not get scolded.. Oh and this bridge closes quite early. So if you want to check in and hit the pool, I'd hang out at this location first before exploring the other pools.

See LOW RATED YELLOW STARS, don't be too quick to make a judgment call and decide not to go…read more Sometimes it's best to check it out for yourself than to assume it won't meet your expectations. This is exactly what happened to me! As we turned the corner bend, "Whoaaaaa this park is spacious and the playground is colorful"! Need to say both me and my son was super excited to check it out! 1) This is Park has its own lot. No need to worry about Parking on the street like most. There are ample parking. 2) Restroom is not your typical Park Restroom! From the outside is a small building on the right side of the playground. The Women's Restroom is very clean inside with 2 stalls (1 small / 1 large) and the best part it has *Baby Changing Station*, *Seat Covers* & *Soap Dispenser*! If you need to bring your baby in a stroller, no need to worry about getting the wheels dirty and wet. 3) Can't say enough how the colors really brightens the mood and has my son excited to play! It's safe for ages 3+ and with a fun challenge in the middle to get their mind stimulated. 4) Here's a fun twist, on the left side there's a Fitness Equipment Area. It's super convenient to incorporate a quick workout while your keiki play at the playground (of course, if they're old enough to play without assistance). Either way, there's playing space for both parents and keiki! 5) If you're an Ohana with a Family Dog, there's also a fenced off Doggy Area to the far left! I haven't been inside, but from the outside it looks quite roomy for the doggies to run around. 6) Alongside with the great variety of choices, there's a large field of grass! Perfect space to have practices, large groups to workout, let the keiki run around loose, and even kite flying! As large as this park is, you may want to bring an umbrella or baby tent for shade as there's not really anywhere to relax other than a tree in the back or near the restrooms. Upside, there's 3 tables if you want to kau kau as well! Hoalauna Community Park hits all the aspects you'd want for everyone! Let me tell you, it's a "ONE STOP SHOP"!

What more can you ask for in a community park?…read more Hoalauna provides something for everyone in your family, no matter their age! Your fur babies, too! 2 dog parks, multiple exercise equipments, playground for your little ones, picnic tables for you parents and kupuna's, an entire 30+ space parking lot, CLEAN restrooms; need I say more? There is also a ginormous grassy area that can be great to let your little ones one freely without getting too close to the road. One downside to the park; there isn't much shade. Aside from the minimal tree shade, and the shade from the umbrella partially covering the playground, there's not much to work with. Fixable by bringing your own umbrella (: We love this park! Mahalo to the previous yelper who mentioned that they allow parties here (with a permit). I'll definitely be looking into that for future events!

Pros: peaceful, not well known or used, usually pretty empty, has b-ball court and large maintained grass area Cons: hot, no shade, playground is suited for 5 - 12 yr old (says the sign), not very toddler friendly, dingy bathrooms Some ppl come and just sit in their cars (maybe eat, meet up, or ?). I bring my kids occasionally since I work in Makakilo. Nobody bothers. Sometimes there are homeless, but it currently looks cleaned up! The park maintenance does pretty good maintaining this park. C&C could upgrade the bathrooms tho! 2 stalls in women's side, not good lighting, but water fountain works! Always bring your own TP in case...it is C&C parks afterall.

The two times that i've brought him here to play, there were no kids and we stayed pretty long, still no kids came. However there's a bunch of randoms that do park here for lunch break or to come chill in their cars or a bathroom break. Both times i came here, there were tow trucks that scout the parking lot making sure cars are using the appropriate parking stalls etc. i do like that The playground is fenced off due to the fact that it is right by the freeway.. by the way the freeway noise does not bother. I jus really like this spot because there isn't any kids whenever we go, perhaps not really favorable or well known spot.

Is it possible to move the basketball machine to the other side? My drinks got knocked over twice by the basketballs (on 2 different dates) because the cafe was right next to the machine. Just a suggestion if the owner is reading this. And I really love that you guys have the small toilets for young kiddos! I heard other parents praising about that too! Would be good to see those at the new location! It makes a big difference for kids being potty trained! As always I love kids city and thank you to all the friendly staff!

I left feeling pretty disappointed. The biggest issue isn't the equipment it's the operation. You're paying premium prices, you're required to buy Kid City socks even if you already have perfectly good grippy socks and yet the experience doesn't feel premium. If you're going to enforce those kinds of rules, I'd expect the facility to be cleaner, cooler, and better supervised. The layout also feels disconnected. Unlike Keiki Kingdom, where everything flows together naturally, Kid City feels like a collection of separate rooms rather than one cohesive play space. There are plenty of fun attractions. My kids enjoyed themselves and there are definitely more individual activities here. But what stood out just as much was the number of employees who seemed to be standing around while the things that actually mattered weren't getting enough attention. The bathrooms were sticky, some areas could have used more frequent cleaning and the ball pit was frustrating. Bigger kids were constantly pushing through toddlers, including my two and four year old and there wasn't much staff presence to keep things safe or redirect rough play. I found myself stepping in far more than I expected. None of these issues are difficult to fix. A little more attention to cleanliness, better supervision where kids naturally mix and friendlier service would completely change the experience. My kids still had fun and that's ultimately why we came. But as the parent paying for it, I expected more. Right now it feels like a two star experience with the potential to be much better.

I also can try the cul de sacs, however most times these side streets are pretty crowded. w So why would I need to go the park when it's raining? Well, just like everyone else around the area, I have a dog and I live in a townhouse. Poor puppy will wake me up at 2 am if I don't get her good and tired. So, we go to the park. Leading into the secondly... Secondly, I have been doing this for over a year and by now, my dog has friends. Like, a lot of friends. And the humans aren't so bad either. We, dogs adn humans, all get along swimmingly, giving both our dogs and us a chance to socialize. We share water bowls and trade dinner ideas, rosemary and training tips. It's a responsible, playful and peaceful scene. For the kids, there is a jungle gym that can get crowded, tennis backboards, and basketball courts. Also open space for playing whatever else you can think of. It can get crowded in the afternoon with baseball practice and the A-plus kids. Also the kids can leave a lot of rubbish and snacks around that the dogs can get into, so you gotta watch that. But other than that, its a fun, sober, happy hour. See you there!

Unrelated to this review for the Makakilo park, I'm trying to get back into writing one review a…read moreday to make up for the slack over the past couple months. Now that I have more time on my hands, I will TRY to write a review everyday. Maybe in hopes to refine my writing skills, too. Lol. Anyways, I thought I'd write about the Makakilo park today. I don't visit often, but it's nice to relax and enjoy good food and company. I used to like the feel at the Kapolei park next to the rec center, but this park is nice as well. One thing I like about it is that there aren't that much people, if you're planning to go in the afternoon to evening time. That being said, you can bring your whole family, friends, and pets to enjoy the whole park to yourselves. Some features of the park: ~Basketball courts, a volleyball court, and tennis courts in the area. There are also nearby restrooms too. However, no seat covers, but there are doors for your privacy. ~Exercise equipment for early bird or late night owl work out. I would really very much appreciate it if these equipment were within walking distance of my house, so Makakilo residents that live nearby the park have a real treat. Monkey bars, climbing ladder, and sit-ups may be done on these equipment and instructions are posted too! ~Playground for the kiddies ~Water faucet for easily accessible water if need be ~Excellent for large gatherings. Just be sure to bring own tables and chairs as these are not at the park ~Wide courts for riding unicycles, bicycles, and scooters! ~Small parking lot, but adequate if carpooling Nonetheless, a nice park for recreation and exercise. There's that added breeze since this park is atop Makakilo. :-)
