The food throughout the property was very good--tried mina's fish house and the breakfast buffet restaurant. My only gripe is that mina's fish house was chock full of screaming kids running around, probably from Aulani next door. Four seasons should embargo those PIAs. Love the service at the pool and at the beach, and loved how the infinity pool was designated a quiet zone. The one thing I couldn't get enough of was the sweetest freekin' pineapple I ever had in my life (in the lounge)! I will definitely be back and again in the off season so I don't have to see so many screaming kids from next door.

The décor is very dated, and the lighting is dim with a purpose to hide the dirt! On the plus side, the bed and sheets were comfortable and good quality. Housekeeping only refreshes the room every 3rd day, although you can request fresh towels. Just note that you're expected to take out your own rubbish. The resort is quite isolated, with Waikiki about a 30-ish minute drive depending on traffic. The onsite restaurants and Starbucks are overpriced (see my Starbucks review). You'll definitely want a rental car if you plan to leave the resort--and parking is a ridiculous $48/night. For me, this is a one-and-done.

From the moment you walk in from the entrance to the main hall the towering ceiling above gives you a sense of grandeur and Hawaiian pride. Though everything has the Disney touch to it, the culture and mana of the islands feel like they've settled on the grounds. It helps when the community plays a big part in activities and decisions made for the operations. Aulani is a large employer of Hawaiians of course, but it feels like the culture is also respected in regards to their day-to-day operations. From monthly events showcasing different hālau hula to storytelling to the keiki (children) about Polynesian culture, Aulani feels like they respect the land and the people. All that being said, the property itself is wonderful. Having a lazy river, their own cove into the ocean, large towers overlooking the island, several restaurants on property, easy fast casual dining options, plenty of pools, and proximity to Monkeypod across the street, many people who visit never step foot outside the resort for good reason. The property is so self sustaining you can really enjoy "your rent" haha. Though Aulani is never the only destination when visiting Oahu, it is a trip worth taking when you want the distinct experiences of Disney and Polynesian hospitality mixed together. A truly fun family space, if you're in Oahu and looking for the above sentiment, there's no reason not to visit.

That made the experience feel much more like actually living in Ko Olina for a few days than staying in a hotel. Comfy beds, a spacious kitchen, plenty of room to spread out, and everything we needed to settle in. And then there was that balcony view. Every evening the sun put on a show over the ocean. I took an embarrassing number of sunset pictures and regret none of them. The beaches here are amazing, and N and I walked every single day. The grounds are beautiful, the lagoons are right there, and the whole place has this easy, peaceful rhythm to it. The staff were super friendly, the gym was great, and I loved unwinding in the hot tub at the end of the day. And then there was my unexpected tryst with the adorable mongooses running around the grounds. I became slightly obsessed with spotting them. Six days went by much too quickly. A true home away from home, with beaches, long walks, sunsets from the balcony, and a hot tub waiting at the end of the day. Hard to beat that.

However, the resort pricing overall food value was disappointing. At check-in guest are giving a discount card for 10% of Off at the Market and certain resort locations, which is appreciated. However, if you forget the card in your room while heading to the pool or Beach, you were simply out of luck since purchases can be charged directly to the room, it seems like the discount should automatically apply to the guest account instead of requiring a physical card. The 10% discount definitely helps because Hawaii is already expensive but the price is at the market and eateries felt excessive. For example we had 6 drinks and two orders of fish and chips at Long boards and the bill was $171. Unfortunately food felt like it mediocre pub food, which made the cost even harder to justify. Overall, we love the beauty of Ko Olina and the warmth of the people, but the resort pricing felt comparable to Disney without the food quality or value to match.

They do offer parking on the premises, however they do charge $40.00 a day, which i thought was pretty pricey but didn't have a choice we had rented a car. The girl at the front desk told us the area was safe and there is usually parking outside the hotel for free, we didnt pay for parking our whole stay! Our room was super clean , updated and super spacious! We got a call daily asking if we needed anything, you can get beach towels daily without issues as many as you like. The cook-to-order breakfast was simply AMAZING!! The food was great and the cooks are super nice and welcoming. Our youth group decided to check out Wai Kai for our end of summer activity. It just so happened…read morethat it was the weekend before school started and it wasn't overly crowded, surprisingly. We had a group of 6 and many of us had never been here before. Wai Kai was quite easy to find; just plugged into my GPS and drove. I was surprised to see that area and how much development has happened in the last 10 years but I digress. We had purchased the day pass which was all day, from 10:00am - 4:00pm. The full day was a good call cause we lucked out and snagged the last 4 lounge chairs and umbrella. Since we were between the cabanas and the life vest distribution, we got to see all the action. ;D Everyone wears a life vest, which is awesome cause I got tired at one point and was just able to float without having to work hard. I had looked up photos of the space but not any reviews and I thought I knew what to expect...boy was I wrong. I was not expecting to play American Ninja Warrior as I made my way around all the obstacles. I was so worried about having to get up if I fell in so I was really careful in the beginning. I'm old so I went at my own pace and let our kids just go wild. When it started getting hard to get out of the water I took it as a cue that I need to take a break and enjoy being old. I loved watching all the kids run around and play and make friends with other kids who were there. I think many of us really enjoyed the giant slide (I certainly did) and the trapeze swing (which I didn't do). There was a great cafe for lunch that had sandwiches, burgers, and pizza with shave ice and ice cream for the dessert-a-holics like me. :D I enjoyed the club sandwich and kalbi plate. We ate it all! Our kids got Hamburgers and Fries which made me re-think my choice but I was happy with what I got. There was a short break at approximately 1pm so everyone had to come back in. This was nice because it gave time for the people who had only a half day to return their life vests and the people who were just coming in could find seating and get their vests. I relished the short break because it made our kids have to sit and hydrate and talk to one another. Everyone also recharged so that we could go back for more! At around 3:30 I really was feeling my age so I called it quits but the rest of the group stayed out. We had so much fun! This is such a wonderful place to be with family and friends and I HIGHLY recommend. We decided we want to come back again next summer so figuring out how to incorporate it into the already busy summer schedule.

The photos really didn't do the place justice!! Absolutely gorgeous with stunning views of the ocean and the lagoon. The master suite was super luxe with en suite bathroom (soaker tub was used almost every night). Check in was a breeze with the super wonderful Angel and her partner. They checked up on us ever so often. Very nice people (understatement). Checkout services checked my flight info and accommodated us in very courteous way.
