Coffee cake muffin & cuppa joe.
Rok J.

Pretty ordinary eats at standard prices. Easy to find & lots of on-street parking on a weekday morning. Cuppa joe was middle of the road. Not strong in either the flavor or jack-me-up categories. Let's just say that as a cup of coffee it sufficed and not much more. The coffee cake muffin was decently moist with almondine & cinnamon flavors being pretty much the only two tastes coming into play. The texture was loose & crumbly enough to have me chasing broken pieces of the muffin across the table to round them up. Crumb topping was standard fare. Young lady at the counter was friendly & helpful. Premises were a balanced mix of bright palette colors playing smoothly with the extremely high stamped tin retro ceiling, which made the sparsely accessorized space feel way spacious. Premises were also VERY clean. Demerit for unupholstered metal chairs with flat, uncontoured seats. I guess that's one way to keep your customers from dawdling at the table. Bathroom was not only clean, but also tastefully decorated to match the rest of the decor.

The BEST tasting gluten free cake I've EVER HAD. I've been a diagnosed celiac for 10 years and I haven't tasted cake that was as amazing as this. I normally hate frosting but I could eat this frosting all day. Beautifully done for my wedding! Thank you!

The prices are so darn steep for a sub par product. (Says a Woman who will gladly pay $4.95+tax on a single GOOD cupcake). We didn't get what we expected- some "okay" picked over baked goods and an okay atmosphere. Unfortunately the products sell out far too soon (before 12 o'clock, noon!) and are not any better than the average person can conjure up at home. Such a limited selection. I suspect they sell out due to lack of inventory, not demand. I wanted this place to be so much more. We hoped for- and we need a solid bakery in northern MN! Ordering is confusing and awkward. Menus are condescending per items. Seating is almost obsolete- singles sitting at 4 seaters and what not. We had to interrupt a party of two to ask for a stool to borrow. Eeeeee awkward!!! I'm seriously wondering if the Pillsbury dough boy is back there against his will.

Yes! So happy to have a bakery in downtown Brainerd! The space is welcoming, clean, and with plenty of tables and chairs. We tried the Pumpkin Whoopie Pies which are soft pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting in the middle, delicious! We also tried their blueberry tart (think teenie tiny pie in teenie tiny pie pan, cute and yummy!) They had amazing looking apple cranberry pies too with crumble on top. Service was friendly and fast.

Waited over 50 minutes for our food. My husband ordered triple dare ya with hash browns....what…read morehash browns ? Got enough for 3 bites. 2 adults and they sat us with kids all around us. Not a good experience from the start. Food was just ok....

I waited to post about Perkins until I'd been there a couple times because one bad experience could…read morejust be a bad day. When it comes down to it, the chef needs to be fired if we're being honest. Ordered one of their specials and it looked like a mini version of the photo, if the photo had been burnt to a crisp. The funny part was that the you could tell he tried to hide the burnt pancakes by flipping them upside down to show the less burned side. Our food arrived extremely bland. Even salt would have been something, but there was just nothing there. Like eating paper. Their syrup was watered down very obviously. Even the coffee tasted like water dyed brown. I will say there was one good food item they brought us, the prepackaged diced fruit. Good job, farmer. I gave a little grace because the hostess was kind and informed us they were backed up and running slow. But two waitresses for 6 tables total is a little ridiculous to get backed up on. I picked Perkins today to give them a second chance and because it feels more open and less cramped than 371 diner, however; I forgot that Perkins has a special on flies. 3 per customer. If you're looking for breakfast and want a Denny's feel, save yourself the hassle and just go to 371; cuz Perkins doesn't hit the way it should. If the manager wants to get more people in the restaurant, things I'd fix: pest control, a chef that knows how to cook, and waitresses that actually remembers when someone asks for water or Cholula.
