A little wait, but totally worth it! This mom-and-pop joint serves up juicy, tender fried chicken with perfectly crispy skin. The snow cheese adds a savory, indulgent twist, and the cheese corn is an absolute bomb--perfect with a cold Korean beer. Don't skip the seasoned fries; it makes for a complete meal for two. If you're looking for the best Korean fried chicken in Chula Vista, this spot won't disappoint!
Absolutely Incredible - Crispy, Flavorful, and Guilt-Free! Knockout Chicken completely lives up to its name! From the very first bite, you can tell this isn't your average fried chicken. The texture is unbelievably crispy--light, airy, and perfectly golden--thanks to their use of rice flour instead of traditional batter. It gives the chicken that satisfying crunch without feeling heavy or greasy. What really sets them apart is how they manage to keep everything tasting indulgent while still feeling like a healthier option. You get all the flavor and crispiness you crave, but without that weighed-down feeling afterward. The chicken itself is juicy, tender, and clearly made with care. Every bite feels thoughtfully crafted, from the seasoning to the crunch factor. It's rare to find food that hits this perfect balance between delicious and better-for-you, but Knockout Chicken nails it. If you're looking for crispy chicken that tastes amazing and feels a little cleaner, this place is a must-try. I'll definitely be coming back again and again!
I was down in Chula Vista for my son's water polo tournament nearby and we didn't want to be held hostage by the snack bar so we went on the hunt for some awesome fried chicken. Low and behold we found Knockout Chicken and confirmed that the title didn't lie. The exterior of the restaurant is a bit understated but if you've got any experience in finding hidden gems, that's usually a good sign. Focus on the food and not the Facade!! We ordered Wings, Ramen and Spicy Chicken Sandwiches. All of it came out fast, fresh, and amazing. The breading on the Chicken Sandwich and wings was light but flavorful and had a great crisp to it. The ramen was hearty and delicious as well. You can't go wrong with this place. We need them to offer a Salt and Pepper version of their wings next and we'd drive down there from North County!!! Even my mother in law who typically doesn't approve of any places other than her 5-6 favorite restaurants was raving about it. Keep up the great work!!!!!
Amazing service, very clean establishment and quality food that you can taste. The chicken is so juicy and large pieces! You are definitely getting your moneys worth! The rice flour breading is very unique. Apparently not many places use this type of flour as it's more expensive and healthier for you too! The owner was so attentive and sweet to my all customers! Support this business! They deserve it! It's a great shopping center too! Plenty of parking and very safe!
I want to say I'm deeply disappointed in the food. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time now I moved back from Georgia where I experienced Korean fried chicken for the first time and I was excited to come and have it again here in Chula Vista. I went in for lunch the cashier/waitress was very friendly so I give her a five star review. The fried chicken wings were crispy, but did not meet up to my expectations, as they were flavorless. I ordered the 12 piece wings with a soy spicy sauce and a honey garlic sauce and when I received my order, my wings were dry and I got sauce on the side. When I ordered wings I expected them to be coated in sauce, not dry and have to dip your own wings. however, upon tasting the wing sauce, I realized that it was not authentic Korean chicken sauce. what was given to me for the honey garlic, was pancake syrup with too much garlic to hide the maple syrup flavor , and it was extremely watered down like it was so runny and it was cold and it was gross. The soy sauce, was OK, but it lacked imagination. It was again very runny and I was not what I expected. Authentic Korean sauce is thick. I expect the sauces for these kind of wings to be thick and flavorful and these were not. I asked the waitress if she could trade out the sauces for me she brought me some other options and all the options that she brought me were a complete fail. My surprises me is the barbecue sauce. I quickly could identify it to be sweet baby Ray's spicy barbecue so nothing about this place screams authentic Korean chicken, and I can only assume that the owners are not Koreans because the flavor is not there. A paprika and water sauce as spicy Asian is not a thing. I won't be back.
I can't get enough of this place, especially their Korean fried chicken made with rice flour--it's a game changer. The chicken comes out crispy on the outside, super juicy on the inside, and always made to order, so be sure to order ahead if you can. The fact that we have legit Korean fried chicken right here in Chula Vista is incredible! I spoke with the owner, and it turns out they've been serving up this deliciousness for four years. Every bite is fresh, and I love pairing it with a side of rice, relish, and coleslaw--seriously, it's the perfect combo. Whatever sauce you're feeling, get it on the side and dip away! If you're craving some amazing fried chicken, this place is 100% worth both your time and money. Do yourself a favor and check it out!
We got the chicken katsu plate, spicy soy garlic chicken and Cajun fries. Everything came really hot and crispy. The chicken katsu was their own breading with the katsu sauce on top, a little different from traditional katsu but really good none the less. The Cajun fries were fresh out the fryer without being greasy and the perfect amount of Cajun seasoning. And finally the spicy soy garlic we asked for mild and was a great balance between sweet and savory with just a small hint of spice, not to mention really crispy. Service was really good as well, would definitely recommend if you're in the mood for some fried chicken!
Summary: Duckbboki is better than the chicken, ask for sauce on the side to avoid $3 extra charge, ordering whole is cheaper than two halves We came around 12pm on a Saturday. It wasn't busy at all so we ate at the restaurant. We ordered the Duckbboki, half of sweet & spicy, and half of spicy soy chicken. We wanted to do the half & half order option but that only gives one sauce option with original. If you want to try two sauce type chicken you have to order them individually in half sizes. Whole size half & half is 28.99 while half sizes of any flavor is $14.99. And if you ask for the sauce on the chicken, they charge you a "toss fee" of $3. We were not notified of this fee so we found out after leaving by looking at the receipt (we paid at the counter before leaving). So we paid $48.46 in total before tax for the three orders including 2.49 for one fountain drink. The chicken was juicy and crunchy but their sauce was more on the watery side than the thicker syrup style. So getting it tossed didn't really make a difference as we were keep dipping it in the sauce in the plate. Some pieces were dry but it was probably because they were flat small pieces. Neither of their sauces were spicy at all so if you can't eat spicy food, these two options would still be good for you. The portions wasn't too big as three of us ladies were able to clean all three plates.
First Time Trying this place for Fied Chicken and wings. Very nice Cozy and Modern spot . My Family was up for a snack before going to Smart and Final for Groceries and we seen their Restaurant and wanted to try their Chicken. We Changed our plans. We went inside and ordered the Triple spiced Chicken wings which was actually a Whole Chicken chopped Fried in a sweet and Spicy Fiery sauce . Chicken was Crispy, Spicy with a hint of sweetness and Juicy center everything you look for in eating Fried Chicken and wings. We also had the Spicy Ramen which was very tasty as well . Customer Service was great and actually got to speak with the Owner as he prepared our food and came out after to make sure everything was on point. We will be going back for Dinner another day so we can try some more of their delicious Chicken for sure. The Owner also informed us that thier Chicken is Gluten for those that would be searching for a delicious Gluten free Option for Fried Chicken.
I got the kimchi, sweet potato fries, and fried gizzards. The kimchi and sweet potato fries were okay. The fried gizzards were fried perfectly. I wish there was some sort of sauce added even though it said there was spicy soy garlic, I didn't taste anything but just the fried batter. The lady who took our order was nice and friendly. Plenty of seating inside and it is located in a shopping plaza so plenty of parking.
The chickens are really good and perfectly fried, I usually order the original because I don't like to have chicken tasted sweet and this is perfectly cooked. Paired it with Ramyon and Pickled Radish is truly makes the food tasted better, I loved radish just like eating tacos with radish makes the palette get reseted lots of times.
First of all I love the hospitable staff. But man... the quality of the fried chicken is 5 stars. Perfectly breaded and fried. Perfect for the palette. Great perfect spot to go to after work where you just want to unwind and drink a beer and enjoy some perfect fried chicken
I ordered the 5-piece legs and thighs to go. When I opened the box, I first thought I'd mistakenly been given boneless nuggets due to the size of the pieces. Once I got home I realized I had two drumsticks and three chunks of breaded white meat (legs and thighs are dark meat) - - Highly disappointing as I do not eat white meat. So essentially I received two drumsticks for $13. That said, the chicken had just the right amount of spice (not too hot) and the two workers I interacted with very were friendly. One star given for atmosphere due to the lack of air conditioning (it's over 80° and it was stifling inside the restaurant). I really wanted to like this place but alas, I will not return.

First time and would comeback when craving for some Korean chicken and will try other flavors. Ordered: Half & Half Chicken - (original and honey garlic sauce). Crispy and juicy chicken. Lacks seasoning on both. Should had more honey garlic sauce smothered over the chicken to enjoy/tasted the marinated/flavored chicken. Same goes with the original, more salt and black pepper I believe wouldn't hurt before adding the batter. Their French fries though; it's been the best/crispest we've had for a while. Also ordered pickled radish to compliment the chicken. We got our orders 10-15 mins so ain't bad since three tables were waiting for their orders too. Great customer service. Clean and organized dining set-up. read more
The food is delicious. For a gluten free person like me, finding fried chicken where the breading doesn't fall off is a blessing. But for two pieces of dark, side of rice and Cole slaw, $20 is too much. And we waited over 30 mins to get our food. But the lady was really nice and we enjoyed our email. The space itself is no frills with many fans running at once. But it's clean. And tasty. So no complaints. read more

This was our first time at Knockout Chicken in Terra Nova Plaza in east Chula Vista. My husband and I, walked by the restaurant on a rainy day and could smell the fried chicken from outside and decided to try Korean Fried Chicken in rice flour batter for the first time. After a cold rainy day in San Diego, all I wanted to order was a hot soup and spicy fried chicken. We ordered the ramen noodle and Original Fried Chicken with cole slaw and all three were delicious!! The chicken was very crispy and had a lot of flavor. We ordered the spicy. We also ordered the sweet and spicy fried chicken to go. The restaurant was clean and the owner was very nice. We'll definitely be back to this restaurant!! read more

We were in the area and had a craving for Korean Fried Chicken.. We had the whole chicken half original and half honey garlic with a side of the Cheese Snow. The meal came with side dishes; coleslaw and pickled radish. The chicken was crispy and moist. However, I was expecting for the sauce to be tossed in with the chicken, but it was just chicken sitting in the sauce. But we did use it as a dipping sauce. The honey garlic sauce was good, the garlic flavor was not overwhelming. We were excited to try their cheese sauce so we ordered it on the side, pictured. So sad because it was essentially a bowl of Parmesan cheese and it reminded me of the green bottle of Kraft Parmesan cheese. I was disappointed because the cheese sauce/flavor is my favorite and have had it at other Korean Fried Chicken places. Ultimately, we became bored of the chicken. Not if it was because the chicken not being tossed in the sauce, which made the chicken not as flavorful as we're used to at other places... Other then getting bored, the chicken was cooked nice and crispy. It was a bit salty, just a bit. It wasn't oily either. Server was pleasant. Overall, not a bad lunch. read more

I had a good feeling as I walked into Knockout Chicken and was greeted by the fried chicken aroma. I noticed they have a Monday and Tuesday special 12 pieces for $19.99. You get a mix of thighs and drumsticks. It's interesting the drumsticks retain the bone but the thighs do not. Loved the crispy skin and thin rice flour batter had a nice crunch. Chicken was hot and juicy right out of the fryer. They cook to order and it takes about 15-20 minutes. I normally don't order spicy dishes but while the chicken did have some spicy flavor it wasn't burn your mouth spicy. 2nd visit I tried 12 wings for $22.99. I ordered them mild. I much prefer them mild as the flavor profile was mostly salt/msg. Batter was thin and crunchy. Wings were tender and juicy. Loved the fresh fried flavor. Wings were cooked to order and took about 15 minutes. Staff was nice and got my order out in a timely manner. read more

Wow! Ordered the half and half x 2... comes with half order crispy original and a flavor choice! We tried the honey garlic and the other flavor is spicy soy! Option to make level spicy strong if you're into that! One order can honestly feed 2 to 3 ppl ... added Steamed rice on the side. Even the kids meal boneless strips with fries is good enough for 2 kids! Portions are big enough to share! The kimchi is spicy and delicious and the snow cheese fries is a must try! I think snow cheese fries are now my favorite! The sauces for chicken are on the side.. which makes sense to keep the chicken fr getting soggy! Waited 10 to 15 mins ... the dine in is clean. For beverages... option for soju and beer or fountain drinks! Peter is the owner and he is super friendly with a sense of humor! He even offered and insisted to bring the food out to my car! Wow such service! The family is happy and full! read more

Came here a little while back on a weekday for a late lunch. A good option for takeout, but they do have tables for dine in as well. We ordered some fried chicken and it was plenty for our little family. Superrrr crispy. The fried chicken itself didnt pack on a whole bunch of flavor, but the sauces are where it's at. We were expecting the chicken to be tossed in the sauce but it was served on the side, dipper style. Try the Honey garlic sauce, yum! You must also order the fries, these were good. Flavorful and crispy on the outside. Radish or cole slaw is also a nice side to korean fried chicken. The employee working was quiet, friendly, and took care of us well! read more

First time there! Excellent customer service. The young lady cashier welcomed us and explained the whole menu to us which was great because it was our first time there. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I had a favorite other place for fried chicken but let me tell you this place changed that. We'll be back! The chicken was delish! Very lite and flavorful. They use rice flour to batter. Kimchi was yummy too. They're in the Terra Nova shopping center to the west of Smart and Final. You'll love it! . Give them a try. read more

The taste is there. When I ordered, they told me that they would charge me $3 extra dollars to toss the chicken in the sauce. I ordered spicy soy chicken, and that's what I paid 14 99, my 5 pieces will be 17.99. I don't if it's just me, but when I look online to find a place and it's not written down on the menu, then that's a bait and switch. I left the sauce on the side because I was a bit upset and the taste was good but not great. * I mean the had a fried chicken 6 pieces for 12.99 and the spicy garlic chicken for 14.99 read more

As stated in my last review, hubby and I came back for Knockout Chicken's Lunch Specials. We finished our food, except for the rice. Would have been better if there were options of: 1. Rice or fries 2. Coleslaw or shredded cabbage 3. Pickled radish w a hint of sweetness or just vingar-based pickled radish Otherwise, the price, quality, and quality did not disappoint, We normally go to Convoy to eat quality fried chicken and get our boba. Owner might consider adding boba in the menu and include as a drink in a meal? read more

Food here is amazing. I'm writing this review after I came twice to this wonderful place and got the chicken sandwhich with honey garlic. You can tell it's high quality ingredients just by the taste but also how the honey is actually sticky not like some bs they sell at chick fil a or any other place. The people who work here provide wonderful service and ambiance is nice and chill and very clean. Must try location in San Diego. read more

Is the chicken gluten free?
Hello Alyssa, the chicken and batter is gluten free but our sauces are not. While we’ve never had a health related issue, it is important to know that the rice flour we use is prepared in a facility that also processes wheat flour.
