    Bathroom in suite

Were we to go back to Ketchum this would be our first thought for lodging. It is spendy but you get what you pay for. SERVICE: Stellar service from making the reservations through every part of our stay through check out. (As if they aren't sweet enough on their own, at check out as thank you we were gifted by the desk staff with a couple of luscious chocolates in a pretty box.) The people working here understand hospitality and how to make guests feel welcome. We found ourselves coming and going several times a day on each day and it never failed that every encounter with staff was top notch. In that regard we'd put them in the class with the staff for The Allison in Newberg, Oregon and that is high praise. LODGING: It was a bit of a surprise to find the facility was older than we expected it to be and although upgraded the rooms still reflected some of the age of the structure. As one example, the height of the (very spacious and well appointed) bathroom counters were 32"'ish which is an older building standard. Our five star benchmark for a boutique hotel is The Allison and by that standard this one is a bit shy of the mark. Still, the suite was spacious, the bed was comfortable, all was well maintained and the suite had a balcony overlooking the cemetary next door where Hemingway is buried. Lovely outlook if that doesn't trouble you to have so many "quiet neighbors". It also helps to be mindful of what a gift it is to have opportunities to stay at places like this. BREAKFAST: Breakfast was laid out in a cozy breakfast room every morning in buffet style with Continental options as well as a couple of hot dishes. Great coffee and to go cups available if you wanted to take a cup with you. Ipads were provided for reading the morning paper of your choice while you ate. I typically avoid free breakfast at hotels when we stay where they are offered, but I looked forward to it every morning here for the ambiance and eats. ON PREM RESTAURANT and BAR: The last night of our visit, being pooped from a long day out and about we decided to eat at the hotel's restaurant on site. While it gets great reviews, we found it to be a just OK dining experience for us. Good enough for the purpose of our evening, to have a cocktail and a light dinner, but from food through service it wouldn't be a destination restaurant for us were we back in Ketchum. THIS N THAT: 1) TIMING: Is everything, as they say. For opportunity to stay here at a slightly reduced rate, look for that sweet spot in weather that starts mid to late October which is a tourist shoulder season in Ketchum (after the Running of the Sheep) and extends to before the winter tourists arrive. Call the desk directly and see what specials they can provide. Be aware that some reservations are prepaid and are non refundable. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Parking is a challenge if you need accessible parking. One spot near the door but as I recall not van accessible. The building was level in and throughout on the first floor. Elevators between floors. Didn't inquire about accessible (ADA) rooms.

Craft cocktails in lobby bar on Christmas Eve

Knob Hill Inn is fabulous!!! We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas and had such a magical experience. The staff treated us as if we were staying in their home. Our room was cozy and romantic with a wood burning fireplace and holiday garland on the mantle. Our north facing balcony was a place to view the falling snow and catch a glimpse of an elk herd. The property is dog friendly and allowed us to bring our 4 month old Labrador puppy...they provided dog bowls and treats in our room, and even gave us a handwritten card and gift for our pup on our last night. Thank you to Reagan, Josh, Grace, Lorenza, and Byron (Ringo!) and all the rest of the staff who made us feel like family. We can't wait for our next visit!

Great first stay at Knob Hill Inn! The fireplace rooms have an actual wood burning fireplace, which I have rarely seen and really enjoy! The rooms are spacious and great (only room for upgrade IMO is hard surface floors instead of carpet). The bathroom has a soaking tub and separate shower and L'Occitane toiletries. The hotel is right next to a graveyard (a famous one though with a very notable figure's resting place (bring an offering of alcohol for tradition)), just FYI if that freaks you out. The restaurant and bar are also fantastic as is the complimentary breakfast! I would certainly return in future visits!

We stayed during ski season and here are the things I was most happy with (in no particular order): * The said it was a continental breakfast so I wasn't expecting all they offered like fresh local bagels and pastries, fresh berries, cut up pineapple, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, a very high quality granola, oatmeal with all the fixings, a pancake machine, juices, coffees with syrups and milks, lots of high quality tea choices, scrabbled eggs allow and with some mix-ins sometimes cheese or veggie, hard boiled eggs, meat like bacon sausage patties or links, sometime or potato like hash brown patties or shedded hash browns, roasted veggies, and on the weekend days they offered salmon with capers and onions. Plus flavored yogurts in individual containers and whole fruit like apples, oranges, and bananas. * humidifiers in the room. The hotel is so dry. We live at elevation in Park City, UT but Ketchum is drier! We ran the humidifier on high constantly but it was so great they offered this in the room. * they have a parking garage. It is $30/day AND there are easy access free spots around the hotel, but I imagine during peak season the offered parking is best. And it's covered so your car will be snow-free! * the heated pool for year round enjoyment (and two hot tubs). The air was too cold for my liking (because you have to get out eventually). * pretty decent gym with peloton bikes. * oh and the restaurant happy hour seems to be a hit with hotel guests and locals. The one huge downside was because it's so dry and they don't have a humidifier installed for the hotel, we got static shocked every time we touched the elevator buttons or unlocking our room. And it hurt! And when you're in town, I recommend the city museum, the wolf museum, the library, and the cemetery. And if the pedestrian paths are snow-free then head down Sun Valley Road.

After he told us what time the bar and kitchen close, we quickly made our decision of what we wanted to order. When he came back he walked right past us and SAT DOWN with two other girls at a table to talk and flirt with them for about 10-15 minute. we decided to go to the bar to order becuase he was chatting away and there was no bartender. the cooks were very nice though. FINALLY he came over to us when we were standing at the bar I told him that we just wanted to order before the kitchen closed, and he awkwardly took our order. When my friend asked if they had decaf coffee, he said they "don't really have that" BOY what do you mean a hotel does not have decaf coffee?! so I ordered what I thought was a rhubarb crip pie. I thought it would be worth it, boy was I WRONG. I can handle bad service but after spending $15 damn dollars on a dessert my ice cream was old, we could taste the crystals and some was a little chewy, in case you don't know that's not how icecream sound taste. and when I looked at my "Freshly made" pie it was literally rhubarb filling with some soggy stuff on top. NOT freshly made, and I couldn't eat it, I was so sad. Also we never got an apology, so that sucked. as Gordon Ramsay would say, " apologies to your customers and shut it down." So limelight, I just want my money back or something because that was an awful experience. - Angry Customer!

When we replied that we were concerned about the housekeeping department not closing the door completely so that it would be locked he said the housekeeping employees had been there for years and that it would not be an problem. Unfortunately, when we returned to our room after sightseeing later during our stay we discovered that housekeeping had not completely closed the door. We were able to enter the room without using our key. This was the second time we found our door was not secured. One employee's response about the door problem was "it's an older hotel"! Our numerous complaints about the door were mostly ignored and not addressed by hotel employees. The severe headaches and breathing problems I experienced only occurred while I was in the room. They began shortly after we were in the room awhile and completely went away after leaving the room. We only used the fireplace a few times for short periods at the beginning of our stay. We discontinued using it because we were afraid it was causing the headaches and breathing problems. There was definitely something in the room causing my headaches. My sister also had issues with her breathing while in the room. Her bed was further away from the fireplace. The manager's response To my complaint was uncaring and inappropriate. Her inference that the headaches and breathing problems were caused by hiking was ridiculous! I do have severe asthma and allergies but did not experience any headaches nor breathing problems while sightseeing (from our car). Hiking was not an option because of recent back and knee procedures. Walking is difficult and that is the reason I requested a room near the elevator when making the reservation. Unfortunately, the room we initially given was at the far end of the hallway. The second room was a few doors closer to the elevator but still quite a long walk for someone with mobility problems. Our complaints about the multiple issues we encountered during our stay were largely ignored. Management was not helpful.

I had waffles I had breakfast potatoes with ketchup and it was really really cute and very very yummy. My sister had cereal And hot chocolate. BEDS: best beds I've ever slept on in hotel very very comfy. I slept right next to the air conditioner. but the only Downside of the bed is that it sometimes gets too cold or too warm. ROOM: the balcony is lovely, even though it was shared., the bathroom was very well decorated. it had a marble counter and it had a bunch of different pot products that you could put on your skin and hair the TV also wasn't very well place. It should've been it should've been in the middle of the room. so both sides of the room could see equally. POOL: there's a pool here and a Hot Tub and it's very very nice but the only thing that isn't good about it is that in the pool it has a bunch of pinecones in it and other unwanted debris Game Room: there is a game room here that has 4 Game ping-pong, air hockey, tic-tac-toe and foosball. And there is way more. There are a lot of board games in the lobby as well. Wi-Fi: was very hard to get to the password and wasn't even really that good anyway. Other things to add: this is the best hotel. I think I have ever been to. I recommend coming to this place if you are a deep sleeper. and are willing to pay a high price. This hotel feels like it's never ending. It's really cool. They are outdoor rooms. There are indoor rooms. It's so big! This is the coolest hotel I've ever been to!
