Not much new selection. Disorganized; can't access needles and notions yourself. Must pay to park.

I came here for the first time looking for a gift for my Nanny who is an avid knitter and crocheter.

If I had known this was going to be the case I would have never signed up. When I went back to return my unused yarn and complained they provided me with another name to call - I have already out $148 - no thank you very disappointed.

I am very happy I did! The Blue Purl is a beautiful shop. It looks like you're hanging out in someone's beautiful den (who just happens to LOVE knitting with TONS of yarn on shelves). Here's the brilliant part: The Blue Purl has several preset kits you can buy as gifts. Each one includes all the yarn you will need with a card or paper inside with color photos showing you what the end product will look like. This was *perfect*! I wound up finding a set and it made for a super easy purchase. One more fun thing: the shop owners will also wind the yarn for you at no additional cost. This is probably old hat for knitters but for me this was a very cool thing to witness so I had some fun too! I highly recommend The Blue Purl if you need gifts for a knitter or need supplies for yourself.

There's also a nice section of tables and chairs by the window to just sit and do some knitting + socializing with other people working on their WIPs. I called the store in advance to help set aside some yarn (so I could just pay right at the counter) and they were super accommodating since I was looking to get a ton of yarn, too. Overall, the yarns at the store are of great quality and price, and the selection covers nearly all types of yarn for all sorts of projects. I will definitely make this my local yarn stores for my future projects, and they carry one of my favorite yarn brands like Knitting for Olive! Heads up: one of the staff said that they rotate yarn fibers seasonally so you're going to see more selections of wool/heavier yarns in the fall and winter, and lighter yarns like cotton in the spring and summer.

I learned from my mom when I was about 8 years old but got back into it during the pandemic, eventually making a dozen hats, scarves, and even a cute cardigan! Pick Up Every Stitch is perfect for knitters and crocheters of all levels, ages, and abilities. They have all the supplies you could ever dream of, and I love how there are always people in the store working on their projects. The store has created an incredible community of crafty people who share a love for knitting and crocheting, and I have met wonderful people there! They've got plenty of parking in the back and local street parking in the nearby area. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area and looking for a new craft!

Michael's of Nanuet is located in the Rockland Plaza where you'll find plenty of parking…read more It's a full Michaels arts & crafts store, so you'll find art supplies, scrapbooking materials, yarn and knitting, frames, beads, fabric, home décor, seasonal items, and more. They also do custom framing -- you can make an appointment at this location. Party supplies and balloons are available; they have in-store balloon inflation and custom arrangements. Michaels offers in-store and online classes/events, such as crafting demos, sewing, cake decorating, etc. With so much to offer, they do still have some things that could use improvement. Many items have no prices on them and I couldn't find a price scanner either. It's little tedious to have to approach a sales person every time you want to know a price. It's also a little messy here. Checkout is self checkout here, with an employee hovering over to assist. You'll also find weekly coupons online to use. Ship enough and you'll earn rewards dollars to too.

Michael's Nanuet, NY store is an utter disaster. Open cartons and pallets of merchandise scattered…read moreabout with no rhyme or reason. The main problem is that they offer NO ASSISTANCE to the customer who wants to actually locate what they are looking for in-store. And really it's not the fault of these few and far between sales associates being overwhelmed with their daily job tasks then they get interrupted by a customer looking to find an item or a price. Many items are not marked with prices. Items in different locations within this store are like panning for gold. If you actually find the item you are looking for, then yayy for you because THERE ARE NO EMPLOYEES ON THE FLOOR WHO ARE ABLE TO ASSIST THE POOR CUSTOMER WHO DOESN'T HAVE 45 MINUTES TO SEARCH FOR AN ITEM THAT ULTIMATELY THEY WON'T FIND ANYWAY! This is based upon my own experiences with embroidery and crewel floss. The aisle with the DMC floss looks like a bomb hit it. The worst problem is that most of the little labels directing the buyer to a certain shelf for the number of DMC floss they are looking for cannot hope to find anything because most of the labels with floss numbers have been ripped off or taken down. This has happened to me so many times that I now order online from Amazon or Hobby Lobby. No customer has the time to literally get down on their knees and randomly look thru this mess of floss for their color. If one is very lucky and finds the correct location on the unmarked shelf, rest assured that the space is filled with a dozen random colors and whatever they are looking for is not there anyway. And let's talk about checkout! There are about 4-5 self-check-out kiosks at the front of the store and they don't take cash. One is encouraged to check out in this manner rather than wait on a huge line for one frazzled minimum wage employee to check them out and issue the proper sale prices and rewards vouchers. Again, this is not the fault of the poor minimum wage checkout employee who is trying to check people out while being bombarded with other buyers desperate for assistance. And now Michael's Corporate Office has decided, in its infinite wisdom, to add another 2 responsibilities to these poor minimum wagers- specifically cutting bulk fabric and blowing up party balloons. If a brick-and-mortar store is going to add these otherwise desired services, then PLEASE INCREASE the number of employees working there. Today I had an awful experience when I purchased a Michael's/JAdler minimum edition side table. I ordered it for home delivery, was charged $14 as a tip to the driver, AND IT NEVER WAS DELIVERED! Those of us that work cannot be expected to continuously check their personal emails to see if the item is in stock/out of stock when the website says it was IN STOCK! I waited all day for a side table that was listed as in stock in the Nanuet store but ultimately the purchase with the confirmation on it was bogus, as a few hours later I received another email saying the item was not available. I would have appreciated a phone call or text (yes, I'm signed up for text alerts) as I'm not free to be to be seen at work doing personal business on company time. I'm still trying to find out if my refund was issued to my debit card, and what's more maddening is that my $5 voucher has disappeared. I hope y'all understand my continuing dissatisfaction with this store, but they're the only game in town since we lost A.C. Moore and Joanne's. I could go on and on, and I KNOW I'm not the only buyer who has encountered these glaring issues, so droves of us have taken our business to Amazon and/or Hobby Lobby. I dread going into the Nanuet, NY store and try to avoid it at all costs. Get your act together, Michael's, or you too will go the way of A.C. Moore and Joanne's.
