I called once for help with losing a needle of a very expensive set I had bought there, and I was told that my question was odd, she had never heard it before in her years of working at a yarn store. I just wanted to know if their rep or owner would have insight. I don't work for a yarn store, so I've never spoken to a rep, but I spent almost $200 on these needles and specified I wasn't seeking a refund, just help. Also, they are homophobic openly. In this, the year 2026, do better. Edit: every time I've gone in I've been followed. I have tattoos and am queer looking. I received scoffs at my questions. This solidified a decision I made in January when your staff was rude for the third time not to give you my business ever again. There's nothing to discuss. Be better.

The store also has lots of knitted samples which is great way to see how the yarn looks and feels once knit and of course gives you ideas of all the beautiful things you could make too! The staff is knowledgable and helpful. They offer all sorts of classes too including topics beyond basic knitting. The store is clean, well lit and organized. The store hours aren't great for the typical person though as it's usually open only until 5pm and only on Saturday.

It's a delightful sunny little store with lovely canvases, a good selection of different kinds of fibers and other needlepoint supplies. They have classes for all levels, as well as one-on-one help. They have finishing services to turn completed canvases into pillows, ornaments, belts, etc. There are also beautifully stitched examples all around the shop. The co-owners are friendly and knowledgeable. One is a former owner of Needlepoint of Back Bay, the shop that was a couple of blocks away on Newbury Street. The shop also carries gorgeous yarn for knitting and crocheting, along with patterns and classes. They're a refreshing alternative to the rudeness and hostility you encounter at Knitting and Needlepoint on Newbury street. As a gifter, I don't fully understand how I didn't know about this place before, but I'm so glad I do now. I went for a family project recently when closer craft shops didn't have what we needed. There's an abundance of arts and crafts supplies here, housed in two interconnected basement rooms, along with an impressive paper and picture frame selection (among other items) on the first floor. The atmosphere is one of a kind--more like an arts-and-crafts boutique curated by the owner, with items you won't easily find together elsewhere. Because of the sheer breadth, some categories (like fabrics, for example) have a smaller variety, which is just an observation, not a critique. Ribbons are unrivaled. If you don't have time to wander, ask--the best part of our experience was the owner, Carol, and the staff (thank you, Lilly). They are wonderfully kind, patient, and creative, offering thoughtful, gentle advice for your projects and genuinely care about their customers. Tip: There's a parking lot in the back or bus 87 drops you off right in front, literally. Highly recommended local business.
