It's a cheap? No. Is it worth it? Yes. Here's why: 1. It's the closest thing you'll find inside Legoland that resembles food from the "outside world." 2. With the exception of a few items, the food is pretty good. 3. It can be as carb-heavy or protein-heavy as you like, depending on your food selection. 4. It feels almost like a proper meal. So here's the lowdown: I ordered a ton of food. In fact, I think I almost ordered everything off the menu save for the salad because, I mean why? I'm on a mini staycation. There's no need for salad. The "meats" are cooked pretty well, but the ribs and the pulled pork was a little on the dry side, but it was nothing a little sauce couldn't fixed. There's a variety of sauces awaiting the tables outside, so you can choose to enhance it as you please. What was really dry was the chicken. I was so disappointed. Not only was it dry, it was flavorless. No amount of sauce could fix that. I paired every bite of chicken with sauce and pickles, and still, the blandness of the chicken just overwhelmed every bite. The brisket was by far the best. I highly recommend. The fries were good. As long as it is crispy, it's hard to go bad with fries. The kids meal wasn't bad; it just wasn't extraordinary. It's mostly your standard kid options: hot dogs or chicken tenders, fries, apples, etc. What was really good aside from the brisket was the corn bread and baked beans. The corn bread had such a delectable outer crust and had a good corn flavor on the inside. The beans, whether it was from a can or actually made from scratch I couldn't tell), was a nice complement to cut through the insane amount of protein that I had ordered. I always have to have veggies with my meal, so I was disappointed that there was next to nothing to choose from. The only thing that looked like it grew from the dirt were the green beans, and that was just a complete letdown. Not only were the green beans hard from being roasted for far too long, it was just so greasy and inedible. What a waste. Overall though, this place is a nice reprieve from all the "junky, fast-food" feel of amusement park food. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Overall rating on the food = 8 / 10! That sauce though! High five!!!

Couldn't believe how delish this place was especially at an amusement park! Love the atmosphere outside! Fries were bomb including the veggies fries! Chili was superb! A little spicey but overall great quality.

We payed a lot of money for food sitting under a heat lamp that was not very warm. It was just ok. I mean we didn't want to leave the park since we were trying to get all of our Legoland money's worth ! So we decided on BBQ inside the park. Hubby did not like the chicken, my son wasn't thrilled about his ribs, also cold and not the fall off the bones kinda ribs like we are use to. The meat was actually quite stuck on the bones chewy. We all did agree that the cornbread and baked beans were yummy and our favorite meat was the pulled pork and brisket. The choice of sauces on the tables was pretty nice. Overall it was just ok

Different BBQ sauces, my fav was the "GOLD"

The BBQ is surprisingly good! The ribs were great and the chicken was really juicy. We always have dinner here when visiting the park.

Not a big catfish person myself, but the catfish nuggets were actually pretty good. On the flip, sides were really good. The mac and cheese is amazing, potato salad was boring (pretty much just potato and dressing) but at least homemade, hushpuppies were some of the better Ive had. The woman at the counter was handling the many takeout orders like a boss and super helpful/friendly for this first timer. All that being said, I was disappointed to end up unswallowing everything for an hour straight. Not sure what item made me sick but the rest of this $41 meal is going in the trash.

This was my first dine-in experience at this location. Had the beef ribs tickler with sausage, coleslaw, and fries. The ribs were straight-up bomb! they were super meaty, tender, flavorful, and nicely charred. The sauce has a nice sweet, tangy, and spicy balance. The link was a good portion with a good smoky flavor, and the coleslaw and fries rounded out the meal nicely. Service was efficient despite a busy lunch rush and the staff were really nice and welcoming. The catering trays we've ordered have always been solid, and that same consistency carries over to the dine-in experience. It's a little pricier than your average lunch spot, but the food actually tastes good and consistent every time, which is why Phil's gets 5 stars.

When I am ordering just for me, I always get the baby back rib tickler. I like how it comes with 3-4 ribs, fries, coleslaw, and onion rings. We got the Beef Rib Dinner (Full) with potato salad and coleslaw, chicken wings, colossal onion rings, loaded fries, and a side of macaroni salad. All of them were solid, but my favorite is still the well balanced baby back rib tickler for its flavor and price.

I recall it being a delicious and a wonderful dining experience. I have been looking forward to bringing my family and friends here all week. I am giving this restaurant 3 stars, because their food is still AMAZING and their staff is super nice and I believe deep down inside that they just had a REALLY OFF night. We had reservations for a party of 9 last night. The table was set up nicely and accommodated a few extra if needed, which I thought was cool. We started with some adult beverages: an Old Fashion, some Hotel Nacionals, a Fashionably Late, and a couple of beers. Everything started great. Dennis, our server was very cool and friendly and gave great suggestions. We ordered the mac and cheese sides and they were delicious with huge pieces of savory bacon in them. We also ordered the brussel sprouts which we never received and didn't even realize it until the very end when we received the bill because of all the other issues we had... but we'll get to that in a moment. But let's talk about what did go well... the delicious food we did get. We ordered the Pig burger which was sooo good and came with crispy fries. The fish for the fish and chips were 2 huge pieces and were delicious, came with yummy seasoned waffle fries and the tiniest tartar sauce and malt vinegar. I had to request 4 more for that amount of fish, but no big deal. Dennis brought out as much as we needed. Their ranch sauce is really good too. Don't judge just because it's a little peachy'ish and looks thousand island'ish. lt's still some very good ranch. My son said he really tasted the bitterness of beer in the fish batter but maybe it was just in that piece he had; I could not taste it in the piece of fish I ate. The short rib was really tender and delicious... the sauce was just a tad salty for my taste, but the mashed potatoes it sat on sort of balanced it out a little. The fried chicken thighs were really cooked well, juicy, crispy and seasoned perfectly. We ordered two Teres Major steaks. One rare with mashed potaoes, one medium rare with grits. The rare one came out medium and without any mushrooms, took FOREVEEERR to remake (the rest of the table was almost done with our meals...& not sure why it took so long since the restaurant wasn't that busy and it's a RARE steak). The one with grits came with mashed potatoes instead of grits. Dennis was super nice and apologetic and corrected both mistakes when we let him know. He then brought us a big bowl of grits. The manager (blonde gal) came over and apologized for the mistakes tonight, letting us know that usually does not happen, and let us know she'd be comping one of our steaks and would be bringing a dessert on them. We thought that was very nice of them. However, as nice a gesture. we never did receive that dessert. My husband handed Dennis his credit card before the bill arrived (before our friends could try to pay the bill) and not sure why but our bill never came, and we never saw Dennis again either after he boxed up our leftovers and took the card. We had to ask another server for our bill because we had been waiting for quite a while... and needed to head out as we were already late to meet friends at a lounge. The other server came back with my husband's credit card, the bill (that's when I finally noticed the brussel sprouts sides we never got but were charged), and let the server know. He immediately apologized and took it off the bill. So I'm not sure what happened last night at Flying Pig...missing and charged brussel sprouts, steak overcooked, missing mushrooms, mashed potatoes instead of grits, then a comped dessert promised but never delivered. WOW. I had to apologize to my friends. I was totally hyping up this place and it underdelivered. They automatically got their 20% gratuity for our party of 9 but anyone that knows me knows how much I absolutely love great service combined with exceptional food and that could have easily been a 30-35% tip had they been on their A game! We only come to Oceanside once a year. Maybe we will try again next year. Maybe not. This trip was about trying out a bunch of different restaurants and giving honest reviews on dishes/businesses we haven't tried before, or in a long time. Do better guys.
