The food is so fresh and light. I love all of the different flavors and how delicious it is every time I come here. The service is so good and the people preparing the food are so fast. Its very chill to just sit in and eat. I have both times and there never is a lot of people who sit in during lunch so I get the personal experience of feeling like I am the only one there. They are so nice here. I also got the combo plate to get a little bit of everything. The chicken and beef are cooked so perfectly and tender. The rice is so soft and light. I wish that I could prepare something so good at my own house but then that defeats the purpose of coming here. I always get a Turkish coffee to finish off my meal. Knafa is delicious! Even though I placed it to go order the staff, we're friendly and ambience was unique. When I arrived home, I was pleasantly surprised by their sandwiches. This place is great! We were greeted as we entered. The gentleman behind the counter offered us a sample of falafel after we ordered. Delish. We ordered the warm dolmas and an entree for each of us. A great local eatery and grocery store. We had: Sharma Sandwich, baba gnocchi, falafel, and a Jerusalem salad. While the fries that came with my sandwich were soggy and slightly under cooked due to uneven hand cut fries everything else was tasty and well made. While in Youngstown, I stopped by Knafa after seeing that it was a Middle Eastern Restaurant. I entered the restaurant and saw a couple of people who were eating at a table. I reviewed the menu and decided to get the mixed grilled kabob (Lamb, Kafka, Chicken) with pickled vegetables, corn, and rice. The meats were seasoned well and tender. The pickled vegetables were tangy and crunchy. The rice was not seasoned at all which threw me off and the corn seemed unnecessary for the dish. read more

It has been almost a year since we came in after a bad experience. There is NEW MANAGEMENT and the restaurant has fully blossomed. It is warm and inviting. The staff is so friendly. Even with a busy full building the service is excellent. We had the most delicious hummus, kebab and schwarma. The tea is a perfect way to sit for a minute while digesting. My husband said the baklava is the good kind which drips of honey. We found out there is a Sunday buffet and if you feel like staying home you can order from Grubhub. We stopped here during a road trip. I placed an order ahead via an app and was surprised when I arrived after the designated time and it wasn't even started. With a hungry family waiting in the car, they had to sit there while all of our food was cooked. Easier said than done with a 2 year old. All of the food was decent, but overpriced for what it was. The hummus comes to mind. You are given a generous portion of hummus but only a single pita. How someone could use all the hummus with a single pita is beyond me. Maybe if you dumped it all over your meal, otherwise AT MOST you could eat 1/4 of it and then decide what to do with the rest. I ordered the gyro which had plenty of fat chunks throughout. A lot of the pieces were inedible because they contained more fat than meat. Being from the Detroit area, I've had my fair share of amazing gyros. This one wouldn't even make the "honorable mention" list. It was enough food to feed us for the night, but I would probably pick another place if given the choice in the same situation. read more

I really, really, really wanted to give this family owned business 5*. I ordered from here to be delivered a couple weeks ago & it was atrocious. I got a chicken swarma wrap & grape leaves. The wrap was dry & the grape leaves were all dried up & the girth of a pencil. I was so disappointed because we need a Middle East restaurant in this area. Today my husband & I stopped for lunch. We got the 2-tabouli, 2-lamb wraps (+ 1 mixed drink $28). This was like ordering from a totally different restaurant. Everything was tasty & fresh. You can smell a light hint of the wood fire stove. The closest I have been to Mediterranean food has been the occasional Greek wedding. But after seeing reviews and pictures on yelp, I decided I had to try it. And I am glad I did. Wifey got Shrimp Kabobs and I the Chicken Shawarma. Both were excellent. The lamb is my next time dish for sure. And then there is the K'nafa... Another first for me. Where has this been all my life?! I really hope they do well here. This is a definite nice addition of some variety to the area's cuisine chooses. The staff here is friendly and warm. I had a chicken shaurma sandwich. Mleh ... Very Americanized version. They bake their own pita bread, but, for some reason, are using flatbread from a grocery store for shaurma. And not a good one, probably from a Walmart. The main issue with their version was that shaurma is supposed to be baked (grilled)on that shish and not fried on American grill. I actually don't even understand why it's called a grill, it's actually a big frying pan. I can not blame them, they did not invent this way of cooking shaurma in this country. I just don't like it. The on site wood fired oven means that the food is really delicious and it makes a clear difference. All ingredients seem fresh and everything is properly cooked---I had lamb which is so easy to overcook and make gamey but it was perfect. This place is across the street from my work and I LOVE middle eastern food so I was so excited to try it and am very disappointed to have not liked it. I would have probably just contacted the restaurant directly versus writing on here but they don't have a contact option on their website. They have the potential to be great, just not there yet. The service is very slow and I had to order two different times, once when I was rung up and again while it was being made. I ordered a chicken shawarma bowl and asked for lettuce base, they later told me they were out of fresh lettuce. They were also out of cabbage. I had to get a rice base instead and the red rice is just way too much saffron among other things, for me - It's overpowering. Others might like it. They advertised "sumac onions" but they were just raw white onions. The portion of rice and chicken was great but super light with the toppings. I think I had 4 pickle slices on my bowl and my side of garlic sauce was a teaspoon. She was way overly sparing with the harissa sauce on top as well. Also, I just wanted a side of hummus and the only option is the $5.00 appetizer serving. Way more than I wanted or wanted to pay for. The bread is also cold and considering they have a brick oven running I was disappointed. Overall disappointing. I would suggest that the management goes to a Naf Naf Grill. There's one in Independence, and lean more towards their formula. read more
