I had a great therapist prior helping me with that, but due to health reasons she had to retire. I floundered for quite a while and figured it was time to find a therapist again to coach me out of my rut. I was especially interested in someone that was trained in EMDR since that was something I hadn't tried. (Trust me, I've tried a lot). I talked to friends and doctors looking for a "great" therapist. I talked to many therapists on the phone and tried one for a few weeks and realized there definitely wasn't a connection. Another trusted doctor gave me a referral to a therapist that she knew was good but it turned out her practice was full at the time. She referred me to Kelly who she also held in high regard. After talking to Kelly on the phone for 10 minutes I had a good feeling and made a face to face appointment. (I personally prefer and appreciate she still does office visits.) My intuition was correct. Kelly is smart, caring, empathetic, and an extremely skilled therapist. I am very impressed how well she listens and remembers what we talked about weeks and months ago. (Not all therapists are good at that). She has many techniques she draws upon and is also good at helping me do the work and hold myself accountable in a very caring and nice way. I really don't understand how EMDR works and it seems somewhat strange but it actually does reduce and disconnect some very old and recent traumas. I don't care about the mechanics, it's working. I've been with her about 6 months now and I'm encouraged how things are heading in the right direction for me. I feel very grateful that I found her. She is one of the "great" ones!

And at the same time I was feeling frustrated and upset with my current health situation. I was seeing practitioners and even specialist and getting no answers. So, I decided to go and make an appointment with Dr. M and have been seeing her for over a year and a half now. She is amazing! Her and her assistant Sunny are warm and welcoming and make you truly feel like you are important to them. You feel like you are being heard and every ailment matters. Not only do you feel like you are finally being understood by a knowledgable professional, Dr. Maraio spends a good amount of time with you finding the root causes. She educates you and helps you have a better grasp on what your body is going through and how to alleviate the pain and stressors. For the first time I finally understood what my body and mind needed and how to take important steps towards optimal health. I completely contribute it to Dr. M and her guidance and vast knowledge. Dr. Maraio has not only been a doctor diagnosing me, but a mentor and a support system that has completely changed my life. I'm absolutely glad to be back, as I've been suffering from mild to extreme vertigo due to this overwhelming summer heat and exhaustion. Had to be treated to conventional pharmaceutical drugs several times, with no satisfactory results from prescribing Valium, mclezine, cetrizine, etc... all of which only mask the symptoms of the vertigo, which comes back and still makes me feel like I'm unsteadily moving around this fast paced world with my head immersed in a fish bowl. Enough already!! Well, I'm back with vitamin shots, and it sure has helped more than the conventional pharmaceutical drugs that my regular hospital doctors prescribe. Yup, sometimes that's all it takes: good ol' natural vitamin shots, and voila, vertigo is a little more controlled... and not regulated by hospital quacks, but by your very own choices.
