Dr. Michel Jean-Baptiste is an outstanding psychiatrist and incredibly knowledgeable. Also great…read moreknowledge with my condition of bipolar disorder. Good listener and I feel like I get good therapy. I had less success with others in the practice including Maria Merola, APRN. It's very important to have the right doctor. And I have to knock the practice down a star because they can be difficult to reach at times and you usually can't leave a message with the answering service. This has been frustrating at times. But Dr. Jean-Baptiste is excellent.

Dr. Michele Jean-Baptiste has been my Psychiartist for well over a decade. When he met me, I had…read morebeen misdiagnosed for many years, and I was extremely ill. Dr. JB, as I fondly call him, was the most thorough, empathetic, and trustworthy Psychiatrist I had ever met. He had a complete neurological work-up completed on me to rule out any physical causes of my symptoms. He spent a great deal of time with me, asking questions no one had asked before. Then, he met with my husband and I to share the results. He explained my diagnosis, and said it would be very difficult to determine which treatment plan would work, and that we'd have to make adjustments to that plan for the rest of my life. He promised that if I didn't give up on him, he wouldn't give up on me. And he meant it. All these years later, although I am now disabled, I live a much more stable life, because I've learned what I must do, and what I must avoid to stay as well as possible. Dr. JB partners with my Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Therapist, and also works with my other specialists. He knows my needs. He has shown my family a great deal of support as well. I highly recommend him for anyone with a mental illness. If you are willing to work hard toward recovery, you will find he will work equally as hard to assist you in every way he possibly can.

As long as I had one suicide attempt per year I received ok care. Hospitals don't communicate with each other. VA to Yale etc. granted it's Yale, so I thought they would pull a rabbit out of their hat. But Yale is like the Titanic it's just hype. Don't believe the hype too much. They try hard. An A for effort. The food is ok. The nurses are nice just don't get 'cute' or you're going to deal with the big guys. You don't want to deal with the big guys.

Over the past weeks, my son had reached out to myself, his advisors and his PCP that he was having difficulty sleeping. This past Friday the lack of sleep finally got the best of him and he voluntarily signed ppwk to admit himself. Upon hearing this I immediately flew to CT during a snow storm to retrieve my son, but these people refused to release my son to my care. After one week of kidnapping, the staff never came up with a diagnosis which is typically done within 48 hours of admission. Although they had no diagnosis, they kept my son highly medicated. The only thing my son required was sleep and Flonase. (Prescribed by his pcp) to aid him in sleep. They never provided it to him. These people made it their business to try and break my son down and declare him a psych patient. Although my son was seeing a PCP at Yale hospital for sleep deprivation, they claimed to not have his medical charts. They ran lab test, CT scan, and neurological test, all came back normal. Even with that evidence they still felt it necessary to keep my son for a week with no real explanation. I'm sure had he no insurance they would have released him within less than 2 hours. My son was admitted on a Saturday and cleverly my son wouldn't be evaluated by his medical team until that Tuesday ( Weekend and MLK day didn't. They literally kidnapped my son and tried to deem him crazy. After a nightmare of a week the head of Mental heath for students at Yale spoke with my son and was discharged still with no diagnosis but with a slew of medication.. Run from this place and do not entrust your loved ones in their care.
