I am sure she is great when you can get by the Reception and office personnel. Sent email - New Patient. Got a voicemail the next day at 3:30.. I called right back and lady is gone within mins of callback - Was told I would get a call the next day at 8am. 8am comes around and no call.. I call them and I am told the women I need to talk to is on the phone and will call me right back. No one calls all day.. I call back at 3:30.. and they Tell me that the Lady that was supposed to be on the phone earlier was not even at work today and was sick .. Going on 3 days later and no call.... It's been three years now. I had one treatment at the one year mark. So technically it's been two years since the last treatment. But.... it Everything I said in the previous review still holds true. I have assisted two other individuals in helping them decide if it was correct for them. Their results were just as positive. Do the research yourself. There are charlatans out there, beware. I had 6 infusions with no change to my depression nor anxiety. Lori is knowledgeable and gave me hope but unfortunately it didn't work for me. She did not follow up with me after the last session which leaves me wondering if she is more profit seeking than anything. I spent 3,400.00 for nothing but disappointment. Dr.Calabrese sets the standard of excellence in psychiatry. She is innovative and effective with planning treatment.

I went to Dr. Calabrese for treatment of depression that had not responded to medications. I was informed that she did the IV ketamine treatment and asked about that, assuming that if other treatments were available she would discuss pros and cons to help educate me and inform my decision. In fact, she did not share with me that she provided other treatments, including TMS, which is effective and covered by insurance. She did share with me up front that there would be an intake interview, and it would cost $500 whether I went ahead with treatment or not. She told me I was a strong candidate for this particular treatment and that 80% of her patients had a positive result. I went through the 6 planned sessions at $500 each, had no benefit whatsoever from the ketamine, and $3,000 later was very deflated. Midway through the treatments, I asked to meet with her as I was concerned about experiencing no benefit. She spent a few minutes with me but just said that results could come later and I should continue. At the end I again asked to meet with her as there was otherwise no face to face time with Dr. Calabrese other than the intake. Her only response was to suggest that I come back for a few more ketamine sessions! This is in fact my biggest complaint: Dr. Calabrese had told me I was an excellent candidate for this $3,000 treatment that was represented as having a very high success rate. I knew Dr. Calabrese was not accepting new meds patients from the start, but it seems to me that she was ethically obligated (1) to meet with me after the failed ketamine treatment, and (2) to offer suggestions to my therapist regarding my poor outcome and a possible medication to try. She never replied to a letter I sent her after completing the treatment, further reinforcing my sense that she did not feel, in fact, at all obligated in my care. I would strongly recommend seeking a psychopharmacologist who reviews past treatment, discusses all viable treatments, and, continues to monitor her patients for at least the short term post-treatment. In accepting me for ketamine treatment, she, in fact, should have been accepting me as a patient for the duration and follow-up period of a still experimental treatment. She should have behaved as my doctor treating me as her patient, which was not the case. read more

Dr. Calabrese is wonderful. She's so caring, makes me feel truly cared about and I know my progress makes her just as happy as it makes me. She is so helpful and has lots of great advice, and really knows everything there is to know about mental illness. I highly reccomend her to everyone; she is wonderful, caring, kind, and a great person. She is my first psychiatrist, and most probably my last because I could never imagine going to anyone else! read more

Wow. Not sure how to describe my experience without sounding like a commercial. Dr. Calabrese and her staff changed my life -- and saved my life in terms of being a functional human person. I had suffered from extreme fatigue for about 15 months when I first saw her. I didn't feel "depressed" in the typical sense, but I was close to simply applying for disability and resigning myself to a much more limited life. Dr. Calabrese addressed the fatigue immediately and also realized much of my dysfunction was coming from the symptoms of adult ADD.My Dad would hate this practice. He doesn't believe in meds for issues of fatigue, energy, depression, motivation or attention. Like many, he thinks sick people should just "tough it out". Thankfully, Dr. Calabrese doesn't feel this way. And it's clear that she and her staff actually care. Not just at the first appointment -- but with each and every follow up meeting or phone call as needed. This is an incredible practice, and I wish more health providers combined the compassion and expertise and open mindedness that they bring to work every day. read more

Absolutely terrible--I specifically asked not to pay by credit card, and requested a paper bill...after a brief phone appointment (for which I was not aware I would be charged) Dr. Calabrese's office somehow deducted $125 directly out of my bank account. Not sure how she even got my bank card info--might have used a check to get my routing number. Very very shady, particularly coming at the turn of the month when my rent was due. Really didn't appreciate the lack of clarity or communication in billing, particularly the shady unannounced direct-withdrawal from my bank account without my prior authorization or having given any kind of bank account information. A financially very aggressive doctor's office that is not afraid to use shady tactics to meet the bottom line. read more

I found Dr. Calabrese to be professional and with a very organized staff and welcoming environment. The issue I had was with the dedication level to clients. While I have no doubt the Doctor helps those clients with monthly talk therapy, there is a real concern over the ability to help clients with a more intense need level. I was in crisis and the doctor seemed oblivious to my needs. Again, for standard talk therapy, 4 stars. For more intense needs, 1 star. read more
