Nice little dive bar, with great people, and better than mediocre food. Stopped in on a Monday evening, and it was scarcely populated, but the people there were very friendly, and kind. We played some shuffleboard and had some pizza and wings, and a beer each. The price was reasonable, and the food was better than okay. With a nice outdoor patio, it was a very pleasant place to visit, and we'll be back again in the future, probably order the same thing when we do. read more

We came in on a Saturday night and it was packed and busy. Service was a little slow due to how busy it was, but we eventually got our menu and order. This place has a pretty solid Pizza. Crunchy crust, melty cheese with a decent variety of toppings for meat eaters and vegetarians. It was karaoke night, so there was music and entertainment. 4 stars for the pizza! The male proprietor is perfect. He's smart, attentive to customers, strives to please. We entered the bar shortly after opening at 3. We always appreciate the full experience of a 'dive' bar. As a local, we've seen our fair share of ups and downs at the Klondike. But since Pam and Dan bought the bar, it's been a whole new place and vibe. You'll be greeted when you walk in by one of their amazing bartenders, or the owners themselves. And you're stepping into history. From the old brothel upstairs, to it being the first establishment in Lakehead. After a long nights work for a neighboring business, this is often our go to for unwinding and fantastic pizza. The Klondike Pizza is a must have (although I do recommend adding pineapple to it) and while you wait you get to hear one of many Bad Dan Jokes. If your on I-5, want good food and good company, this is the place to be late at night. Thanks for making our little town that much better. read more

First time in after living in Lakehead since 2016/17. Dinner was great! I had the Jumbo Prawns and the Bloody Mary's were awesome! My husband had the Surf n Turf! We met up with a friend it was her birthday and we met some of the locals as well. Very friendly and polite people and good service. A good time that was had by all. We will be going there again!! I was driving on Interstate 5 from Grass Valley to Monmouth Oregon to attend a Quaker gathering, and I saw this restaurant. I thought I was looking back in time to the late 40's. I saw Klub Klondike. I knew I had to stop there on the way back. (See photos #1 & 2) On the way back, I stopped in. It turns out the restaurant opened in 1948. I talked some with the new owners. They bought it this year, and they have a great eye for the restaurant's uniqueness. The food was great. I saw on Yelp that the burgers were good. Mine was great. But the fries were amazing. I haven't had fries this good since I don't know when. The place was filled with all these mid-century touches that were reminiscent of the house I grew up in. Like the knotty pine walls in part of it. The house I grew up in had a den with knotty pine walls. Knotty pine has such a late 40's - early 50's feel. It seems like it was intensely popular for a few years and then disappeared, so it is closely associated with that time in my mind. (See photo #3) The house I grew up in also had those 1950's era tables with linoleum tops and metal sides. It also had the exact same hardwood, western-looking chairs like the one in this picture. I asked one of the owners, "Where did you get these tables? Did you have to search hard for them?" He said, "No. They were there when we bought the place." (See photo #4) Then he said, "Did you see this?" and showed me something I hadn't seen in a long time--a cigarette machine. I haven't seen these cigarettes--LM, Kool, Viceroy, & Parliament--for an equally long time. (See photo #5) I saw something on the back wall and asked about it. He explained that it was a bunch of old sheet music that they found in the attic. I didn't recognize any of the songs, composers, or artists. It looked like it was from the 1920's. He said that they found a lot of stuff in the attic (where the brothel used to be, see photo #6) and the basement, but they haven't been through all of it yet. The restaurant's motto is, "The best dive on Interstate 5." This restaurant is a national treasure. It even has a historical marker placed by the Ancient and Honorable Order of E. Clampus Vitus.* I just hope the Smithsonian doesn't snap it up. *I had never heard of E. Clampus before I moved to Northern California. Now I see their plaques everywhere. According to Atlas Obscura, "Clampers--men who belong to this fraternity--celebrate each new plaque with a party. They celebrate quite often, drinks usually in hand, and are quite proud of their own confusion as to whether they're a "historical drinking society" or a "drinking historical society." read more

Arrived, ordered drinks, after about 20 minutes still waiting for our dinner order, only 3 tables in the patio and one in the main dining area. What is wrong with this. Everything you could want in a classic roadhouse. this place is been here a long time. They are actually open seven days a week starting at 3 PM - the yelp hours listed are incorrect as of this posting, they are actually open on Sunday and Monday as well. I had a big old ribeye which was quite satisfying. not quite steakhouse quality, but damn tasty. are used to just stop in here for a beer or whiskey, but these days the food menu has become good and dependable for A roadside dinner. plenty of local flavor from the usual clientele and staff. DIVE BAR AWESOMENESS! Seriously, its all about the Karaoke here - best singers I've ever seen live (including overpriced concerts over the years). And the Klondike doesn't just excel at being a Karaoke Bar. It is also a great Dive Bar and a perfect contrast to all the good for you outdoorsy activity and nature stuff that surrounds you when visiting Shasta Lake. Since Dive Bars are my favorite venue for fun times. I take my Dive Bars pretty seriously and look for a few things when evaluating whether an establishment can proudly call itself a Dive Bar. Here's my criteria: Suitably Funky Eccentric Decor - No problem. This is totally covered (literally every square inch of the place). Shuffle Board - Yeah Baby. I love showing off and this one is placed perfectly for everyone in the bar to view and potentially applaud a particularly amazing shot. Pool Table - Yep. The one at Klondike is not as prominently placed as the shuffleboard, but I'm good with that since my pool skills need some practice. Dart Board - Maybe?? I don't think they have one, though I can't be sure (refer to crazy eccentric decor). Could be that I just didn't look hard enough. Outdoor Hangout Place - Check! This outdoor area is not some tidy, pulled together patio with little matching bistro tables, but instead offers uneven ground, some plants that might be weeds, and some charming mismatched furniture in somewhat questionable repair. When you add in the Bikers (very nice by the way) that frequently hang out here, you have an atmosphere that screams BEST DIVE BAR EVER. Bar Food - Yum! While the food is not going to win any foodie awards, it works perfectly as bar food. Taco Tuesday at the Klondike is a perfect example of a bar food & beer marriage made in heaven. If it's not Tuesday and you need to eat, the blue cheese wedge salad, hamburger, pulled pork sandwich and slow cooked beans rank pretty high as "goes good with alcohol category". The Standards - Kinda. They do have some craft beers here, but in my book a few craft beers don't disqualify the Klondike as a top notch Dive Bar. Now if you think because they have some trendy brews that you should ask for a muddled, raspberry, limoncello, champagne cocktail then A. You are not in the right place B. This would not be a Dive Bar C. you will be disappointed. Ask for Jack on the Rocks and it will be made just right. Their Gin & Tonics, Rum & Cokes, and Vodka Crans ain't half bad, but you start to tread on shaky ground when you forget that this is a Dive Bar and order a Margarita. For some reason I often forget my own advice and keep trying them. For the most part they are a hit and miss. Sometimes drinkable, sometimes amazing, and more often than not you will gracefully, accidentally, but on purpose, spill the stupid drink so you can order something else. Locals - Double Check. Any good Dive Bar worth its salt has to have Locals to give it credibility. The Locals at the Klondike will not disappoint. They are legit. Fun - Always. Super cool place with even better people. So it being my Birthday we wanted to try something unique, since we live in Dunsmuir and have 2-3 good restaurants here... we read the reviews of Klub Klondike... it looked just the place for a good time and good food. Drove the 20+ miles there, got out of the car and went in... to a Twilight Zone. 1 bar customer, getting yammered at continuously by the female Bartender. We picked a table close to the only other people there, a group of 4... sipping drinks. We sat for maybe 10 minutes under full scrutiny of the Barmaid, and finally I got up and asked her what the procedure was for ordering food... she barked something about she'd take the order and then barked out "waddaya want to drink" ... I told her we had not decided yet... when I turned my back to walk back to our table she said something derogatory to my back... Poor lighting, no service, the Barmaid looked stoned...
