After 7 years we happened to be back in the area. We remembered eating here but couldn't remember the name. After some research and some help from our hotel we were able to verify this was the right place. As we remembered the service was great. We felt really comfortable as if we came there every week. All of the staff were welcoming and helpful. The original owner passed away based on a memorial in the menu. But it seemed like everything he built remained the same. My original steak sandwich wasn't on the menu this time so I got the "Friday Steak Special ". This was a hand-cut steak that was 13-14 oz steak and was very tender and had good flavor. It was much more fatty than I expected but I like a bit of gristle. This place is a diamond in the rough and they embrace the "hole in the wall" feel since it's even on their t-shirts. My parents were with us this time around and they liked the fries, onion rings, and burgers. My wife got grilled shrimp and loved it as well. This is worth venturing out to try if you are in the area. read more

Down to earth bar with good food. The staff were really nice. We were there on a Thursday night and unfortunately their supply truck had not come in and there were many things on the menu that were not available. The dirty chicken was great! We visited on trivia night. read more

I have driven by here before and it always looks abandoned. I was in the area and decided to check it out. There were two people who I could see when I walked in. After affirming they were open, I ordered and took a seat. The chicken quesadilla was good. The krinkle fries were seasoned with pepper. Everything was good and reasonably priced. It was so dark inside. read more

This is a must try spot! I love small, locally owned spots and I will forever stop here when passing through Vicksburg. Nothing fancy but fantastic food and friendly folks. If you go, be sure to have the onion rings! We have the Green Tomato BLT, Grilled Shrimp Poboy, onion rings, French fries, and the spicy fried cauliflower. Kayla was our server and it would be worth the trip back just to keep chatting with her! read more

OMG! Definitely a hole in the wall, that may have been only slightly updated since it was built in 1896, but my, oh my, their fried green tomato BLT and onion rings are something to write home about! Kayla is the one woman wait staff and made the recommendation, and for this, I am eternally grateful!! If you're ever up around Vicksburg, MS you'll need to stop by! read more

The food was decent and so are the prices. The food was pretty greasy but pretty good regardless. The service was okay, a little confusion between sitting down to eat and ordering at the counter. Other people in our party got the hamburger and chicken sandwich with fried tomatoes, said it was also very good! Overall, good experience! read more

THIS IS A CURRENT AND ACCURATE REVIEW!!! All of the reviews I read must be old and no longer accurate. We stopped for lunch and the place barely had any lights on inside. I pictured that this must be what it's like in a strip club during the day.‍The fountain drink machine was out of order so drinks were canned and you could get ice out of an ice chest that was sitting out. As far as the food, we were told that we could eat from the lunch line or get a burger with fries. I could not even tell you what was on the lunch line due to the dim conditions but it seemed to have been sitting for quite a while. I saw reviews with photos of great looking food. This was NOT that. We ordered burgers and fries and then felt like we couldn't leave. The burgers were good but the hand cut fries were too thick. Then the kicker is that it turns out a burger with fries is $14. I was very irritated to find out that my husband also left a tip when no one waited on us. A lady at the counter took our order but we had to speak to her first when we walked in. She was not friendly. She did not check on us or do anything that qualifies as a waitress/server. I don't know how this place passed health inspections and really feel bamboozled by the reviews I had read that led me to this place. I wish I had taken photos to explain to people just exactly what my family and I experienced. read more

Great Service and food. Customer friendly place and atmosphere. Stop in and just see for yourself. You will love it.

If you want to find the little hole in the wall bar, with good food, karaoke, cheap drinks, and where the locals hang out... this is it. If you're shy, dislike smoking (late in the evenings), or can't appreciate off-key, drunken, singing... then it's not the place for you. The food here is great, especially considering the "disheveled gas station" exterior. The prime rib special is excellent, and the "my girlfriend isn't hungry" add-on is genius. On the weekend, come for the food, have a few drinks, and stay for the karaoke. You won't be disappointed. read more

Thank goodness they finally got somebody who can cook again! The food quality suffered greatly after this place was sold a few years ago. I had given up on it, and hadn't eaten here for over a year. We stopped by recently for a couple of to-go lunches. Everything was delicious. Well-seasoned, well-cooked. They have obviously made changes, and hired someone who knows how to cook. Excellent blue plate lunches. We'll be back. read more

Don't know what's going on. Second time I came here the foods are lukewarm/cold. Part of the shrimp was cold and part of the hamburger steak is lukewarm. Seems like if the food is not fried, you may get different quality everytime read more

After visiting downtown Vicksburg, we wanted something local and non commercial, a quick google search pointed us to Klondyke. I love the feel of this place, speak of hole in the wall. Arrived shortly before they were closing the kitchen for the night, and truly was greeted with sincere appreciation and kindness. Had stopped here because of yelp reviews, and not wanting to just get fast food as we passed through town Our table mostly had burgers, adding things like grilled jalapeños or onions... And I had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. We were all very happy with our meals, and really liked the sweet potato fries! Perfectly soft on the inside, with just the right amount of Christmas. Overall, the only drawback was that people were smoking in the bar and that drifted over to the small eating area. Given that we knew we were eating at a bar... Really don't have the right to complain, do I? read more

On a road trip, we stopped in Vicksburg, MS, for the evening. Being late, we weren't expecting much, but found the Klondyke was one of the only local places still open. We had the time of our life, with Karaoke, great staff, friendly locals, and a great array of local adult beverages. Thank you to everyone for making our visit to Vicksburg, a new destination on our yearly trip to Ft. Worth. Can't wait to come back! read more

You've GOT to be freaking kidding me. Stopped here on our way from TX to FL based on Yelp reviews. Oh.My.Hell. We walked in to this place on a bright sunny day at 12:30 in the afternoon, and it was movie theater dark inside. Every square inch of the place was covered in old, dirty, knick knacks. (Yelp billed this garage sale junk as, "memorabilia." HA!) We managed to make it through the dark to a counter where we asked a guy wiping sweat off of his face where we ordered, and he said, "here." There were no menus, no menu board, nothing. He just pointed to several vats of food under a warming lamp and started naming off food as he continued to wipe sweat and swat flys away. We looked at the food in the vats and saw macaroni and cheese, some sort of meat, mashed potatoes, and various other bulk-made items. Nope! We turned around and got the heck out Dodge. This joint was a MASSIVE fail. read more

Definitely a one of a kind place. From the outside it looks like a little antiques store. The interior is very rustic, filled with unusual antiques and the food is off the hook. The fried green tomatoes are some of the best I've ever had. The fried dill pickles were crispy and really good. The steak is so tender and well seasoned that no sauce was needed. I had a baked potato that was slow roasted and delicious. My friend had the Bayou burger and it was huge! It's so big that it could almost be shared with another person. The staff is awesome. Everything was cooked to perfection and service was excellent. I'd definitely recommend eating here if you want a unique eating experience. read more

If you like to smoke, this is a good place for you since it is allowed inside. There is a small smoke free area, but We had to take it with us. I really should know better by now to not judge a book by its cover. This place looks like a complete dump inside and out. I was nervous pulling up here, scared I might get murdered. No kidding. Part convenience store, part short order diner, part bar. There was actually a guy sitting at the bar smoking. I really wanted to leave but hey, I'm always up for an adventure. And it's a good thing that I am. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries which she made right there in front of us. The fries were hand cut and perfectly salted and the cheeseburger was one of the best I've ever had. It was so good that I ate every single bite and I usually don't eat a whole cheeseburger. I mean it knocked my socks off. Even better? The bill. For 20 bucks we had two (awesome) cheeseburgers, two orders of (amazing) fries, a beer and a diet coke. Awesome, right? If you're in the area, don't miss this place. Don't let the way it looks scare you away. I'm so glad I didn't. I'm craving a Klondyke cheeseburger in paradise (errr...Vicksburg) as we speak. read more

The atmosphere was not very welcoming. Cold, dark and dirty. Not a very diverse environment and seemed very uncomfortable at first. Our waitress was delightful and made sure we were well taken care of once we were seated. The food on the other hand was delicious! The steak was tinder and well seasoned. The salad and onion rings were plentiful. The fish and potato skins were fresh and plentiful as well. Beer was cold and prices were low. I'm willing to deal with the environment again just to eat the food! read more

Yelp helped me find another hidden gem. Klondyke is awesome! If you have read my reviews, or seen my check-ins, you know that I enjoy visiting places that some may consider sketchy, shady, or even slightly murderous. I am also always on the lookout for a great burger, which is what led me to Klondyke. When I first saw Klondyke I was a little worried. It looked like an old shady gas station and I was reluctant to walk in. Once I walked in I was even more reluctant, but I put my faith in the great yelp reviews, and I am glad I did. Here is how the experience went: We walked in the front door and saw a small convenience type store to my left, a bar looking area to the left complete with two older guys drinking Bud Heavy and smoking Marlboros. We just kind of stood there not really knowing what the heck we should do when a younger girl walked up. Girl: Can I help you? Me: Do you have food? Girl: Yes. Me: Um, is there a menu? Girl: I can make pretty much any short order food. Me: I have no idea what that means. Girl: Like short order type food. Me: Do you have hamburgers? Girl: Yes. Me: Can we each get a cheeseburger with fries? Girl: OK I was all ready to send derogatory compliments to any yelper who had written a review of the place based on the experience until the food was delivered. When I say that the food was good, it was fucking delicious. The griddle cooked burger was perfect and the fries were hand cut, salted and seasoned and blew my damn mind. If you would have bet me $1000 bucks that this would be the best burger I had ever had in Mississippi, I would've taken your bet, but I would have lost. Listen to what I am saying: Klondyke is awesome. Ignore the outside, inside and whatever else turns you away. This place has food so good, I am about to leave work and head to Vicksburg. read more

If I could give this place more stars, I would. It's a small place and the food is fantastic. No fancy menus or fancy decor but the service and the turnip greens and fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy was so delicious. First time there and I loved it. I ordered a burger and the deep fried Little Debbie. Both were good. I went on a weekday for an early dinner- it was pretty empty and half the place was not lit. Not the most lively atmosphere; I think when it is busier and more set up the ambiance probably makes it a fun experience too. read more

I pulled up to what appeared to be an old gas station. I walked in and saw so many things on the wall that made me nervous; deer head, a real hornet's nest, etc. I was certain I wouldn't like the food but it had so many positive reviews I decided to try it anyway. Boy am I glad I did! It was the best burger I ever had & my brother in law said he had the best loaded potato he ever had. The fries are hand cut and delicious as well. I'll definitely be back if I am ever down this way again. read more

I'm not a negative review guy, but this one deserves it. Absolutely disgusting restroom, no soap in the restroom - only hand sanitizer. The burger was equivalent to a school cafeteria. My 11 year old son said it reminded him of a McDonald's burger. Honestly, I'd rather have McDonald's. Three burgers, soggy fries and $40 later we are back on the road. Never again. read more

This place looks ruff but I tell you what, the food is to die for, I had the catfish and seriously the best I have ever had, seriously. My GF ordered the ribs and they were so juicy and tasty, the beans are great and the best turnip greens were great. So glad we overcame the sketchy outside. We started to hesitate to give this place a try, but with the high ratings from YELP, we ventured inside. Still, the inside is dark and the clientele appears to be hardworking locals. We sat down and dove in with the fried green tomatoes, topped with crawfish and "come back" sauce. WOW, those are a must try! My husband is also singing the praises of his Klondyke Sandwich which was a Ribye steak, cooked perfectly, on a french bread bun and the home cut fries that came with it were crisp and a genuine homemade. Totally worth eating away from the tourist crowd. read more

Sing 66 my daddy said somebody going to come over here a bright me something to eat. Like what are you talking about what day is this beach

The food was fantastic!!! The service was outstanding!!! The one available restroom was disgusting!!! Had I used the restroom before eating, I would never had ordered a thing... I would have walked straight out the door. The months of built up crud is a health code violation , I am sure. PLEASE CLEAN THE RESTROOM, I want to come back!! I ate every bite of my food, so I hope the lack of cleaning in the restroom does not carry over to the kitchen... but then again, the waitress did warn against washing my hands in the unisex bathroom and directed me to an equally gross sink. FIX your sanitation issues... your food is awesome! read more

This review is for the bar area.... Don't be fooled by the exterior of the building. Something like...Don't judge a book by its cover. If you're looking for a good time with Booz and music this is the place to be. The place is small but it's enough room to boogie down. On Fridays they have open mic. Whenever I'm in Vicksburg I go see David and the crew at the Klondyke. Being from San Diego I am quite the beer snob. The Klondyke does not disappoint when it comes to beer selection.
