Pro: What a simple yet amazing little place! As I Caribbean native, it's an exercise in humility for me to admit that good seafood can actually happen far away from the West Indies. (Arrogant, right?!?) However, the folks over at Klaw have a good thing going! Probably because I tried their interpretation of a Jamaican Rundown: a stew of various shellfish in a spicy tomato broth. (Wow, the Caribbean dude likes the dish with "Jamaican" in it. #notsurprised) Hear me out, folks... this was a simply fabulous dish! Rich, spicy, enjoyable...these new Irish siblings of mine made my tropical heart happy! Oh, by the way, the Lobster Roll was the best I've had! Sorry, New England, but you know where the recipe came from! And Dublin does it better!!! Con: The dining area at Klaw is pretty small. Eight people can pack the house. Be warned. Bottom Line: This should be a repeat offense for anyone in Dublin! Enjoy!

At a Glance: A great tiny spot for delicious (albeit pricey) seafood! The Long Version: I wanted to visit this place earlier in the week, but they get filled up pretty fast. I tried again on my last night in Dublin, and the food gods blessed me, thankfully. I came here for a light snack, had 3 delicious oysters from different places, and the Crab on Toast. Everything was great, save for the Crab, which was a touch too watery for me, but refreshing all the same. I'm a sucker for presentation, so thanks Klaw! What I like most about the bar was its atmosphere. It's small and cozy and well decorated, with all its nautical glory. The service was decent, a little slow in taking orders, but the food arrived in a 'we took care putting this together'- time frame. Not too fast, not too slow. It's the perfect place to come alone and get your oyster fix!

I walked by this place twice before I realized this was the spot. It's teeny, but this was an awesome find! The place has three tables that seat up to 4 and a bar along the wall to eat at, but that's the extent of it. The kitchen is in the same room as the tables. Based on the pictures and reviews I ordered the lobster roll. The roll was served with warm tortilla chips, a piece of melted cheese and a pickle. When the lobster roll arrived I was a bit skeptical because it looked very saucy. Well I'm so happy I ordered this because it was delicious. The bread was warm and the perfect mix of soft, crisp and buttery. The lobster was delicious and so was the sauce it was in. I would definitely come back here. Highly recommended.

Saw this place as highly recommended. Close to where we were staying and saw it the first night. That night the place was crowded and saw how small it was. Decided to pass this night. The next night we got there right at opening and was able to snag a table inside. Quite cramped but that adds to the atmosphere. The workers were very friendly and helpful. The menu is up on a chalkboard on the wall. Small selection but enough choices for everyone. Went with the oyster happy hour where the price per oyster was 1 euro less than the regular price. It was explained to me which oyster was what. That took a little while but our server was patient. Appreciate that. I also got the clams, cockles and razors. Three types of clams that are cooked. Cooked just right and each had its own unique taste. Even though the place was small and we were all packed like sardines, everyone was happy as a clam....lol (couldn't help myself) Worth a visit if you like shellfish.

After attending the Guinness Experience, we were curious about trying oysters with Guinness so we did a quick Yelp search for seafood restaurants around Temple Bar and came across Klaw. We walked over from the Guinness Storehouse and were lucky to snag the last 4-top table in the teeny, tiny restaurant. We had actually walked by the storefront the previous day, and didn't even see Klaw. If I'm remembering correctly, there are 3 tables for four and then a counter with about 6 stools. We squished in, and started perusing the chalkboard menu on the wall. Everything looked delicious - and so reasonably priced - so we over ordered (but even so, didn't leave much on our plates!). Our group ordered: 1. A variety of oysters 2. Crab Toast 3. Grilled Gambas 4. Lobster Roll 5. Crab Roll 6. Kale Salad 7. Crab Mac'n Cheese Everything came out fresh and delicious. My favorites were the crab toast (light and fresh) and the grilled gambas (the butter/Old Bay sauce was decadent and delicious). The kale salad was well dressed and the mac'n cheese had lots of crab. The lobser roll had a bit of yuzu in it, which was interesting, but maybe not my favorite. For beverages, they had beer, wine, and Bloody Mary's. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was fun and relaxed! One of our best meals in Ireland - highly recommend!

I'm not sure which of my friends told me about Klaw but I am sure thankful. This was a super awesome terrific delicious dinner for my first night in Dublin. Be prepared that the place isn't much to look at. A couple of high top tables and a counter along one wall. They seat maybe 12 people at a time, tops. The kitchen is completely open to the guests. And the menu is written on a huge chalkboard. I took a great seat at the first table right next to the kitchen, so that gave me a great opportunity to watch my food being prepared and then as other customers came in, watch even more. It's obvious that the three dudes working the kitchen and the table care strongly about the product that they're turning out and the service that they provide. I ordered a lobster roll, which was prepared right to order. The bun was grilled and the lobster/mayo/herb mix was done just about before my eyes. Great to see this! There was also a cup of the seafood chowder, which was presented in a former soup can. This was a little odd, but I got over it as it was fresh and hot and very tasty. The three slices of garlic bread on the side were perfect. It's not cheap, but it's good and it's fresh and what more could you want?

This is a no frills, all gills kind of place. A large seafood menu is changed daily and many items go quickly, so we didn't get to try the mussels or chowder. After a 30 minute wait around 7-8pm we were seated at the bar style table. There are only about 5 tables here, one practically in the kitchen. There were three types of Bloody Marys to choose from and I had the Caesar style which was spicy with a large prawn. For mains we got the crab nachos which was enough for 3-4 to share or a giant meal for one. Loads of real crab meat! I enjoyed one of the two types of oysters, the other didn't taste as fresh. You can add toppings for extra charges. Other dishes were the spicy crab claws, in a dark cajun sauce that was delicious with bread. Very messy to eat as they were pre-cut. The whole bass was cooked well with flavour. Service was hit or miss. They were busy but slow with drinks. Overall good value for a casual but tasty diner.

Stumbled in here for a quick snack after walking (drinking) around Dublin. Luckily there was only two of us, so we were instantly seated outside on the little ledge with bar stools, otherwise every spot was taken. It gave us plenty of a room for drinks and oysters so it was perfect. The oysters were some of the best, and the staff was very helpful with describing the different types of oysters along with recommendations. Cheers.

My family and I ate here while visiting Dublin in June, 2018. It was relatively late and many restaurants were closed, but the staff at Klaw kindly accommodated us and served us a wonderful meal that lasted past their closing. We had the seafood platter, a lobster roll, and two orders of the nachos with crab meat added. All were yummy, though I think we (surprisingly) enjoyed the nachos the most. We would definitely eat here again if we were in the mood for seafood while in Dublin.

This place sure is tiny (only has 3 tiny tables and some bar seating, maybe can fit a max of like 15 people?), but it's a must try! Seafood at a really reasonable price My favorite thing we ordered was the lobster roll. The bread was buttery and perfectly toasted, and it was a good amount of lobster. The dublin prawn dish was also excellent, and it came in a yummy garlic pepper sauce with a side of bread to dip with. Wasn't a huge fan of the chowder - it's a lighter, less creamy chowder which isn't my taste. The chowder also came in a a tin can, which looks cute and rustic but I could kind of smell and taste the can... Food took a while to come out since there are literally only 2 people cooking and 2 servers. But shout out to both of the servers - they were the sweetest!

I think this place is just a bit overrated. There are only handful of seats available here. The food is expensive here. The portion is tiny. I will recommend the soup and mac & cheese. The seafood platter was too expensive for its portion.

Ended up stumbling upon this place while walking around Temple Bar. It's literally a tiny hole in the wall. Literally 4 tables and about 6 seats along the wall. The seafood here was awesome and totally affordable. To be honest it was so good that we ended up coming back the next night because we weren't in the mood for Irish stew and potatoes. The waitress recognized us so we were a bit embarrassed but it was still worth it. We ended up trying the lobster roll, crab toast, lobster tornado, Dublin prawns, Mac and cheese and oysters over the two nights. Best of those would be lobster tornado, krab toast and the oysters. We ended up getting the krab toast both nights because it was so yummy and full of crab. Amazing hole in the wall and definitely worth a stop (or two) even if you wait a bit.

This place is extremely small. After trying to get in on a packed Saturday night, we gave up and tried again on Sunday. Totally worth it. The best oysters we've ever had (and we love oysters). Also, the best mussels I've ever had. My husband had the lobster Mac and cheese which was delicious. Friendly service and one of the chefs even went above and beyond by grating fresh horseradish for us to have with our oysters. Fun music track too! We will go back every time we are in Dublin!! read more

Was very anxious to try this restaurant because seafood is my favorite food! It's located down an ally with no signage so it was a little tricky to find. When we walked in it was a tiny narrow restaurant with just a few seats. They do not take reservations or have a waitlist so you just have to wait outside and hope someone leaves quickly so you can steal their seat. We finally got a stool area along the wall after waiting for 30 minutes outside. It took another 25 minutes for someone to take our order. There are only 2 people working who are also the cooks so they do take a while to acknowledge new tables since they cook everything to order. We weren't in a hurry so it was fine. We started with their Prosecco which was really crisp and light. My friend who was not a huge seafood fan got the crab nachos and we're from California so it's hard to compare. They were just ok. The mac and cheese was also just ok. They torch the top and instead of giving it a nice smoky taste if tastes burned and like gasoline. I ordered the seafood chowder which was out of this world. So flavorful and the bread was toasted perfectly. I was dying to try a lobster roll but they were out. I ordered the crab roll instead. Very few pieces of crab and soooo much lettuce which made it difficult to eat. I ended up not finishing it. We ordered the crab claws at the end which were good but super cold which made the meat hard to get out. We asked for a side of melted butter but that never came. They serve the crab with a like mayo aioli instead. Overall i had higher expectations and left a little disappointed. It is good for a seafood fix though if you're not in a hurry. read more

This place is the bullet!! (As the employees like to call it). The lobster rolls are amazing, very fresh with great sauce on a real buttered roll. The Mac and cheese side is also really yummy. We tried the sampler platter of oysters, haven't had such good oysters anywhere else. SO GOOD! And be sure to save room for the white chocolate cheesecake, there's nothing like it! Very small place but definitely worth the cramped seating and wait! Will be back! read more

Perhaps my expectations was too high. After a long day of sightseeing and walking, I just wanted to grab quick bite and head back to my airbnb suite. I ordered a lobster roll and 3 oysters, naked and a half pint of Guinness. Here is where my Americanism kicked in--I quickly devoured the roll and the oyster. And they were good enough, but perhaps I should've dressed my oysters and not taken them naked. While my mind is settling on my slight disappointment from the oysters, I wondered..where is my Guinness? Oh I forget it's not poured like it is back in the States and it takes time to settle before it's served. At this point I just wanted to head back out into the streets and find more filling food...I didn't want to wait until the Guinness had settled, so I got the check and cancelled the half pint. :( Stars off wasn't due to my lack of patience, but more so the oysters weren't as great as I had hoped and seating is a bit cramped. read more

Stopped for a quick lunch. I would try again as the menu offered a number of my favorites. Very small whole crab which would have been nice served with some bread. The Klaw chowder lacked flavor and was okay. The bread served with this was good. The chef presented the dishes which was nice. The surroundings are tiny but intimate with one on one personal attentive service. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their food choices maybe we didn't chose well for the day. read more

Simply awesome. Oysters were fresh and smooth and the best I've had. Crab nachos were awesome. Muscles were amazing. Crab and cheese sandwich was great. Lobster rolls were good but could have had larger pieces of meat. Place was small but by far my favorite restaurant on my trip. A must stop if you LOVE seafood. So glad we stopped!!!! read more

5 stars are a lot for a place with 3 inside rough hewn tables, a menu scratched on a chalk board wall, and no defineable boundary betwwen the kitchen and the dining space. Klaw is tiny, homely and like your grandma's kitchen, magnetic and so satisfying. The food we had, local oysters on half shells, chowder and a crab club sandwich were simply to die for... read more

Superb food and atmosphere. Small place, just a few tables and a long bar and a fairly compact menu. I got the lobster mac and cheese which was good if not all that remarkable and then the North African seafood kebab which was out of this world. Grilled tuna, scallops and head-on prawn in the most delicious spice rub, served with a really excellent barley salad of some kind. Loved the service too, very friendly and some good (if somewhat loud) music giving it a great feel to the place. Wish I'd discovered it earlier. read more

The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that they were out of 50% of the menu items. Everything we tried was really good. Oysters, and the Lobster roll really stood out. Great little place. Will try again next time I am in town. read more

Fantastic seafood chowder! Pretty good Guinness too! It was a little more expensive than expected but delicious! The staff was very friendly and you can eat in or take out. This is well worth the visit if you're looking for seafood. read more

I really wanted this to be good. I gave it a go with a lot of items on their menu and frustratingly, everything they serve turned out weak and bland (except perhaps their oysters, some were pretty good). If it takes all this much to achieve a decent price tag with seafood, I could learn to be content with my pork and lamb. read more

Don't go! There isn't enough room for the both of us! All kidding aside, we weren't quite sure what to expect when entering their kitchen (you literally are a part of the kitchen), that was until the calamari arrived. Simply delightful! The seafood at Klaw is simple, honest and unassuming. We didn't think it possible to pack that much flavor into such a small space of a restaurant. Klaw is a world class experience that should not be missed on a visit to Dublin (or Europe). read more

Love this little restaurant. Their crab roll was amazing and so was the service! It is really small and intimate. You can even see your food being prepared. One of the servers that I didn't catch his name (From Portland) was super helpful and friendly. I loved him he even gave me a list of fun bars to go to on my trip. I would high recommend checking this place out :) read more

I'm sorry but I don't like leaving bad reviews. THE EFFORT AND ATTENTION was great from both cooks. However the disappointing part was the food. It wasn't horrible but there was just no taste. The mac and cheese seemed out of a box and torching the cheese although a cool idea just made the food taste like the butane gas and charred. The crab roll was just not at all good and well the fish taco not a fish taco at all. the place was extremely and uncomfortably small. Man I was really hopping this place would of turned out different. read more

Intimate little seafood shop. The cutest hipster decor with the smiths and David bowie on soundtrack. Chowder was ok but accompanied by the best crusty toast. The oysters were absolutely amazing. Mac and cheese at first seemed skimpy in size, but so incredibly rich that it was the perfect amount. This was great place and glad we tried it. Wexford oysters were the fav with their creamy flavor. The CUTEST most AMAZING authentic seafood I have ever had in my entire life. Who knew I would find it in Dublin! Incredible people that work there and an amazing atmosphere. Tiny place but so homey and truly great. I think my favorite restaurant of all time.... would fly back just for this place. I'm obsessed with oysters and crab and have had them all over the world and definitely the best here. Come one come all! read more

For a man who feels he knows seafood, this was the most awesome experience we had in Europe. It's a bit tight but don't miss the hot pot of claws. Great oysters and Uni as well. Service was friendly and quick. Can't wait to come back to Dublin for Guinness and Klaws!! read more

A most excellent find in Temple Bar area. Found it by Yelp reviews so paying it forward. Fresh fresh seafood. The special was Cioppino and it was outstanding. Also had a half dozen oysters and a lobster roll for good measure. Exceedingly friendly staff/owner. read more

Holy crap. The crab toastie. Nuff said!! Came here after a long day of touring Dublin in the cold. The chowder warmed us right up but the crab toastie was the star! This is a very small restaurant but we had no problems getting a seat. Our server was great. All in all - 5stars! read more

First bit of advice - if you walk into Klaw do not be intimidated by how small or crowded it is. Definitely do not leave! Check out the menu on the wall and scout for space. Sit along the wall or get a table. Either works fine. We had the torched oysters (literally heated up with a torch) and they were awesome. We followed it up with crab toast and then grilled gambas (prawns). Both were incredible. Of course, Guinness was on tap. We'd be back tomorrow if we could. read more

Yum! We had an excellent Bloody Mary and mussels. Both were delicious. The Bloody Mary was made with pickle juice (from pickles they make there) and a little red wine said our friendly waitress. Rimmed with old bay and a big 'ol prawn as a garnish. The mussels were flat out yum. Nice wine/garlic/onion/pepper (maybe Fresno?) for a light kick. Very good and pretty reasonable at 35 euros read more

The Klaw serves some of the best seafood I have ever had, period. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is terrific. My only problem with the Klaw is its small size, which can feel crowded and stuffy at times. All in all, if you don't mind bumping elbows with a few strangers while devouring your lobster roll, the Klaw is definitely the place for you. read more

All the portions were very generous, nobody finished their meal, too bad we couldn't have taken it back to our hotel. Server was great & funny. Love this place.

So in 2026, I made a reservation for myself FAR in advance & made absolute certain that it was the CORRECT day. I did hold my breath just a little bit when I arrived, but I was good to go. The shop is tight - not a lot of room to move around. Unfortunately I was seated right by the door, so every time someone came in or out, I was blasted by cold air. I forgive. I ordered a skin contact Austrian wine & haddock fish & chips (gluten free, of course) & it all came out in a reasonable time. Everything was just spectacular. The fish was crispy, flaky, & perfectly done. The fries were thick & the malt vinegar was strong. The wine was weird & a perfect pairing. I really wish this spot wasn't across the ocean from me. I'll certainly be back every time I'm in the city.

This was the worst service and food I got in Dublin. We got the crab nachos and the linguini special. First off, the crab nachos shouldn't be called crab nachos because they contained little to no crab, or any topping at all. It was just a pile of chips with some cheese. Also, the cream they put on them smelled and tasted spoiled. It was truly disappointing especially given that is what the waiter recommended. Second, the special they had that night was a linguini lobster dish that made my husband and I feeling sick after eating it. It was a pile of pasta with 5 tiny bites of lobster drowned in unseasoned butter. We could only eat 4 or 5 bites before being unable to finish. Lastly, the service was also horrible, with us waiting 40 minutes to receive our food and the waiters continuously forgetting our requests during that time. All of this for 44€. We used yelp to find this gem, we always did say" best places to eat are the hole in wall joints." Klaw defiantly is a "hole in wall" max seating 25, more than likely you'll start on the wall, even outside, but you can end up at one of the 4 tables. WAIT don't leave because of that. On our first visit we started on the "wall". Hubby had smoke salmon and grill prawns, and I had lobster roll. Very good so much enjoyed the prawns we had round 2. So visit 2, next evening half off oysters during happy hour hubby had dozen naked and 6 "torched ", I had the grilled prawns and mac and cheese with lobster, ok we shared, and we finished off with a crab. Second visit here. Once again we are blown away by the sea food! The cocktails are amazing.. The Bloody Mary Ceasar comes with an oyster on the top! Yum. Very small so go there on non lunch/dinner times and you will get a seat. read more
