I also had them do my gender reveal cake recently and it was cute and delicious. My SIL who isn't even a fan of chocolate was impressed and asked where it came from. I sent them the gender info via email and they were so kind coordinating what flavor cake we wanted with what would work to show off the color even doing a test run ahead of time with frosting and calling me back to let me know without ruining anything. There were a handful of options to go with, but out of the three I tasted: apple, orange, and vanilla, they all had a grainy texture to it. Now usually, Gelato is not as creamy as ice cream, and it is served at a higher temperature than its cousin, in order to maintain that famous elasticity. But this Gelato was a bit flaky/grainy. I imagine it had to do with the tub maybe having melted with the constant opening and closing of the glass, or maybe or it was turned to fast, but it had a sort of ice crystal flake taste/texture to it. The slow-churning technique that makes the majority of difference from Gelato to ice cream just maybe didn't reach the level I was used to (granted I had lived a year in Italy). But unfortunately, the Gelato felt more like ice cream, while the rich flavoring and vibrant coloration was lacking. This is my first time there, and perhaps I just happened to turn up on a slow or bad day. Now, I did not have a chance to get any of the chocolates, but from their looks, I could see myself picking a few up. The gentleman who served us was extremely kind and helpful, and I did feel welcomed. But this review should be acknowledged purely as a reflection on my opinion of the Gelato. It was not horrible, but it left much to be desired. That said, I would not be opposed to swinging by another time I feel the sweet escape. I'll probably venture into the key lime truffle.

Keep an eye on All Crumbs Bakery's Facebook page and website. They take online orders up until midnight Thursday for Saturday pickup, and their bread is truly incredible. It's actually a bit puzzling how good it all is. Every single thing I've tried, from their chocolate filled croissants, to their burger buns... everything they produce is perfect. It's like some sort of culinary witchcraft. In some cases, it ends up being the highlight of whatever meal the bread is paired with. The textures and flavors they produce are outstanding and surprisingly memorable. Wonderfully outstanding bread is a THING in Toledo. Grab a loaf (or roll) as soon as you can! My husband wanted to surprise me with a cake, something that he had never done before. ( I have had…read morea lot of cakeless birthdays, not by choice!) The day he was supposed to pick it up, I was browsing online, and they had an ad on a site that I follow. Lo and behold, there was a beautiful birthday cake with my name on it, spelled just like I spell my name! So I jokingly asked my husband if that cake was for me......his face when he saw the picture said it all! He actually thought I had been snooping around (which I wasn't, but have in the past ) So he was supposed to go pick it up in an hour, which he did. When he got home and opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised. Even though I had already seen a picture of it, it was way more beautiful in person! It was covered in gold glitter, which I love! I found Mary Poppins through the knot and wedding wire and decided to give them a try. My friend and I showed up at our appointment, and she had forgotten about us. We were flexible and were able to come back later that night, after we got some errands done... and honestly, the wait was worth it. The cake was probably the best I've had in a long time. She was very thorough and went through the history of weddings, and showed me how to pose for wedding cake cutting pictures. I decided to book her despite the mishap with the tasting appointment (her daughter got married the week before). She offered me a discount for her mishap, which really made it worth it. (She's inexpensive to begin with). The design of the cake was a very vintage, lace cake design, and it couldn't have been more perfect the day of. Everyone wouldn't stop raving about the cake and that we had SO MANY flavors. Guests were also happy they got to pick which one they wanted, instead of being force fed whatever was given to them. We had a ton of leftover cake, and we were able to take it home with us. She makes extra cake to feed the kitchen and waitstaff, and doesn't charge you for it. (Makes you look like a rockstar). They stayed to cut the cake for us, and were super professional. They even brought their own boxes. They would have brought napkins, plates, forks, knives, etc. if the venue wouldn't have provided those for us. Jackie was even nice enough to lend us a cake cutting set (I forgot to buy one... OOOOPS). I would highly recommend Mary Poppins Cake Factory for a wedding cake. I can't wait for my 1 year anniversary cake. I will be using them again in the future.
