KK Discount Store storefront March 2021
Katy W.

This store is the embodiment of the Chinatown of my childhood. They carry all the kitchen and home essentials. But more importantly, the store and its merchandise evokes all the memories of home cooked meals and big banquet dinners with family and friends where adults could chat and drink all night while us kids played cards and games while eating all the multiple courses. Walking into KK Discount Store feels like home, and I wish I lived closer so that I could browse everything for days. They carry every classic pattern of Chinese dish/serve ware, as well as more modern and minimalist styles. You want a teaspoon? They have a million to choose from and all under $2. You couldn't even buy a plain coffee in NYC for some of their low prices! The owners are very friendly and offer help to find whatever you might need. I highly recommend checking out KK Discount for any home goods, kitchen ware, serving platters, tea sets, dishes and more! Not only are you supporting Chinatown small businesses, but their store prices are really unbeatable!

This small discount shop is 90% kitchen and restaurant supplies including plastic and ceramic bowls, dishes, cups, tea kettles, and chopsticks. They also have cooking utensils, bamboo steamers, and other restaurant-grade items such as salt and pepper shakers and hot/soy sauce containers. Also, some small appliances. It can be quite cramp inside, some aisles can only be entered from one end and I definitely had to watch my head and limbs while navigating around. The store was a good place for me to purchase two large bowls ideal for wonton soup at a reasonable price. I will likely return when I need to add to my set.

2.5 stars Walked by…read morein Soho and noticed the large sign stating everything is $7! That drew in my friend and I. We liked a few items, but it seems like the shop is tailored for certain size women (on the slimmer side). Lots of crop tops and summer wear items and dresses. There was a downstairs, but a sign states can't bring any items down from the main floor- so how can we check it out while holding other items? The register isn't going to hold the items. There was also a sign that states can't try on anything for sizing as the majority of the clothes had tags removed. Just had the name brand, and some had wash instruction tags, but the majority had nothing. It was hard to tell sizing with the majority of the clothes as they were just small and tight (for super model sizes). P.S. all signs are handwritten on poster papers. Overall cute items but looks like a thrift shop with limited size options and is not allowed to try on to see if it fits. No refund if items don't fit. Be careful of purchases!

Stumbled upon this shop in Soho, New York, while I was visiting the city! It's a shop where most…read moreitems are $8 or $12. There are two floors, and it looks like most of the items are surplus from stores. For example, there was a 25$ jumpsuit that was discounted to 8$ at the shop. You can find items suitable for dressy occasions or casual wear. There are multiple duplicates of the same items with different sizes, but it's not guaranteed! It also doesn't seem to be that organized in terms of style. The entrance floor tends to have more of the classier/higher quality items, in my opinion. The bottom floor has more casual/lounge wear. This store is close to Muji, a Japanese clothing + more, and TJ Max.

What used to be found at the sadly lamented Bed Bath and Beyond store's vast kitchen gadgets are found here at Lot Stop. This discount store has three floors. Filled to the brim with cleaning products, household ware, food items, hair accessories, foods and frozen entrees and ice cream. Alam is the store manager and Abdul Rahman is the assistant manager. Both are from Pakistan and it's a pleasure to speak to them in Hindi. Alam has even gone to another floor to get something for me. Except for Westside Market it's rare that this is done. The store is clean and has been open for a few years. Customers are always coming in to see what to buy. However, one must know that post the pandemic and recent world events have inflated prices. So even if something now costs $4.99 just think what it would be at a finer store?

I must confess that I am addicted to Lot Less. They have amazing variety of clothes that are high…read moreend at discount prices with the tags on it. Most of them from Macys and Bloomingdales. I saw a pair of Gucci high heels for $16.99 which they were my size but they were 5.5. But I got nice Miz Mooz sandals made in Portugal for $16.99 and those cost over $179. The lines are long but they move fast. The nice and pretty Spanish girl at the return line is super nice. Maria and Lula are also very helpful and accommodating! Great job Lot Less bringing JCrew merchandise!

But now that I've gone to this Fulton street one and saw all their products, I'm going to be coming to this location more often. The lines are ridiculously long compared to other locations but it's worth it for the savings you're going to get. They have a lot of good deals here especially the St. Ives apricot scrub that costs around $3 compared to your local pharmacy store where it's around $10! Disposable razors and Dove body wash are all affordable here. Prices are very low here. Also they got black legging tights that are very affordable. Lots of socks and bras that you can get for cheap prices. They also pack of 5 tapes and 48 pack of Kirkland batteries for $12.99, which is definitely way cheaper than Costco! Lots of seasonal products like Christmas ornaments and decor for cheap prices. Just the style to my opinion is very glittery and too flashy for my taste. I try to come here time to time to score good deals because their products are sometimes ever changing. Sometimes they gave the same products and other times they got new products on their shelves. You have to check it time to tune to make sure you score something good! I love their shopping tote bag too. They have the standard size and large size. Very sturdy bags and reusable. One thing I wish they did was to do something about the long line. It's very long at times and takes forever.

I've come here for those giant birthday balloons twice now. While truly a discount store (each…read moreballoon is only $9 + tax, compared to $15 at Village Party Store) with many, many items, like a 21st birthday sash, there are several things that prevent me from giving this place 5 stars. Today, I needed a 2 and a 1 balloon. The 1 balloon had MANY colors, from the typical gold and silver to also BLUE and MAJENTA. I would like this to be extended to the other numbers too! Strangely, however, there were no 2 balloons at all. I assume 2 might be one of the most popular (seems like people in their 20s get birthday balloons), but all the more reason to stock up. Luckily, I had the genius idea to use an upside down 5. Problem is, the girl behind the counter didn't quite understand at first. She and the other woman behind the desk kept talking back and forth in their language, completing ignoring me. In addition to this language barrier, they are not very congenial at all. When I had called asking if they could blow the balloons up so that I could pick them up when I arrived in 15 minutes, they bluntly refused. There's also always a panhandler right outside the store, which is off putting. Also, when I tried to look for the birthday sash myself, the store's disorganization impeded my efforts. The aisle numbers don't have descriptions of the items they have, so I assumed the sash would be with all the birthday gift bags and cards, but alas it was not. (It's in Aisle 1.)

It was only $7, but there was no apology and no effort to make the situation right. Really disappointing customer service. They lost a customer over $7. What bothered me most wasn't even the money, but the complete lack of customer service. I understand stores have policies, but there should be some common sense when a product is clearly defective.
