First impressions: the room was dimly lit with lots of colored lights (like the ones used on houses during Christmas) and nicely decorated with a lounge area in the corner with a day bed and some chairs and a rug. Great place to take pictures and miscellaneous photo ops. The studio was very chilly at first, but soon after the introductions, we quickly understood why the temps were set so low... it go so hot hot HOT and by hot I mean "BOW CHICKA BOWOW!" We had so much silly, sexy fun times! We used muscles we didn't even know we had and might have even bruised a few knees and booties attempting some of the super fun twirls and whirls. Brides beware. The instructor is rude, bossy, and has an attitude. We were a group of 12 girls for a bachelorette trip and decided to take a pole dancing class here because of the good reviews. However, no one discloses that the instructor will WHIP THE BRIDE and ASSAULT you without any notice or consent. It started out with the instructor teaching all of us a dance routine and us just following her moves. We had to split up into 2 different groups because not enough poles. She makes the bride dance the whole time. I tried to give up my spot so one of the other girls could take a turn, and so that I could rest and hang with the girls, but she would not allow me to and snapped at me. She also does not provide knee pads so a lot of us got really bad bruises on our knees from the class. After teaching each group the ONE routine, she makes the bride teach all the girls after that where the bride dances and the girls copy along. so don't expect to learn much pole dancing from the instructor. The part where it got worse - she gives fake money to all the ladies and makes the bride do a dance for each lady to "make it rain". In our group, there were some girls who kept the money and didn't throw it all at the bride (me). So the instructor put a chair in the middle of the room, had all 11 girls circle around me, and made me BEND over on the chair. Then she proceeds to WHIP me in my behind and says "TELL KITTY KAT YOU'RE SORRY" So as uncomfortable as I was, I said it to appease her and to move on. However, it was not good enough or "sexy" enough for her as she repeatedly whipped me and forced me to keep saying sorry Kitty Kat. After the fifth or sixth time I was so uncomfortable and embarrassed in front of all my girls, even family members, that I got up and refused to play along any further. I told her this is not fun anymore. The instructor then became upset and WHIPPED ME AGAIN HARD in front of everyone. This is assault. I have 11 other girls that can vouch for me. All the girls became so uncomfortable and felt so awkward. I am so appalled that she has such good reviews when our experience was such a nightmare. She ruined our experience and we will advise any one against supporting such an unprofessional being. read more

Had an absolute blast!! My girls and I booked Cynthia for a bachelorette weekend. We booked the "Say Yes to the Bride" package, which was 90 minutes and included cupcakes, strawberries and 2 bottles. Cynthia was very welcoming and made us all feel comfortable. That peach Andre champagne she had was delicious!! It was a large group of us so we were split in half and taught a routine, then had to execute after one round of teaching. So do not expect to learn any real pole skills. After the routines, we had fun with the bride and played funny games. I was not a fan of Cynthia kept telling us "stay hydrated", yet sold bottles of water for $2. So, there was this special on Groupon for five classes for $29. I have never taken a pole dancing class before but I've taken several aerobic classes in the past.. I thought to myself 'its a workout.. and its a bargain.. why not?' The studio is a little hard to find. I had to call Cynthia (The instructor.. and the woman on all the pictures on the website) twice because I didnt see the place. Finally... out of luck I found it. Its a little place.. you'd miss it if you weren't really looking. So, I finally get here.. late for my class. And Cynthia asked me to just join in on a class she was teaching. She went over the 'routine' with me and then started the class again. She even let me stay for as much of the next class as I wanted since I got there late. I have to say that the experience was fun, after you get over the initial embarrassment. You are, after all, pretty much dry humping a stripper pole in there for all to see!! lol Cynthia is very nice.. she does all sorts of tricks on the pole to show you the variety of things you can do on there. I must admit I'm not the best at it.. and its not what you'd call an 'aerobic' workout even though you do inevitably break a sweat. The whole point of it, as I interpreted it, was just to feel pretty and to move your body in fluid motions.. slowly. I am actually due for number 2 of my five classes this afternoon.. so hopefully I am better at it then I was the first time. For those of you a little curious about it.. She provided me with all the specific info needed before my first class. Before kitty Kat, I've never attended a pole dancing class. After my one month groupon expired, I decided to purchase a one year membership-I was hooked! It's not only a great workout but also fun. I find comfort that it's women only, the curtains remain closed during classes and everyone makes you feel comfortable. Came here for my bachelorette about a week ago. Cynthia was nice and we had a good time. We were able to pick our own songs and there is an add-on where you can take two liquor shots at the beginning of the session which was fun! One thing to note is that there are only 5 available poles + 1 for the instructor, but you can purchase packages for up to 15 people. I felt kinda bad having to break into two different groups and take turns. Cynthia went through a pole routine with like 16 moves, and then she let each person teach everyone a dance routine in a "follow the leader" style. This was fun but if you are hoping to learn from the instructor the whole time, this isn't really that sort of class/package. Bought a class pass and booked this class without checking yelp first- should have looked at these SUS yelp reviews first. Anytime you see one with a person that has only 1 friend or 1 review, think twice. This owner cancelled on me within 1 hours notice of the class and refused to place it in the system which means I had no choice but to go to her class the next week or pay loose one class that month (when they don't close the class in the class pass system it acts as though you attended). When I did attend the class, the address for the location was wrong on google and the owner was incredibly rude to me when I got there, telling me she already texted me the location and details on how to get to the place. Interestingly enough I got that text right after she yelled at me in front of the class. Throughout the class which was a stretching class, she practically yelled at everyone in a shrill condescending voice. It was a little more intense than a yoga class, but minus all of the explanation and a bunch of almost insulting commands. Not relaxing, and did not make me feel confident or sexy at all. Definitely will not come back here and I do not recommend it. Go to Milan Dance Studio in Wynwood instead where the instructors are not only helpful but they seem to enjoy their job. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. While myself and the rest of the bridal party had a great time, there are some customer service issues that greatly detracted from the overall experience. I arrived w/ a group of 10 other girls to celebrate a bachelorette party. As we stepped through the doors, there was sexy mood lighting and a display set up with cupcakes, candy, champagne, and cutesy decor to greet us. It was a nice touch that put everyone in a festive party mood. Our bubble was quickly burst, however. As soon as everyone had piled into the studio, the owner/instructor, Cynthia, advised us that we were basically not to touch anything we hadn't paid for. Our package came with cupcakes, strawberries, and champagne. Anything else-- candy, "bride" sunglasses and other decorations that were on the table w/ our food--were props that we were not to touch! This warning, as soon as we walked in, put me on edge. It let me know we were dealing with someone who is verrrrry particular about their things. Before getting started, we were poured some delicious-tasting champagne. Noting that we were almost done with two bottles of it, Cynthia held up the remainder of the champagne and advised us that our package only came with 2 bottles and that if we needed another bottle of champagne, it would cost us $20 a bottle. That annoyed me a little. The last thing we wanted to do was discuss pricing, or anything money-related, in front of the bride. I wish Cynthia has found a more discreet way to advise the organIzer of the cost. Next, Cynthia instructed us to each give a toast to the bride. Although Speeches are a thoughtful gesture, it got awkward when some of the girls who are shy declined to give speeches and Cynthia made them feel guilty about it. Time for the actual dancing part. So, I think the first thing you should know is that this isn't so much of a pole dancing instructional class, as it is a bachelorette party with poles in the room. You're not going to leave there knowing how to master the pole, BUT You will have fun (which was more important for our purposes)! There are 6 poles, so only enough room for 4 people, the instructor and the bride for each go 'round. At first I was annoyed that we wouldn't get a chance to dance together. But this ended up being the perfect set up. It was so much fun to laugh and tease the other people that went before us. It also gave the instructor an opportunity to teach different moves and routines. Cynthia really shined here. She's really good at getting people to shake off their inhibitions and creating a party vibe. In that regard, the class was better than we expected. The routines were fun and sexy, and the musical selection was totally on point! Unfortunately, all that dancing made me thirsty. In the middle of my second "routine" I looked around for a water fountain or a cup of water that I could quickly grab a sip from. Nothing. I slowed down my grinding on the pole in case I somehow missed it. Nope, I didn't. There, in a corner of the room, taped to the front of a miniature refrigerator, was a sign stating that for our convenience, water could be purchased for the sum of $2 dollars. I hate being nickel-and-dimed . It just seems cruel (not to mention cheap) to put people in a situation where they're dehydrated from drinking alcohol, get them to work up a sweat, and then ransom them much- needed water. It was a big turn off. It was also inconvenient. Although the sign on the refrigerator said that water was available for purchase for our convenience, there really wasn't any way for me to signal to indicate that I wanted to buy a water without disrupting the class and interrupting the vibe. Finally , after dancing, Cynthia had us all gather around to play some games. One of them was "Who's the biggest slut?" Now, our group was a mixed bag. Some people were family, some were friends. Of those friends, there was at least one deeply conservative Christian person. Although she was able to navigate the pole dancing in a reserved fashion, I saw her react with unmasked horror when Cynthia mentioned the game. Knowing her guests, the bride-to-be stated that she'd rather do another round of dancing. Cynthia insisted that she should play the game instead. She was either oblivious, or ignored the social cues indicating that we were not interested in playing this game. We ended up playing an awkward, half-ass round of the slut game. There were a few laughs, but not because the game was so much fun. We all laughed awkwardly and with disgust at some of the questions. All in all, we had an excellent time. But I honestly can't say whether it was because of, or in spite of our instructor. She does a great job teaching, but I do think that she's a bit abrasive and doesn't listen to the wants of her clientele. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Bought a Groupon for 5 classes for me and my roommate. Went for a first class and since we step foot in that place the attitude of the owner just left me thinking that she needed some customer service training. I am glad some people found joy in her classes, but in my time there we were told off first for the shoes (we didn't know we had to use a specific type of shoes), then she started doing some remarks as some of us weren't getting the moves right. I'm sorry lady, I went there to have fun not for a stripper boot camp. I am paying you for a service the least you could do is guide me if I'm not doing things right and hitting my knee every time I try. Some other girl, more experienced, actually took the time to correct me because the owner didn't give a damn. Then my roommate was doing a move following her instructions and twisted her knee. Pole dancing is my new favorite workout class, so I was really excited to check out this studio while I visit Miami. I have taken pole in other places in Miami so I do have something to compare to. The studio is a bit hidden, so leave yourself some time to find it and find parking the first time you go. It is located behind the building where the "The Cheese Course" is in the Midtown shopping center. The inside is small but nicely clad with fun burlesque decor. We began with warm-ups and then the instructor showed us the choreography that she went through from start to finish instead of breaking down piece by piece as we learned it together. I can see why the reviews have commented the way they have because Cynthia is... well let's just say a bit rough around the edges. Her intentions may be good, but some of the things she says come off a little blunt and rude. I found that she went through everything very quickly and does not give good explanation. Instead of giving everyone time to try the spins and going around one by one to give correction, she will just call you out in front of everyone. I found it to be a little discomforting and made me feel pressured to do everything just the way she wants it or I would get called out. It's strange because pole is about letting women have fun and feel sexy while being themselves. The lack of detailed instruction and the pressure really took the fun out of it for me. I understand she wants to show you the right way, but let's face it- most women are coming in to have fun and feel sexy and not learn how to be strippers. I'm so glad that I found this yelp page for them! I purchased a Living Social for 5 classes a few years ago. That was the WORST dance or fitness experience EVER!!!!!!!!!! I didn't even use all five. I used like 3 or 4 because it was such a disappointment. Cynthia, the owner, was always trying to sell crap that I didn't need. I agree with Jesse W. She is pushy and rude. She didn't care if you were actually learning anything. One day, I went to a beginner POLE DANCING CLASS and never even TOUCHED a pole!!!! We stretched for most of the class and did some stupid chair stuff. I'm sure she's a great dancer herself and maybe in a one on one situation, it would be better, but I really doubt it. Also, her prices are outrageous. There is a pole dancing studio next to the hair salon I go to and near my job. When I walk past there, it seems so fun and there's good music playing. Super fun! We had a group of 7 girls for my sister's bachelorette weekend; there are 5 poles total, but she had us rotate in. You learn some basic choreography and play fun games at the end!
