I don't understand the low reviews, as my daughters attended Dance Gallery for 5 years. Never was a class late or cancelled. It was very well organized. My daughters loved attending and made lots of friends. There IS a lot of emphasis on the annual show, but that's what the majority of parents wanted. Moms camped out (including me) to get the best seats as soon as tickets went on sale. The complainers have no idea what it takes, or the costs to put on a huge production. The shows were very professional, though long due to the number of participants. I did think the costumes were pricey BUT you have to realize they needed to find the costume companies with a big size selection as you would see they needed 20 or sometimes more of the same costumes to fit kids of all (and I mean ALL) sizes. Ms Rose also put a lot of thought into finding costumes that fit each group and embarrassed none of the dancers. And with so many kids participating, no one really wants to see your kids for more than 3 minutes or the show would go on forever. If disappointed by your kid's short performance, you could just sign them up for 2 classes next time or buy the video and watch them perform over and over. The instructors are great and I was always amazed at how professional the choreography looked. My only complaint was in the last year I had to pull my daughters out after their dance act to catch a flight. Ms. Rose runs a very tight ship and originally said no, until I showed her our plane tickets. Then of course she was reasonable. The wait backstage for the kids on performance day was long, but they got treats and were well supervised and were with their friends, and a wait backstage is truly just part of a dancer's life. It taught discipline and was only once a year. My kids were lucky to have such an experience and have even seen some of their teachers on So You Think You Can Dance. And if your kids stick with it for 5 years, they get a very nice trophy. read more

If I could give this studio SIX stars, I would! My daughter has been dancing there since she was three, (she's ten now). They offer a wide variety of dance styles including absolutely SPECTACULAR tap and acro dancing.But, in actuality, all of their classes and instructors are A+....The studio director, Rosemary baker and her daughter Kristy run a fantastic business. Their prices, well, let me tell you a secret...It is probably the best priced studio in Miami. Rosemary is sensitive to the rising cost of life and will not hammer you with high monthly fees and outrageously priced recital costumes. If my daughter could live at the studio she would...She actually opts out of going to parties to go dance and be with her friends at Dance Gallery !!! read more

The staff fosters a friendly and supportive environment and truly cares about the dancers. They have many family-fun events for the dancers throughout the year. This year, I attended the Friends of Carver Fundraising Gala & Silent Auction. Dance Gallery was one of the wonderful donor of Silent Auction items. They donated a one-week summer camp certificate which I got at the event. My daughter just finished the camp this past week and she absolutely LOVED it. She has tried other dance classes in the past, but always found something that she did not like. This has been one memorable experience for her and we will repeat it!! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Thanks for creating such a warm, nurturing environment! Must say I'm extremely disappointed at this dance school. My daughter started on June 2012 with 3 years old. The only reason I chose this school primarily is because the same ballet teacher she had previously at her day care was there (Ms. Sonia). While Ms. Sonia is an awesome teacher, with excellent skills and patience, I unfortunately have many regrets with the school itself. I found them more focused in getting in one's pockets than in committing and be fair with the level presented. The older students get all the attention and the little ones get shafted. Their directors put so much effort in professionally collecting all the possible fees, but the end of the year show organization and overall presentation was disastrous and embarrassing: - They charged a $70 fee for costumes... my daughter costume was a lame tutu. - They charged a $40 "participation" fee - really? my daughter's two acts lasted no more than 3 minutes each. - They forced us to be up to day (which I was) with the fees to be able to purchase tickets - With all these money they collected, they hired the lamest clown ever (I'm still wondering why there was a clown in the show, but I guess the theme was circus... lame) People actually booing every time the guy came out to the stage... - the decorations... LAME - a couple of falling colored paper strings and a sign that simulates a circus - zero creativity for a so called creative art. - Dont' get me started in the organization... They didn't even plan ahead to have hosts helping people find their seats, or at least guide them to the entrance. - The theater was falling apart - and the air conditioning was not working. - The entire recital lasted about four hours... FOUR HOURS!!! which the little girls had to eat sitting backstage doing nothing... - Oh, and finally... they gave about 5 or 6 trophies to their best paying customers that participated in all the numbers and of course that have been with the school for over 5 years... Overall, we actually paid for the older children's costumes, trophies and participation fees... I don't think these was thought thru at all - I don't understand how parents can be so blind to accept this kind of treatment, when they are charging you for it!!! I know my daughter will not enroll for next year, which is sad, because she is incredibly passionate about dancing. read more

They have shows twice a year which the kids look forward to. My 4-1/2 year old has been attending ballet and tap classes at this studio for more than 6 months and she loves it. She looks forward to her weekly lessons with joy and anticipation. She adores Ms. Rose, who is also an owner, and a very caring and sensitive teacher, along with the other teachers Ms. Kristy and Ms. Laura who are also very kind and really care about their students. She has attended several weeks of their Summer Dance Camp and has thoroughly enjoyed it. They dance and have other activities such as gymnastics, makeup day, pajama day, etc. The older students have weekly field trips and the younger kids have the chance to participate in indoor field trips. My little one really enjoyed the latest indoor field trip by Little Chefs. I don't want to forget to mention the administrative staff (Sumay & Kenni) who are extremely attentive and very helpful, always ready and able to answer all my questions. I did plenty of research before choosing this studio and I am glad that I did. Their reasonable monthly and registration fees are very friendly to our budget and they don't ever seem to have difficult or ridiculously expensive requirements. We truly feel that they deserve 5 stars as we are very pleased with them. read more

My first impression of this place was very poor. Five moms were complaining on the prices and that they constantly being charged late fees. They do not send a bill nor an email remainder when payment is due. Then another group of moms were complaining being charged $80 for a boy's costume which she asked to see and was informed it was not selected yet. This place nickel and dimes you for everything. If I could give this location half of a star I would. Extremely unprofessional and uncaring. Children are not first on their list. I purchased a deal on My Cotorra for my daughter. The deal was $75.00 for a week of camp. When I registered her in mended up paying another $60.00 in Fieldtrips. She had an awful experience. She wasn't allowed to go to the bathroom after she asked multiple times. I specifically wrote on the student information form that she was lactose intolerant. When they went on a Fieldtrip to Little Chefs, a nearby cooking establishment for children. She made pizza and ate it. Needless to say, she had to use the bathroom and was not allowed to. My daughter refused to attend camp the remainder of the week. I called multiple times and left messages to see if I could be refunded for the other Fieldtrips I paid for and never received a call back. Out of courtesy the very least that they could've done was returned my call. I am extremely dissatisfied how everything was handled. read more

This place has amazing teachers and a huge selection of dance classes. My daughter enjoys her lessons and the hours are convenient as well. I do have to agree with many comments below. The late fee situation is really ridiculous, especially when you don't get an invoice or an email reminder as stated by another reviewer. Many parents are crazed these days running from work, to school, to dance etc...so yes, it is possible that you don't pay within 5 days. I also understand Ms. Rose has to pay her employees so I try to pay a few days in advance. End of year show - oy vey! what a mission!! and what a cost!! You don't have to participate if you don't want to, so I will start with that. Yes, your account has to be up to date before they hand you your PAID costume, but unless you DIG for explanation you won't get one. Reason is that they don't offer dance classes in the summer, so they want to make sure that the month of May is paid before end of year and it seems this is the best way to get it done. My daughter wanted to so to start I had to pay the costume and the "participation" fee. No one was able to explain what a family participation fee is but it's $40. In addition to that the costume was $90, thankfully my daughter only participated in one performance. Now is where chaos begins....to purchase tickets for the show parents CAMP OUT - yes, you heard correctly, CAMP OUT in front of the studio. The ticket sales procedure is very outdated as it is done manually. If you don't stand in line say at 2 am on the assigned SUNDAY morning you are guaranteed to sit at the very end of the venue. Of course the people that have been going there for years already know the drill but for the newcomers it's quite unfair since they are not warned about this. So after camping out, around 8:30 am someone comes around the line handing out numbers so they are called out in order to buy the tickets, they finally open the doors at 9 am and you stand in line until your number is called. You MUST pay in cash, which I think is rather odd considering all the technology that currently exists. While in line you can purchase flowers to be given to the child the day of the dance, a teddy bear and anything else they can get money for. I do feel they could be alot more organized and up to date with technology for the ticket sales, but you can make suggestions to no avail. They don't listen, their response is that is the way it's done, so it's pretty much like it or leave it. Many have left bc of the high prices and attitude. Sad, because if they would only learn to run a business they could be so much more successful with happy parents, who are the ones that pay the bill! read more

my 3-year old just completed her first year at Dance Gallery and the experience was absolutely wonderful! she learned ballet and tap and performed beautifully at the end of the year show. the teachers are so sweet and caring and they took should good care of my little one! the dancers all have great technique and they all were smiling from ear to ear. you can tell the girls are happy there and truly enjoy the studio experience. we will be back next year! thank you Miss Rose & staff!!! read more

My daughter attended summer camp at Dance Gallery and loved it! The program fulfilled all that was offered. I had an opportunity to see the facility and plan on signing my daughter up for the fall to try it out. It's a hard decision because she is attached to the studio she goes to now, but during the Dance Gallery summer camp I was able to see that we have been missing a lot. It has a nice combination of discipline and professionalism as well as warmth (no intimidation like some other places). Can't wait to try it out! read more

I have 2 kids who are currently attending Dance Gallery Dance Studio and they are beyond in love with the faculty and staff there! I can only say the same as everyone there treats us as if we have been there for years; with the most utter respect and kindness. The vibe of the studio is that of a homey feeling, so much so that my kids NEVER want to leave the studio!!! I am truly thankful for how warming the studio has been with us. If there was a negative Star that's what they would get!!! All the other reviews are as true as you can imagine. From the fees to the ticket sale, to the lame shows!! Same shows every year. My daughter participated in 3 shows and they were exactly the same. Same music, same costumes, same dance. (boring, lame!!). Mrs. Rose and her daughter Kristy are very unprofessional. The rest of the staff is just doing what they are told. As a business you have to try to keep your customers happy even if the customer is wrong. The saying does not lie, customers are always right!!! They really need to know when to count their losses. I have to repeat the previous comment that they do nickel and dime you for everything. Okay, I've read the negative reviews and I really believe people have not tried other places and don't realize no place is perfect. This is a business and must make money to stay in business. Any organized activity is expensive - unless subsidized (public programs). We've had our daughters here for five years and it's been mostly a very positive experience and they've had FUN while learning. Sure some things don't make sense sometimes, but they have a lot of students and you can't please everyone. My biggest complaint is that the "elite dance squad" (aka Ensemble) is always given preferential treatment for EVERYTHING. We had a one daughter in this group, but took her out. The girls in Ensemble are snobby cause they think they're better than everyone else and the staff does nothing to discourage this. The "competitions" are nothing but pageants where everyone gets a medal - while they suck $$$ from your pocket. So, as long as you know what to expect - this is still a pretty good place. read more

My daughter attended this camp for one day with her friend during the "Bring a Friend" Wednesday during the first week the camp started this summer. She loved it and we were very impressed with the dance instruction she had learned in just one day. I was actually going to start sending her to this camp until I stumbled upon this site and the bad review. I guess during the week my daughter attended there were not too many kids and it was great...friendly studio and good dance instruction. It's a shame that it seems that now there are too many kids to camp counselors/dance instructors according to the review on 7-1-2012. I really disagree with selling a week of camp at a discounted rate because it only ends up hurting the camp in the long run by overcrowding it and scares off full price paying camp customers. Overall I would definitely recommend this dance studio for classes. I would register my daughter for dance lessons after the camp. read more
