    Cinnamon roll

Stopped into Kittie's Cakes for the first time after seeing they were voted best cinnamon roll in Columbus... obviously had to try it! Turns out, it was delicious and reasonably priced at ~$5. The place is cute and attached to a book store, but only 4 small tables and not exactly the best vibe for studying. They seemed to be sold out of most of their pastries even before noon (they were out of cinnamon rolls when we got there but thankfully more were delivered). I would come back to try their biscuits and unique coffee syrups soon!

. Will start out with disclosing: I know the owners for years due to our sons rowing in regattas together and really like them, so my review might be unintentionally biased. However, I will try my hardest to not be biased. Kitties is located across the street from the library. Ironically, it shares building frontage with a bookstore. when the bookstore is open, there is an interior door between the two businesses that rolls open allowing customers to explore both business spaces. Its pretty special! It really works aestetically. They use "one line" coffee here (the name of roasting company) and thats local- so Yay! The machine they used to do the coffee here is considered one of the industry's best, so your coffee beans will have the right pull giving it great flavor and consistancy --its amazing at pulling the right amount for a balanced cup of coffee. They have some in-house syrups, which I have found really good. Plus, they try to have creative specials so always ask whats new! I got a spicy honey latte made with oat milk. Quite enjoyable. What I like about this location vs their 2 other kitties locations is its dining areas. It has a unique curved bench with tables. Its just fun. It also has a covered side patio that has been cold weather-ized. So there is plenty of spots to hang out here. Kitties also make cakes... I have never had one but you can order those. I have had their tiny cupcakes. Many, many times! Omg. Yum. Tons of flavors. They make three types of biscuits and sell egg sandwiches made from them. The egg has a lot of rise and looks delicious (have not eaten it) but its made with the jalapeno biscuit.... And I have had that (almost every time I come in!!!). the jalapeño biscuit I usually purchase and eat at home. No joke, it's my favorite of all time favorite biscuit in Columbus. Im obsessed with it. If your still reading... give them a try. (And get the biscuit) I think you will like them!!!!.

Kitties is my favorite coffee shop in Columbus. The staff are always friendly and the coffee is always hot. The pastries are top notch and the location is perfect. I love that I can grab a coffee and walk right into a bookstore, the ambiance is a whole vibe.

A coffee shop combined with a book store. What's not to love? This is not Starbucks. The coffee bar menu is small and focused on doing the classics really well. No frappuccinos here. The salted maple latte was perfect. They have several kinds of pastries and cupcakes. Apparently there are some breakfast and lunch items, but I must have missed seeing those on the menu. You can enjoy browsing the wonderful Gramercy bookstore as you caffeinate.

Stopped here on the coffee trail for a coffee and a matcha. We ordered both online but they didn't finish making them until we arrived to make sure there were hot, loved that! Both were delicious!

I should have given Kitties five stars my first time around. I don't know what I was thinking! I keep coming back every few weeks to enjoy a sweet treat and coffee at their outdoor dining area. Each time I come, I order a different baked good, and this most recent time was the cinnamon scone. It tasted just like a cinnamon poptart in the best way! And I do keep ordering the Nashville Hoodie for my drink; it's just that good. The service is always great. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Keep it up!

Kitties is a daily part of my morning routine. It is a world-class cafe and bakery that we are fortunate enough to have in our neighborhood. From baked-daily pastries, sandwiches, quiche and their famous cinnamon rolls (voted best in Columbus), to their wide variety of coffee and tea drinks, there is something at Kitties for everyone. The owners Diane and Steve have a friendly and attentive staff that treats you like family. Grab a coffee and go next door to Gramercy Books, a total gem of an independent bookstore.

The reviews on this page look really great so I'm going to preface this review with the mindset that I probably came on a one-off day. I walked in through the side door and after noticing the connecting bookstore, I stopped in there first. When it was time for a pick me up, I ordered a latte. I was going to grab some cakes but there were like two available and none looked satisfying enough to purchase. My latte was ok, but nothing to get too excited about. The kids working were distracted a bit and being the only person in there, I waited some longer than I would have expected. I am going to give them another shot though!

Hot chocolate with almond milk and homemade marshmallow.

I had Kittie's tonight while in the Gramercy bookstore and loved it! I had hot chocolate with almond milk (and a killer homemade marshmallow - YUM). It kinda made me regret every time I order almond milk hot chocolates from Starbucks, because it was so. much. better at Kittie's. I also got two of the mini cupcakes to take home - the Black and White (worth getting) and the Ooey Gooey Chocolate (... Too much chocolate for me, tbh). I thought the price (2/$5) was a bit steep given how small they are, but clearly it didn't bother me too much because I bought them. I can't think of a better way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon than perusing books while sipping Kittie's hot chocolate.

I came on a Saturday at 10 and it wasn't busy quite yet, although as we sat closer to noon, lots of people came in and out. It's a small place with not many tables and chairs. Theres some inside seating and some on the patio. They had heating lamps out there and it was covered which was nice. My friends and I sat inside at one of the tables. They don't take cash, only cards. I ordered the Nashville latte with almond milk, which had cinnamon, honey and vanilla. Pretty light on the flavors. Still thought it was good It was a bit expensive and small though. Tiny amount you get for paying about $5. Wow! Nothing wrong with local ingredients and such and such, but I think marketing this would be great to promote the quality of the product and let people know why you're paying a little more than Starbucks. My friends got the vanilla latte and the salted maple latte. All very good! The salted maple latte was saltier than I expected...almost too salty. Anyway, great atmosphere! They played a good selection of tunes: India Arie, John Legend, and some oldies. They do a great job cleaning tables and greeting and bidding you goodbye. The baristas were all very nice and hipster. I love the blue tile on the floors and the huge light fixtures above each table. The tables are small but we didn't need much space. The food looked good although we didn't try anything. Lots of people ordered their breakfast sandwiches and cupcakes. It's a place to grab and go, since seats can fill fast! People linger sometimes and other times they don't. I will add that the mugs they give for coffee if you sit in there seemed bigger. So maybe ordering a to go cup is smaller ? Not sure. The patrons were mostly retired, hip-looking women and families with young kids. I didn't see a ton of young adults although there were a few. What's nice is they've got a parking lot at the back which is marked for them. Otherwise, parallel parking is a good choice, which is no trouble to find in this neighborhood. It's attached to the Gramercy bookstore so feel free to take a look in there if you're in this area of town!

Coffee was okay. I got a latte and felt the flavor was off, a bit watered down or something. Limited seating and no wifi as well.

When you walk in you pull a number and wait for it to be called. Almost felt like I had walked into the DMV. lol We peeked at the display counters while we waited and tried to have our orders ready when it was our turn to expedite the wait for those after us. There were a few shelves that displayed various cookies, breads and things you could grab and go. The place was clean and the process was orderly. They seemed to keep things in the front stocked. We probably waited about 15 minutes. I pulled number 90 and the were calling the last of the 60's. We ordered several items to try including the packzis with three different fillings since we went at the right time of year for these. We grabbed a cheese, strawberry and lemon. We also chose a cheese danish, maple cream stick, apple fritter, cherry turnover and a donut stick. Once we told them what we wanted the girl helping us went to the back and started filling our box. A few moments later she returned, we paid and headed out the door with our sweets. My husband didn't want to wait so we opened up the box once we got to the car and each took one bite from each of our selections. We didn't find anything wrong with our choices. The one thing I was thrown off by is how they make their apple fritters. I almost missed ordering one bc they look nothing like the apple fritters I'm used to eating. It was just ok in my book. Not something I would get again. The donut stick on the other hand is something I wouldn't miss next time. In fact I'd be getting more than one. It was probably my favorite item of all we selected. The cream stick dough was soft. The cream wasn't too sweet. The only thing I would have changed was to have the maple icing be a bit more maple flavored. The turnover was nice and crispy flakey but the filling was just ok. Maybe a different flavor next time if I would get one. How can you go wrong with a cheese danish? Warm this slightly and you're hitting a home run. This was a nice stop and we learned the difference between what we liked and loved. We know just what to get next time. I will say they have a great social media presence and do a phenomenal job interacting with their customers and community.

We enjoy their products and welcome Resch's to Gahanna. We are highly confident Resch's would be even more successful if they took two actions: 1. Open for business at least by 7:00 a.m. 2. Offer the option of traditional no-filling Chocolate and Vanilla frosted Long John donuts. -- market data supports this and shows .... Based on: * Sampling of 100+ independent bakery hours across U.S. cities * Regional bakery association listings * Yelp/Google Business hour patterns * Known bakery business models A realistic, data‑grounded estimate is: Only about 10-15% of neighborhood bakeries open at 8:00 a.m. or later. Further market data shows... Bakeries that offer only filled Long Johns are extremely uncommon. Why unfilled Long Johns almost always remain on the menu * They serve the "less sweet" customer segment. * They pair well with coffee (important for morning sales). * They are cheaper to produce and have fewer failure points. * They are the "default bar donut" in many regions. Even bakeries that push filled varieties keep unfilled bars because they sell steadily and require no additional labor. --- Bottom-line conclusion Bakeries that offer only filled Long Johns are very rare -- probably under 5% of all bakeries. The overwhelming majority offer both, with filled varieties outnumbering unfilled but not replacing them.
