I've always appreciated the idea of the Kittery Outlets, but the actual shopping experience has become increasingly inconvenient. One of the biggest frustrations is the layout: instead of being able to stroll from store to store, you constantly have to get in and out of your car and drive from one shopping center to another. It really takes away from the enjoyment of outlet shopping and makes the whole day feel more like running errands than browsing. Another downside is the taxes. Whatever savings you think you're getting from outlet pricing quickly shrink once you see what you're paying in tax. It feels like a big chunk of the "discount" disappears at the register, which defeats the purpose of going to an outlet in the first place. Lastly, the number of vacant stores is hard to ignore. Whole sections look empty, and it gives the area a run-down feel. It also limits your options and makes the trip less worthwhile if the stores you came for simply aren't there anymore. Overall, the Kittery Outlets had potential, but the inconvenient layout, high taxes, and increasing number of vacant storefronts makes the experience far less appealing than it used to be. read more

Lots of popular stores, tons of parking, lots of discounted items, benches for sitting outside stores. There's even a children's play center that you pay for the day and you and your kid can come and go to take a break from shopping. There are multiple strip malls divided along a busy road but that's probably the only downside. My favorite feature? An actually very well set up nursing room (as in breastfeeding). Right next to the bathrooms but tucked further back down the hall so no one is walking by, window with darkened glass, a blind you can pull down, a LOCK on the door, comfortable seating, a TV and a changing table! I've been in a few of these nursing rooms since having my kids and this is the only one that I feel like actually provides what I need! So much credit to whoever set this up! read more

Happened to be vacationing in Portsmouth. If you're around, it's not bad, and a good bargain can be found depending on what you're looking for. It's a couple plazas all next to each other. We spent the most time in the Columbia outlet, but went in about 10 shops. read more

The outlets are separated in at least four different plazas that require driving to and from each set. Extremely inconvenient. We only noticed restrooms at one site and we went there two days and both times the women's bathroom had NO soap, absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Definitely not worth a trip. read more

So, I've been visiting these stores for, like....30 something years now. Which....actually means the last time I went to these outlet stores was before I was old enough to vote or pay income tax. Which means, from a child's perspective, it's just a bunch of stores. Now, as a bill paying adult, I can appreciate things like convenience, simplicity, fair prices and most important....expedited check out. I had decided early on not to review every single individual store in this place for two reasons. 1.) I did not GO to every store (I mean, why would I?) 2.) I don't feel like reviewing 40+ different stores. Now, MAYBE I'll get around to discussing one or two stores that stick out to me as time goes on. For now, all you need to know is that certain stores require you to wear a mask, but most do not. I think it depends on the size of the store and how many people are allowed inside. Restrooms are kinda scarce and spaced out in this outdoor mall. So, be prepared for that. There's also a fair number of places here that accept contactless payment. Good to see they've updated their POS systems. Look, there's nothing really significant about this series of outlet stores, aside from the fact that they're located in a pretty touristy spot. In fact, this entire strip has other outlet store complexes and food places with great potential. My recommendation would be to park somewhere in the center of the mall so that it evens out your walking distance. Not a whole lot else to say, really. Decent stores and a great place to get in some light cardio, I guess. Kittery Premium Outlet stores are worth 4 back to school shopping trips out of 5. read more

These outlets are an absolute joke. Not only is everything separated from each other, but there is a string of major inconveniences that keeps me from coming back. For one, the bathroom situation is atrocious. The garbage cans are filled to the brim with trash and smell like crap as well. There are almost no places to sit either. In one of the outlet strips by Lululemon, there was just one bench in the entire giant complex. Very disappointing. read more

Not worth the drive. We stayed in the Kittery/Portsmouth area for a few days and this shopping area was a bit of a bust. First off, I hate that there are multiple shopping centers NOT within walking distance. Unless you're willing to gain for steps on your Fitbit, you have to drive from place to place. I prefer the Wrentham Outlets anyday. We bought a few things here and there but was not impressed with the shopping options and there is tax on clothes here. So unless it's that awesome pair of jeans you just simply can't live without or a shirt for a buck, I'd pass. There are at least a few redeeming things with the area that aren't part of the outlets. Check out When Pigs Fly and Bob's Clam Hut. At least the trip wouldn't have been wasted. read more

I do not understand why it has such a low rating. I've always had fun here. There are so many stores in such a beautiful tranquil setting. I love coming here. I've yet to read the bad reviews or any of the reviews but if I had one negative it would be the prices. Most of the stores are on the expensive side. But not all of them and it's such a fun place to spend a day..if you like to shop that is. This is a nice place to just relax and look at al the stores. read more

Two bathrooms, ALL waiting! A busy Saturday and both sets of bathrooms are closed. In both cases, a sign clearly directs you to the other bathroom. They should use a Mobious loop as the logo! Complete fail! read more

They're outlets. Literally the same exact ones you'll find across the country. The biggest difference here is that these outlets are super scattered. When I think of outlets I picture a ginormous parking lot with never ending rows of stores. Here you can expect to drive 500-1500 yards to each set because it's located on a busy highway. If you can get over this detail you'll enjoy yourself. We were here on a Friday which was surprisingly quiet. Plenty of parking, lots of people to see in the stores but no traffic. Strange. But it had the stores I love and needed to go to so most likely we shall return! read more

Used to be a great place to shop but it's resting on old laurels. Clothing is now generated specifically for outlets so it's cheap and not much if a deal; unlike the old days when it was overstock and actually from the retail stores. Ah the Kittery Outlets...Being that I grew up about 15 miles from the Wrentham Outlets I suppose maybe this review may be a bit biased though I'll try to remain fair. THIS PLACE SUCKED! Seriously, for someone who is a bit of a bargain hunter I found that almost every store that I went in charged retail if not MORE than retail and the selection really wasn't that good. I couldn't find a single deal there, pricing in general was a joke. Example: 70% off and and this weekend only an additional 25% off - great you think, and then you check the tag and see the item's been marked up to account for the discount. So after it's all said and done, you're still paying retail. I think Kittery Outlets were designed to serve as a great shopping destination for folks who don't have big malls or designer clothing stores in their town/state. Bottom Line - If you don't mind paying retail and want to hit a J.Crew, Polo, Nautica, Brooks Brothers and Crate and Barrel all in the same day. It's 100% worth the trip, other than that the average prices, the traffic and strange configurations of store clusters make this a one-and-done for me. PS: Stop at Bob's Clams and get a cup of the Lobster Stew oh man, too good. read more

I only stopped in because I was in the area. Now that the Assembly Row Outlets are opened near my home there's no reason for me to drive to Maine for these. Yes there are more outlets in Kittery but again not worth the gas. If you are nearby definitely go check them out. Kind of spread out and hard to know where everything is while trying to navigate traffic. A map, app or plan prior to would be better. Prices were not that impressive. read more

Nope. No way. No how. Not even worth checking out. Even the Crate and Barrel Outlet was a bust. I came on a Sunday and since my local outlet center is Wrentham Premium Outlets, I was absolutely flabbergasted that it was D.E.A.D. Barely anyone shopping at all. The Kittery Outlets have a bizarre layout of different plazas all up and down the road. You shop a few stores then have to leave and move on to the next. This is a terrible layout. On top of that, the merchandise that the stores were carrying seemed to be the bottom of the barrel junk-ola that other outlets couldn't get rid of. Seriously, if you can make it to Wrentham, it's totally worth the drive and just skip Kittery all together. read more

I loved browsing the kittery outlets when I spent time in the area, and I'm actually a bit surprised by the disappointment of locals. I guess there are better outlets around? I get that the selection isn't incredible, it isn't a pretty small town after all. The sort of crappy layout is pretty standard where I'm from. Yeah it's annoying, but it isn't uncommon. I always enjoy stopping by the shops on the way to York or that general area. Some delicious restaurants in the area as well. read more

This outlet is so weird. Only couple of stores say 4 to 6 are in a plaza kind. They have many plazas like this down the road and these are called the kittery premium outlets. Only 1 plaza has 10 to 12 stores. These plazas are not next to each other, they are a little further away. You can park your car at one plaza n walk up all the plazas. read more

They have a good selection of shops here that are present in a lot of other outlet setups. They have Nike, Adidas, Coach, even a Crate and Barrel store! The parking here is crazy though, so you really have to make sure no one runs you over while walking, backs up into your car, or tries to steal your parking spot. I love outlet shopping as you can often find great deals. The problem with Kittery is all of the stores are so spread out that you have to drive to each location. That wouldn't be so bad if the traffic wasn't horrible! We usually only come to Kittery during holiday weekends so we can get the best deals (that is possibly why the traffic is so bad). You can also get a triple a (aaa) coupon book in the visitor center (guest services) if you have aaa to save money at certain stores. read more

Kittery is probably best known for the massive stretch of outlet stores that run along the highway just north of town. On a rainy day, there isn't much point in exploring the old district of Portsmouth so the outlets make a good distraction. There's even a small microbrewery tucked among the outlet stores. Best though is the fantastic old times Bob's Clam Hut. read more

Went up to do a little Christmas shopping saw a sign that said if you spend $100 turn in your receipts in and you get a $20 gift card to either Nautica or Bass shoe. Thought it sounded like a pretty good deal so I save my receipts went to the customer service building like they said they were closed then I called and they said no it's only at specific stores not all the stores. This outlet was a dud compared to others I have gone to. The outlets are spread out in different plaza's along the hwy. I hate driving parking shopping, driving parking shopping! What a waste of time and energy! The stores I visited had the dated stuff on sale! If you are vacationing in the area and have nothing better to do I guess this would appeal to you. New to the area it was nice to have outlets close by. People mention the odd layout but we didn't mind it. Many outlet malls are getting so large these days you often have to drive to a different store and areas; for example Camarillo CA outlets, Calabasas Ca outlets and Orlando. Every visit we have found good deals and product. I shop Lululemon, Nike, Gap, Old Navy, Trading Post and C&B. Bobs was great for lunch!! read more

Stores are structured in clutters. Rather like most outlets mall. Very confusing. Causes congestion on main road.

Outlets are OK, but more importantly to note is the 25 MPH speed limit on the road leading to outlets which is strictly enforced by Kittery police. Since you do have to drive to the outlets, it's very easy to go over speed limit, especially early in the day when road is less busy. Went 2 weeks ago .found great deals in Barbour ,Orvis, and Kittery Trading Post ,went 2 miles down the road to Warrens Lobster House and had a great lunch .i like the setup of small sections of stores clustered together along the highway .its a great destination for shopping and lunch ,I found most deals for at least 50% off. read more
