We recently had a mysterious failure in a bathroom faucet which resulted in black residue appearing in the water from only that one tap. I went to Holt with the faucet and a cup of the water, and the next day a representative from Grohe was at our house to look at the problem. About a week later, we had a new faucet. I'm pleased that this company stands by their products. Everyone at Holt was helpful and friendly, too.

As time passed the process began to deteriorate. We began to suspect that item pricing agreed to initially was being changed (increased substantially) after products had been ordered. We asked for itemized or detailed accounting for the items in question. None has been forth coming, only partial lists with vague and apparent alterations as though relevant information had been changed (nothing like the original spread sheets we had been given when we picked out fixtures months ago). As we pieced together the information, we realized that multiple items had price increases of between 50 and 100 %, our balance due had soared form just over $5000 to over $8000 (keep in mind no changes had been made as to what we were ordering). When we asked the owner Andy Holt for an explanation to our concerns, he had no satisfactory answer and did not even care to delve into researching our concerns. We subsequently cancelled the remaining items. Months have passed since we voiced our concerns, and now we are being billed for a restocking fee of 20% based on the supposed $8000+ in cancelled products. Would a wise consumer take delivery of a new vehicle if the price increased over 50% between the time of negotiating and agreeing to a price and the subsequent delivery of the new vehicle. I suspect most people would consider that a form of consumer fraud. Holt supply is only interested in your money and is not interested in good customer relations (let alone good accounting practices).

When…read moreI received the e-mail stating I hadn't chosen Re-Bath I had forgotten that I would receive said e-mail but it wasn't closing my file with Re-Bath. It had been a bad night and I woke up cranky and this e-mail at first, rushed reading was enough to make me go haywire. I apologize for the earlier post. I had thought about deleting it but, thought that would be unfair to anyone who might have seen it. I wanted them to know as Paul Harvey use to say "The rest of the story". Hopefully I can try again.

We had a very frustrating experience with ReBath, primarily surrounded around lack of…read morecommunication. We were told it would be a two-day project, starting on May 2nd. Our bathroom was not finished until June 17th - over six weeks later. During this time, workers would show up unannounced - there was very little communication as to who was coming to our house, when, what work they were completing, and how long it would take. Our project quickly became more involved than expected and at no point did anyone sit us down and explain what would need to be done or how much the 'change order' was expected to cost. We were not informed of new work to be completed or how long it was expected to take - again, workers showed up unannounced and without information. Repeatedly, ReBath workers showed up expecting us to pay them for part of the project so they could close out the order. However, this was while other work was still being completed and things were still very much in flux. There was no warning that we'd be asked to pay them nearly $5,000 on a random day within this six-week process. Further, ReBath had never told us the estimated costs that would be on top of our original contract. I had to call the main office and let them know that if they wanted to be paid, they would need to tell us the last day of the project and give us time in advance to prepare those funds. Plus, we wanted to know what additional funds we'd be paying on top of our original order (which no one had mentioned, until I called to request this information). ReBath attempted to save us some money by recommending a flooring guy who was a former employee of ReBath. We were not given a timeframe to seek our own estimates, so we agreed to just have the guy who was recommended do our flooring. He overcharged - by about double what the costs should actually be. He did an incredibly poor job, one of which required ReBath staff to come back and correct mistakes. We were told 100% of the project would be under ReBath - but they subcontracted with a plumbing company (unbeknownst to us) which we had no control over. Because of this, I (me, the customer!) was left to coordinate these different entities. If I hadn't called the plumbing company, I wouldn't have known about the project and their timeline. I would not recommend using ReBath unless you stay at home daily without anything else to do and can monitor the in's and out's of the daily work. I work from home and was interrupted repeatedly during important work meetings - which was highly inappropriate. I try to be kind, but it was very, very frustrating after 6 weeks. Further, I think our project required hourly & daily oversight - which I unfortunately couldn't provide, which resulted in a disappointing final result. At this time, there are STILL items that are not completed that we are responsible now for getting done (doorway transitions, repainting, smoothing out drywall, etc.). An incredibly frustrating experience with very little communication or information. The sales pitch was so incredibly inaccurate and I feel silly for having believed it.

Nearly 2 years later and no communication for months, nothing has been done. The gate is barely functional and doesn't close all the way. What makes this even more impressive is that I live out of town and handled everything over the phone with William, the co-owner. From our very first conversation, I could tell he was knowledgeable, honest, and committed to delivering top-quality work. We worked out all the contract details remotely, and when I finally met him in person on the first day of the project, he was exactly who I had come to trust over the phone--professional, straightforward, and a man of integrity. His team was phenomenal! Every worker assigned to the job was skilled, efficient, and respectful of my mom's home. They showed up early every day, put in full days (sometimes even longer), and left no detail overlooked. There were no hidden surprises, no delays--just honest, high-quality workmanship. Finding a contractor you can trust, especially from a distance, is no small task. But I found exactly that with CU Midwest Designs. If you're looking for a company that delivers exceptional results with integrity and professionalism, look no further. I HIGHLY recommend them for any home construction needs!

The young man who appeared to be in charge, offered to have staff find my part for me, so I handed over the old part, received a new part from an older gentleman and checked out. It was the wrong size. I went back, telling the young man that I could not make the 1.5" part I was provided fit the 1.25" fitting (as it was not the same size as the part I provided for replacement), only to be thoroughly offended as he told me perhaps I needed a plumber (to replace a HAND tightened PVC sink trap). I assured him I was perfectly capable of changing out the simple part, when I HAVE the CORRECT replacement part. I showed him the original part and the wrong part, and received another trap. That did NOT fit. Both employees failed to note that the trap I provided was threaded on only ONE end and therefore gave me traps threaded on both ends. I take full responsibility for failing to check the replacement parts both times BEFORE purchase, as I had unfortunately grown accustomed to trusting the employees to know their business. After all, isn't it just a game of matching the part? Observation skills? Maybe that just can't be trained :-/ So now I had lost the time, distance, and convenience factors (thereby wasting my client's money) of going to Do It Best vs a big box store and I had been insulted. I went to the store a third time, rather frustrated, I think for good reason, only to find the young man had NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER in ASSISTING me with finding the correct part. He outright told me to go to a big box store. So much for the benefits one used to find by going to the local store :-(. Truly disappointing in a store I once enjoyed going to and whose employees were always kind and welcoming. Albeit, the woman behind the counter was still friendly and the guy at the paint counter was quite welcoming. Too bad it wasn't paint that I needed that day. Perhaps some employee training, education, or rearranging can help redeem the store eventually. But customer service like that was MUCH MUCH worse than no customer service at all! In the end, I looked for and found the correct part independently at a local family owned store. If you want something done right...
