The operating organization is the Preservation and Conservation Association, and the items for (very affordable) sale are largely historical or quite vintage. When I passed through they had light fixtures, doors, what sure seemed to be a Philco BC-221-N Vintage Radio Frequency Meter, door locks with keys, school lockers, etc etc. As another reviewer noted, the doors are all labeled with measurements and organized so you don't have to fish things out unnecessarily. Staff is super friendly and helpful, I bought a project and the staff made sure I knew what I was getting in for. There is a little museum section in the back of the store with historical items on display and they have some books for in-store use on topics like making a home more elder-friendly and dealing with vintage hardware. Community health: when we went, the doors were open for cross ventilation and half the staff were masking (note, I knocked a star off bc community spread is high right now and everyone, regardless of vaccination status, should be masking indoors).

Prices were hard to find. Not everything had a price and I didn't want to bring every piece up to the counter to check it. There's no way of knowing whether the piece you're buying is in working order or not (e.g. electrical pieces). So I snagged a really cool coffee table for the price I would have paid at Walmart or IKEA which was plan A after the sectional purchase. Secondly, I arranged the coffee table to be delivered. I live up 4 sets of stairs, guilt is already setting in. I tell Todd the delivery guy (who conveniently is available to reach by text) that I live in a somewhat non ideal location for moving stuff. He says no problem and when he gets to my place he had a guy with him so I only had to open doors. I was already going to tip because of the stairs but they made it look so easy! Me and friends practically died moving couches up those bad boy stairs. But here's the kicker, THEY DENIED MY TIP, SAYING IT WAS INCLUDED WITH THE PURCHASE. My super discounted purchase! Great business, great people. Only negative side is I will always feel guilty I didn't convince them to take the tip!

The owner is charming and seems to have good taste, BUT, she suffers from poor follow-through and makes promises she apparently has no intention of delivering on. There is nothing more frustrating than needing to get a project wrapped up and waiting for weeks upon weeks for answers or design proposals. Spend your money in Indianapolis, Chicago, or St. Louis where companies deliver on their promises and actually work for their money.

However, I've walked in there now and then just to get a piece of angle iron to my dimensions and it's so quick and easy. They even let me walk through their warehouse so I could see what they had in stock. I once brought in a mock-up drain cover I made of tape and cardboard and asked them to make it in steel. I thought they were going to laugh at me, but the next day they handed me a plasma-cut and welded part that matched my mock-up perfectly, I think I paid under $40 for it. Amazing. They have staff on hand that can help advise you on beam sizing and such. This is not like going to the hardware store - these people know what they're talking about. If you think you might ever be in need of stock steel or custom parts you should at least stop by at take a look at their operation.

Placing my order on the phone, the gentleman I spoke to was not friendly at all. Answering the phone with "Yeah," I proceeded with telling him what I needed (a very small order) and merely told me to pick it up the next day because they were leaving the office early, and hung up on me. So, pulling into Kurland the next day with my boss--he planned on setting up an account--I hop out to ask where we should pull the trailer to pick up our metal. As I walk into the office, a female secretary asks me "What do you want?" Taken back a little, I tell her that I have an order to pick up, and ask where my boss should pull the trailer. She replies with "I'm going to need some money first," to which I replied that my boss will have to come in and take care of it, so she rolled her eyes and went back to her computer without saying anything. I then went to go get my boss, and as he signed the bill was asking about setting up an account. The secretary then interrupted my boss and said, very rudely, "I'm sorry, no more conversation. One more word and I'm going to blow up on you," as she grabbed the receipt from his hand, took her copy, and threw it on the counter in front of us. At this point, an older man in the office next to the reception area inaudibly yelled something, to which the secretary yelled back "Oh yeah he's probably still posting to Facebook isn't he." My boss and I had no idea what to do, so I asked who we can talk to about picking up our order. The secretary merely pointed to the man's office and sat back down. Then my boss went into his office, and after trying several times to get his attention, the man asked "What? What do you want?" My boss explained that we had an order to pick up and he told us to just go to the back shop. The only positive thing about our visit to Kurland was the older gentleman in charge of the shop--Grady, I believe. He was very friendly and helped us get our order into the trailer. The two people in the office were extremely unprofessional, and we ended up not able to even set up an account with them. If ordering metal from Kurland, I recommend delivery. Good product, terrible service.

I visited Everyday Quilting Company for the first time today. I brought in an almost finished…read morewall hanging. I was looking for ideas about how to add a border and about what colors might work with the wide variety of colors in the wall hanging. Their customer service was fabulous! Both employees brought bolts of fabric for me to consider, and suggested that I consider a double border. With their help, I was quickly able to pick colors, and the double border allowed me to highlight several colors in the wall hanging so that they will really pop. They calculated the amount of fabric I would need for the border and the backing and off I went, excited to have found something that I think will be really pretty when finished. They do long arm quilting there so when I have the borders completed I can take it there to have the actual quilting done. I was very impressed with how friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful they were and will definitely visit again. And their prices were very reasonable!
