I had my kitchen cupboards and drawers refaced with Kitchens by Katie. Megan met with me soon after I contacted Kitchens by Katie. She was amazing, as she spent time helping me pick out the perfect color. I normally get 2 or 3 estimates for house projects, but after meeting with Megan, I didn't feel a need for another estimate. Jeff was my installer and he was everything a great installer should be. He was knowledgeable, kind and personable. When people see my new cupboards & drawers, they compliment the beautiful cabinetry and how big and bright my kitchen looks. If you're looking into cabinet refacing definitely check out Kitchen by Katie's, as they are reasonable, provide quality products and great installation. I would strongly not recommend Kitchens by Katie for many reasons. I'm sharing my experience so that others have a much smoother remodel than I did. And there are a few things that were misleading, as well as some other things that I should have vetted myself but didn't. First, there are things they DON'T do: they don't do soft close drawers, which is a shame because that really elevates the feel of a kitchen. They also don't remove old cabinets, you are responsible for that. They will tell you that Habitat for Humanity will come get it for free but that's not true, it's around $250.00. The workmanship: We were originally going to reface our cabinets in order to save the countertops from being destroyed, but decided to go with new because another contractor I know (not affiliated with Kitchens by Katie) was able to remove the countertops for the new cabinets. I should have canceled this entire job, but I didn't want to leave the owner Mike at KbyK in a lurch. I regret that decision. Anyways, the installation: No protective plastic was draped around my kitchen so my entire house was filled with dust, which was a nightmare. The install was fine, but there are things that are part of their design that I know many customers wouldn't like. I didn't discover this until the job was completed. There are screw holes that show in the base of all my lowers cabinets, the drawer sides are unfinished looking complete with pencil marks and splintered wood pieces. The hole gaps for the pipes were not custom fitted so things would fall through the base of the cabinet. I pointed this out and their "fix" was filling it with yellow foam which overflowed and shows when you open the cabinets. Overall these cabinets are fine, but they don't feel finished and don't feel elevated in quality. As for the owner, i say proceed with caution. Mike has a condescending demeanor, and I have seen other reviews where people noted this. I had a meeting with his team after the job was completed to address the issues and he had a very difficult time keeping his composure. My husband even asked him to stop speaking poorly to me. Bottom line, if you are looking to remodel a kitchen, hire a contractor that can do all the other things, like disconnect and reconnect the water lines, etc. They aren't required to reinstall your microwave, but they did that for me at least. It's important to think about all these little things. I would say if you have a completely new build and are starting the full build-out of a kitchen, then MAYBE Kitchens by Katie could be part of this mix, but why not just hire a contractor that does it all? If you need refacing, then possibly K by K, but you run the risk of destruction of backsplash and countertops (which happened to me, and Mike attempted to fix, but with many flaws. I'm just moving on from this mess). Please consider everything here before hiring. I regret this decision. My contractor is coming back in to install soft close drawers, by the way. Mike quoted me $100.00 per drawer at 15 drawers at a post-project meeting. My contractor is only charging me $400.00 total to fix. Please, please learn from my mistakes. ***in response to Mikes response: this is not a smear campaign, I was simply stating what happened. The photos I provided speak for themselves, and I did not say anything that was untrue. No plastic was used to protect my house from dust, that is vastly different from your perspective. I do understand that dust can fly, but John cut the tiles from the wall with a saw, and with no plastic up, dust was a nightmare. I was very clear through text with Megan that I didn't feel like rehashing this project and didn't want to talk unless compensation was part of the discussion. She chose to call me still, and provided no further resolution. I did ask for soft close drawers, you told me you only did that for doors not drawers. John told me via text you didn't do them because you can't provide a warranty. I provided photos already, the public can decide for themselves. Please do better by your customers. read more

It all started when I came home the second day of construction and came home and spent hours and a roll of tape pointing out simple hard to miss issues. They fixed it the next day but spending that kind of money the 2nd day of construction I shouldn't come home to that. Now we have dented supposedly new cabinet doors that are dented. A microwave shelf that doesn't support a microwave. Trim that doesn't fit tight to the wall. No support for the laminate trim around countertop so it cracks. They want to come back at my cost to fix issues that shouldn't even be issues less than a month later. read more

Hired Kitchens by Katie to reface cabinets in my kitchen. Started week of Nov. 13, 17, & finished the following week. Contacted owner with workmanship concerns. Told they would get to it the week of Christmas, then changed to shortly after Christmas. To date, no contact from Kitchens by Katie. Expected better workmanship & follow up after spending thousands of dollars. Disappointed! read more

If you use Kitchens by Katie please be aware that their customer service after the job is worthless. Upon completion of the job I found the cabinet doors "flopped" when open and banged into each other - or whatever was near. I was told this was a problem they had never had and that I should be careful opening and closing the cabinets. Really?! The work was done in my home, the problem was in my home and to have any concerns dismissed over the phone is completely unacceptable. I have never been treated so rudely after spending so much money - but since I got "a great deal" I had to deal with what I purchased. No referral from me and I had several neighbors approach me after their truck was at my home. They all saw the problem. Very sad. read more

I bought doors and veneer with the intention of doing it myself, my wife new better. She called Kitchens by Katie and even though they usually don't install other people's product, they made a exception and did a much better job than I could have. Kitchens by Katie was a perfect fit for our needs. We had an area that we needed to "fit" in a kitchen. So everything was custom. Not only did the owner come to our place to take measurements and listen to our ideas, but helped us "see" what would work and then gave us a fair estimate. Their showroom really helped with making choices and being able to visualize what the finished product would be like. The cabinet installer also was professional and pleasant. Kitchens By Katie was commissioned to build a very large custom video/audio console/cabinet for us. They indicated to us in advance that this was not something they usually do, however they took the job on and did a marvelous job on it. They finished it on time and within budget! May 2018 I had Kitchens by Katie re do my kitchen cabinets. The quality of materials was excellent. Jeff did the work and he was very professional. He was on time everyday. Completed the project in just four days. Asked questions along the way to make sure he got things as I wanted them. He is a great craftsman. This is the third project they have done for me. We hired "Kitchens by Katie" to remodel our kitchen in our 1902 built home. An older home presents many challenges with unlevel surfaces and unusual angles. This was not too big a challenge for Mike and his son, Shane. Mike designed and built a full custom kitchen from scratch at a totally affordable price. The quality of these solid wood kitchen cabinets is absolutely impressive. The finish is beautiful. Each of the lower cabinets was customized with roll out drawers, making them so functional. And the special pull out cabinets they designed above the refrigerator is our favorite by far. Even as a shorter person, those cabinets are now completely usable space. They offered so many ways to customize our kitchen so that the small space was maximized with storage. Our kitchen is now three years old and still looks as new as the day it was installed, attesting to the great quality and craftsmanship of "Kitchens by Katie". Highly recommend this company! read more
