Mitten Concrete was the contractor used for our new construction home. We've been disappointed with…read morethe quality and handling of the driveway. From the beginning, it didn't look quite right, but we gave it time, hoping it would settle or improve. Unfortunately, the issues only worsened. When we raised our concerns, we were told the issues were outside their control -- which differs from what we've heard from other independent professionals. We felt the communication could have been more constructive and at times came across as dismissive. After several conversations, Mitten offered to replace only certain sections and tint the rest. From what we've learned, tinting is often seen as more of a cosmetic fix than a long-term solution. It may not match the look of a properly poured driveway and could require ongoing maintenance -- not what we expected in a brand-new home. We hope this feedback helps others make informed decisions when selecting a contractor.

The result was a spider web look ("crazing cracks") and a pad not properly squared. So when it came to installing a 130 foot concrete driveway, I passed on this guy. I tried to get a price from an Allegan guy named Randy. He said he would come out and look at the Job but he no showed and no call to waive off the job. Two other guys came out but they were not licensed and their prices were too high. My neighbor suggested I call Valley Concrete owned by Matt Knight. I called and Matt came over that night. He gave me a price the same day. I verified that he was licensed as required by law. His price was fair and lower than the other guys. I hired Matt and he installed the new driveway within a few weeks. He chose Hamilton Ready Mix who supplied a quality mix. I had no fears that Matt would not pay his suppliers and employees. I would highly recommend Valley Concrete to other customers. He provided a very good product in a timely fashion at a fair and reasonable price.

When you've been in a house for a while, one of the big money things you're confronted with is a…read moreroof replacement. Fortunately I've gotten in and out of previous homes before having to tackle this but now, the time has come. After talking to several companies and reviewing proposals, I chose Smart Roofing Systems. Smart has done many homes in my neighborhood and everyone had good things to say about them. My experience was no exception. One difference I noticed about Smart vs. other companies is that instead of having a huge dumpster placed in your driveway, they used an open trailer on wheels allowing for easy removal of the debris each day. I also liked the fact that this left no marks on the asphalt driveway like some heavy dumpster can do. The crews put in extremely long days and did an amazing clean up. When you tear down a roof, shingles, nails, etc. go everywhere. The job site remained neat and the daily and final clean up was superb. Smart was extremely easy to do business with. Great, responsive communications and follow up. I tend to ask a lot of questions especially given the costs involved. Never was I left hanging. I highly recommend Smart Roofing Systems.

Looking forward to having our old roof from 20+ years removed and replaced tomorrow, 07/24/25! Well fellow homeowners, our roof has been replaced in less than 8 hours? What is most amazing is that it was 100 degrees today in SW Michigan? What literally perfect hard workers and team removing our old roof and a professional and beautiful replacement in this 100 degree combined hot and humid day at our home in Vicksburg Michigan! I spoke in the Yelp chat with questions to the owner Richard Paige in Rockford, MI., who certainly knew all the questions he answered without hesitation and it revealed his knowledge of all the aspects we needed to know! We could not have been more impressed, and we made the decision to have our roof replaced in the very next week he was able to fit us into! A week ago our new premium was due and having our initial roof replaced today, we were able to obtain a credit of $617! Ask your agent about this because it was apparent our roof was old enough that it was raising the cost of our annual premium! We never knew that, but we must also honestly inform all homeowners that insurance companies are very concerned about possible claims because of aging roofs, which seemed fairly obvious, but it "woke us up" when faced with a 50% increase in the past 2 years? Thankfully our agent was definitely helpful and on our side in advising us we could save so much by spending a very reasonable amount with Smart Roofing out of Rockford who replied to me on the YELP APP almost immediately and the rest was history! We are now one week later very thankful this was communicated so well by the owner Richard Paige! We advise anyone in need of reducing sudden increases in homeowners premiums to do a small amount of research, and we sure hope our advice is helpful to all? Sincerely, Mike & Kathy

TLDR: I wish I had never used Premier Roofing. Nate lied to get my business and communication was…read morepathetic. We bought a home in July 2025 with some known roofing issues. Nate came out to give us a quote, and quickly expanded the scope of what they would "need" to do. The quote was separated into two sections, as per conversation with Nate: (1) need to do before winter to stop leaking and limit damage already incurred, and (2) improvements that we could make in the spring. We agreed to part #1 in October, to include work on the flashing around our chimney, the single most important piece of the work required. Over a month went by and I heard nothing until the third time I reached out for an update, at which point I was assured the work had been done - no photos, no notice they were on my property, the only evidence that they'd been on my property was pieces of scaffolding they left behind in my yard. In January, on my first trip to the home since work had been "done", I was able to see very obviously from the ground the work had not been completed as described. I emailed with photo evidence of internal water damage and flashing clearly protruding, completely unconnected to the chimney. I did not hear back for over a month. When they finally got back to me, they claimed the flashing - the single most important part of the work that I was repeatedly assured would be part of the work completed - was not, in fact, included the $4,000 bill. They provided (finally) photos of other work that had been done. After multiple days of back and forth, I was offered $200 off to apparently make up for being lied to and the internal damage done to my house for them not doing the work they swore up and down they'd do before the winter set in. Thanks for nothing, you clowns.

When we first started the process of making some updates to the front of our home with vertical…read moresiding and covering posts, the process was easy and fairly efficient. We worked with Dana who during this part was great. The workers who came to do the actual work were great and worked so hard. They worked on a Saturday. There was some challenges in communicating about finishing the project. The screen door was left untouched. We were told that Premier would be in touch and they were the next week. We were told that they were unsure why the door was not put on. Dana came out and asked for payment which we honored however in hindsight we should have asked to wait to pay the balanced as the work was not completed. We wonder if we had done this if Premier might have worked harder to complete our project!? We received the run around for weeks. Someone came out to put the new door on and found the door missing parts and a part broken. Then it was several more weeks before it was finished all and all from the last day of work until it was completed on 1/9/25. It was nearly eight weeks to complete the project. We were not fully informed of the final time someone came out. Still then it was discovered that there was more work to be done. Again, the quality of work was great. The communication and taking full responsibility was very much lacking. We asked for a new door as that was what we paid for and were given a response about if a part was missing on a car we would not recieve a new car. However, we paid for the new door. Patti D

We also had to scrape splattered concrete off our vinyl siding and vinyl fence. I'm not a cement expert so I can't speak on that end of things but I am a Customer Service expert and I would not want my company name associated with shabby work. Basically, this review is just to make people aware that unless you have MAJOR cement damage you might as well save your money because according to Gary "it happens."
