Usually, making changes on the fly would add $$$ and time, but we stayed on budget while finishing the whole project in two weeks. Called yesterday to see where it was. They had no idea when it would be in and had no idea how to track it. Um ok. So we told them we needed other items and would be coming today to shop. We planned our day around going. Arrived today and met with a sign that we cannot go in. This information should have been told to us yesterday when WE TOLD THEM we were coming. We need to see what we are buying. So we called from our car to see where this item was we ordered a week ago and asked about yesterday. Now we are told that the manufacturer will not ship without prepayment and they had to get a credit card from an employee to do this. WHAT IS GOING ON? So this was not told to us yesterday ... apparently they sat on the order with our prepayment for almost a week. And we still had to ask again. No one called us to let us know. Now off to restaurant depot to get what we needed and ordered our item from another supplier. Complete waste of time to deal with them. If you like wasting your time and overspending , feel free to shop there. Consider yourself warned. Edit for Angelo's response - I completely understand covid guidelines. First of all, I have to state that the quality of their materials is excellent and that the workmanship of Ben, their contractor, who did the work in our kitchen, is top notch with a few caveats, the main of which is the fact that he works very slowly. But now the issues: 1. When we signed the contract they estimated that the work would be done in 5 weeks. Well, it took four months and change. The only thing that was on time was Jerry asking for his check for the "progress" of the work. After 5 weeks we had already paid for 75% of the work but the work was nowhere near half-finished and I refused to give him the full payment, writing a check that only covered part of his demands. 2. There were some problems in the completion of the work. First, the measurements taken for the installation of the lights were wrong. One of the cabinets would hit the ceiling lights when opened, so that this light fixture had to be moved (after being installed). Well, Jerry insists on CHARGING us for the correction of their mistake. Two, when Ben ran out of the original grout for the kitchen backsplash, he completed the work with grout of a very different color, which is unacceptable. There were a couple of other things, but for the sake of brevity I will not go into those details. 3. We asked Jerry to come to the house for a full inspection of the work because in addition to the grout problem there were a couple of small issues we wanted to address. We stated clearly that we would complete payment for the work THEN. He has flatly refused and threatened with collections, putting a lien on our house unless we pay the balance PLUS another $1200 he is charging us for the work to move the lights and a couple of other small things. We have refused to send the check but we will be very happy to cover our obligations if he JUST SHOWED UP TO INSPECT THE FINISHED WORK. We have an old house and we have lived in it for over 20 years. We have dealt with several contractors for a new porch, roof, solar panels, bathrooms, electrical and sewage, etc... and this is the first time in which a contractor refuses flatly to come to the house for the final inspection. This is very unprofessional and, given the glowing review posted by Tracy F, I would think her review is rather suspicious...

Jason and his team renovated the whole basement by installing drywall, replacing the drop ceiling with a conventional ceiling and new lighting, and covering the entire floor with functional but attractive laminate. They went above and beyond to make sure we were involved in the design and satisfied with the results. In addition, they replaced our kitchen floor, which had some water damage, with beautiful ceramic tile to complement the existing quartz counters. This is the second major project Jason has done for us. He previously remodeled a bathroom for us, replacing all the fixtures and flooring, as well as installing a pocket door. We are very happy with all the work that was done and would highly recommend Building Buddies.

Our kitchen remodel started 7/12/17 & just ended yesterday 10/7/17. Many items in our home were damaged due to lack of care & concern. Statements were made & never followed-through. Hopefully, you also work from home, so you can monitor the quality of the work being done. In the end, our kitchen looks nice, but they only offered a 5% reduction of the total cost of the project (not including countertops). This is the reason for this negative review, as there were many damages & deficiencies that clearly were not accounted for. Admittedly, we settled, because after 12 weeks of having strangers in our home & the idea of dragging this through arbitration: WE. WERE. DONE. 1. Rug destroyed - not covered during months of abuse & demolition supplies/construction equipment stored on top of it. Contractor's assistant (his young neighbor) sat on it & ate lunch. We expressed concerns about his age/inexperience. Company credited the cost of the rug 2. Drapes destroyed: no plastic hung during demo. I hung plastic myself, because even though this was brought to the project manager's attention, it was not done. Company credited the cost of the drapes 3. Basement stairs stripped: contractor spilled chemicals that removed the paint 4. Dishwasher scratched, fridge & range stained/rusted: not covered despite MULTIPLE prompts. Company offered to replace panels or give discount 5. Dishwasher + insulation covered in demolition debris: not covered despite MULTIPLE prompts. It was installed, still covered in debris 6. Dishwasher toe kick cover lost, then reattached with BLACK TAPE. Company offered to come back (for a 5th "final visit"); we declined as we are 12 weeks into this project & want them out of our home 7. Refrigerator covered with demolition debris INSIDE + out: contractor never covered it & used it for personal use. We cleaned it & found drywall/plaster INSIDE; as well as contractor's iced tea 8. Clogged drain: contractor poured waste buckets in sink. Never fixed, despite multiple prompts 9. Stained Leman's drawer: contractor placed dirty, wet, copper pipes in the new cabinet * No dumpster onsite for demolition, so debris was stored on our rug in our home * Vent relocation never communicated to contractor, so a wood repair was done under tile floor instead of hardibacker * Vent moved to a different location, due to the PM "not understanding construction", per 1st contractor * Electrician said PM & contractor "are rarely on the same page." * 2nd vent not given an elbow duct under toe kick * Cabinets sat in hot/humid garage for weeks & never rested indoors before installation * Countertops "ran out" so we had to choose new ones 2 weeks into the project * Large sink delivered - homeowners had to carry it indoors in the rain, as the contractor left early * Contractor used our personal weight equipment from the garage to bang down uneven tiles without our permission * Over 7 weeks late for project completion. Multiple 2-4 hour work days & at least 3 days when NOBODY showed up. An additional crew was promised to make up for lost time, but never happened * Poor quality work lead to firing of 1st contractor. 2nd one had to fix & completely redo tasks, leading to more delays & being pressured to "just finish the job" * PM claims only 1 job is assigned to a crew at a time, but near the end, our contractor was working multiple jobs * Floor grout applied in dirty seams, in stages, weeks apart, creating obvious differences in colors & divets/bumps. 2nd contractor had to regrout the entire floor AFTER cabinets & appliances were installed, causing staining/rusting of appliances & mounds of grout against toekicks * PM said ceiling above refrigerator would be painted due to cabinets being installed before painting, this was never done * Cabinets installed before painting, leading to an unfinished look around cabinets * PM said a master plumber would be doing the plumbing as required by Allegheny county, but this never happened * Microwave measurements admittedly were never even reviewed by PM, which lead to delays in installation & having to choose a less desirable microwave * Shortages of supplies: Grout, floor tile, crown molding. Per 1st contractor "this happens all the time to save money" * Not fully installing hardibacker under cabinets due to being "too much work" so tile placed directly on top of linoleum. Contractor would not have tiled under cabinets at all, had I not monitored & confronted him. He said, "You won't even see it anyway!" * Large pieces of wood used as tile transitions, instead of sleuders. Our bathroom door had to be sawed down so it would actually close (twice) * Construction supplies left behind for months & are still present. We have to arrange large trash pickup

Todd's attitude is atrocious and he shouldn't be dealing with customers. The electrician left a disastrous mess in the basement of one customer from drilling and running wire. It was never cleaned except by the homeowners. I never recieved a pay stub until the end of my employment. And overheard frequent conversations about checks bouncing. So, just finishing up two bathrooms: our master bathroom and a second-floor hall bathroom, that share a wall. The hall bathroom is approximately 8x10 and the master bath is 10x10, 100-year-old Mt. Lebanon home. The Hall bath is original mud set. So, started the process two years ago and my wife and I struggled to find a contractor. Our primary goal was "peace of mind." We wanted to find someone that had vision, did quality work, and would give us options that would fit within a reasonable budget. And, honesty, after a while, all the contractors start to sound the same...."tell us what you want." And the prices were sometimes hard to fathom and while our initial goal was $60K for both bathrooms, we actually had bids in the $90-100K range. Crazy. After almost losing hope, I was introduced to Jeff through a friend that I could consider "exceptionally meticulous," lol, or picky! And the fact that this friend had nothing but positive things to say about Jeff meant a lot. Look at the pictures, they speak for themselves. What you need to know is that Jeff is onsite and a hands-on contractor. He also has a really great team. He is SUPER meticulous and thinks through obstacles as they arise. When you are opening 100-year-old walls, you sometimes come across surprises and obstacles. I was so impressed by Jeff's vision and how he would thing through these challenges. Further, he has a very strong "design" sense, as the project moved forward, he would bring up ideas to improve the beginning vision and they were always great. As an example, our walk-in closet shared a wall with our master bathroom and now we have a new second floor laundry room/walk in closet. It has changed our life! Jeff's estimate did not change aside from add-ons that made sense as the project progressed. His labor costs were mid-point to our bids and while we went over budget, it was our choice because of the materials we chose to use. And why am I posting all this, you might ask? I've been in sales my entire career, and it's my fundamental belief that when you identify true, trusted professionals, you help them. The last thing I will say about Jeff is that you can trust him. He cares about his reputation and wants to see his customers thrilled. He is responsible and will diligently work on your project until it is done. He gave us our "peace of mind."
