This is not a 2.5 star grocery store, trust me, I've lived in Whistler for a year now and this is…read moreprobably the best one North of Vancouver. We come here to get meats (a lot of which are from Pemberton) and they are marinated in fun sauces so all you have to do is pop whatever it is you got into the oven. I also love their salmon cuts, they are so fresh, deboned and they don't have that nasty skin on them. I'll have to address Jacob L.'s review and say that I come here 2-3 times a month and have never had bad veggies or find the shelves empty. I must be lucky? Their produce section is awesome, I drive down here to get real bean sprouts and they have cute kits to make things like tom yum soup. Their salads and cut fruit are also great time savers and I've never had overripe or rotten pieces in what I've purchased. But I will say there are double sections of things that don't make sense. I am not sure if this is on purpose or if one aisle is organic, special etc. For example there are two tea and coffee sections. One is by the freezers the other is to the left of the store when you walk in. Why is this? I have no idea but their tea selection from their own brand is amazballs and I always stock up on at least 5 types of chai tea and whatever else is in season a the moment. The other Independent store in Whistler isn't as large and they frequently run out of the teas this store carries. The bakery is spot on awesome, we get our cakes from this location (they have more options than the one in Whistler) and they carry loads of different types of massive bags of naan. Their pre-made food section is also pretty impressive. If I were a tourist heading up to Whistler, stop here and get something! Their flat beads, pizzas, spicy wings, pastas, ready to pop in the oven lasagna, quiches, and stuffed peppers are all so good. They also have awesome Indian food, that Chicken Vindaloo they serve is pretty legit. Whistler is expensive for dinning, if you are in a vacation time share unit or know that you have a kitchen in your room, stock up here. #Squamish

One would think all chain grocery stores are the same, when I started to collect Points using the…read moreOptimum App ( President's Choice / Loblaw / Shoppers Drug Mart / NoFrills etc. ) I have been going to different locations, good thing is each stores offers slightly different product and especially ethnic products. E.g. I find more European items at the Tsawwassen store and more Halal products at the North Vancouver store! Since they offer many self service check-out counters I have not used customer service and interact with the staff necessary, I don't know if that is a good thing or not but, we do get what we wanted most of the time! As for Ambiance, most stores offer bright and clean environments which makes shopping a little more enjoyable!

There was an unpleasant young man getting carts ready to bring in so I asked if I could take one. He said "go ahead" and gave me a dirty look. Whatever, got a cart and went back in. The employees were restocking the shelves and had there carts sideways and blocking aisles. Completely oblivious that noone could get through. I said "excuse me" and he gave me a dirty look, like how dare I ask him to park his cart parallel to the aisle. When I finished shopping, there were ridiculously long line ups for the cashiers. At least 10 customers waiting at each till. I didn't have a lot, 21 items, so I went through the express, self check out. The young women working that section were also surly and i guess they thought i had more than 25 items and they were giving me dirty looks, too. wtf? where did they find these miserable people? I got home and the stuff from the bakery were too stale to eat and I had to throw it out. The time before the half & half cream went off in 2 days. Who wants to waste their money and get treated poorly when yoi go to the store? These issues are a common occurrence. My friends & family don't have a positive things to say about this store and don't go anymore. Now I understand what they've complained about and it's not worth the hassle. Their employees probably get shit pay and they hate working there. This store has gone down hill over the past couple of years.
