Honestly, the woman who made those is amazing. However, I'm not sure, but I think there's been a recent change in ownership (August 2023??), so I cannot comment on whether the current fresh food offerings are the same calibre. But, they've reorganized the layout a bit, and they're definitely more focused on Eastern European offerings with lots of frozen, fresh and shelf stable options. I was very happy to see that they still have the same vacuum sealed smoked chicken and ribs, and they seem to have a wider assortment of frozen pierogies and pelmeni than typically available in grocery stores. Hopefully the woman with the magical savoury baked goods is still there to make her delectable items!

The brisket was kind of sweet, which was disappointing. They place has an interesting bar feel. The menu is somewhat limited and obv very meat focused. It didn't wow me. I don't know if I will go back. I would probably try other restaurants around before I go back there.

I got their pork belly sandwich and a Caesar salad on the side while my boyfriend got the beef brisket sandwich with fries on the side. The service and our waitress was great. We opted to sit by the door which did make our dining experience a little cold (our own fault). The beef brisket sandwich had great flavour as it was smothered barbeque sauce. The meat fell apart easily with every single bite. Would totally recommend this sandwich if you are heading there and I realized someone else's comment felt that the burger bun was soggy but we didn't find this to be the case. The pork belly sandwich was stacked high, hot and filling. The bun was perfectly toasted and yet soft. My only slight issue was that the meat wasn't very flavorful, especially compared to my boyfriends beef brisket sandwich which packed a punch of flavor. Their side Caesar salad was great and we also really enjoyed their fries which taste like Costco fries. Beer is a little on the pricey side but it seems they have a Happy Hour so maybe a good time to check out this place then and get some deals!

All good - head out and ask my husband to pick it up. While I shop for other things. After several minutes of confusion from the staff, he's finally handed an enormous wrapped parcel and charged $104. He's shocked but figures he better get it. Now I don't know if we could have returned it at this point, but when I saw Safeway only had a small, single breast (for $13.99) I figured I'd go with what appeared to be a very large double / full breast. Getting home I unwrap a bloody, netted roll of turkey that turns out to be one skin-on breast that has the meat partially separating from the skin, very unevenly and poorly removed from the bone, plus approximately 8 skinless breasts of various sizes. I'm already anxious enough about making a massive and complex meal and now I have an extremely expensive pile of basically crap as my centrepiece. Wonderful. Suggest if you buy from them do it in-store and watch what you're getting. I suspect they had a trainee and rolled their unsalable poorly cut breasts into a giant 'sucker' package for whoever phoned in a turkey order. I certainly won't support this business again, which pisses me off because I sure don't love supporting Galen and the other monopolies. Feeling incredibly ripped off and gullible for trusting which also sucks for us as a society. I was very clear in my order that I was expecting both sides of the breast with skin on (I asked twice) from a roughly 5-6 kilo turkey. Guess I'm just bitter as I lie awake stressing about presenting a hacked up small pile of turkey to my guests. Damn Tango's, you did me dirty.

I never knew this place was called HBC Gourmet Market, but I finally remembered to take note of it…read morethe next time I visited. It's a bakery and deli. This is the place where I usually buy cakes for the office. Their cakes are pre-made and placed in the displays for you to choose from. They make cakes throughout the day, but if you're unlucky they could be low on choices if you're there at the wrong time. If you have time, order ahead, but I don't usually have any problems with walk ins. The most recent cakes that I purchased were the Lemon Meringue and the Chocolate. Both cakes were sweet, light and fluffy. They were a hit in the office.

The HBC Gourmet Market is a little known great eatery in downtown Vancouver. It is located on the bottom floor of the Hudson's Bay Company (next to the Pacific Centre food court). It appears to be relatively unknown because Yelp doesn't know about it and so many people are always asking where I buy my lunch! Here you will find a very tasty selection of typical deli fare... The soups, salads, and sandwiches are their main selects but there is a whole lot more! My favourites are the Thai Chicken soup and the Chipotle Chicken Soup... usually ordered with a Greek salad. I am always so pleased with my lunch that I made this my very first review on Yelp!
