This is a great spot. The breakfast is on point, and the first proper British fry up I've had since moving her nearly 3 years ago - proper British beans & black/white pudding. Delicious! My girlfriend had the strawberry French toast which was also very tasty, a generous portion too! If you wanted a sweet option this is definitely one to go for. I got the grilled cheese with parm fries. It was really good! However the bread was a little too sweet for my liking. I loved the crispy onions on the sandwich. The parm fries were delicious and my favourite part of the meal. Overall I recommend this place, they have an interesting menu with something for everyone (including vegetarians). read more

I am so happy to see this little restaurant grow and secure this great spot. We loved going to their old location however it was a bit small. Now with any expansion there is going to be a learning curve for new staff, but the food is unbelievable and you won't be disappointed. We went and had the breakfast poutine and the French Toast, both were full of flavour, cooked to perfection and reminded me of my grandmothers cooking. Now I haven't been able to try out their Sunday Roast Dinner yet, but the owner told me she makes the Yorkshire pudding fresh that day, and toast is cooked to a nice juicy medium. Just the thought of it was makin my mouth water. They have their liquor license now and have many offerings every night of the week and we can't wait to return and enjoy that taste of home cooking. Went with friend and my spouse for lunch. One toilet for the customers was inconvenient. Ordered grilled cheese with pea meal and fries. The plate was dinner plate sized with half covered in over salted and soggy fries. Sandwich was a messy, greasy and the melted cheese was clotted. A cloth napkin wasn't enough to get the grease off my hands. I ended up eating the other half with a fork and knife. Won't be going back. read more

It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our breakfast on their patio, which had been temporarily extended per the rules. Plenty of bicycle riders stopped by for a meal as this restaurant is close to the lakefront trail. I ordered the Beny with Benefits served on Portobello mushrooms, very interesting and tasty alternative. Fries were seasoned to perfection. The wife loved her mushroom toast with a fig vinaigrette. Service was fast. A couple of their tent / umbrellas were not functioning on a sunny day, I am confident that was temporary. We would be visiting again for sure. read more

Great spot, friendly atmosphere and home cooked food. Simple food, delicious. Very busy be prepared to wait for a table. Staff wont seat you unless all guests are there. I ordered the Ulster breakfast, with soda bread, black pudding, sausages, back bacon, eggs and toast and beans. I was disappointed as the soda bread and beans were finished. I probably wouldn't have ordered the Ulster breakfast and gone for an alternative on the menu. However our server was apologetic and offered extra bacon and toast on the side. Fantastic place for brunch! They don't take reservations or seat you if your entire group isn't there but that makes sense. Somewhat small but that adds to its eclectic vibe. The service wasn't the best. It was hard to get the server's attention but the hostess was very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, regardless of what you ordered. Will most definitely return. This is a Lakeshore institution for yummy food! I've been for brunch and for their Sunday roast dinner. Both were amazing! Highly recommend for families, small groups and couples. The atmosphere is great. Servers are attentive without being overbearing. read more

Had 3 course roast dinner delivered for a birthday dinner during covid and (as usual) did not disappoint! The frozen pies you can bake at home are excellent- especially the cottage pie! I can't speak to what's in people's hearts or what they intended, but I can say that as a person of color , this really hurts my feelings. First let me start off by saying , I don't generally write reviews and am only writing today because I feel that if I can help others steer clear of the experience I've had , I want to. I came to kitchen on sixth after hearing about how the food was exceptional and after my daily yoga class , I was very excited to try out the new spot with friends. Upon arriving the wait was long but of course that is expected on a Sunday around noon at any popular spot . Me and my friends waited patiently and close to 40 min later we were seated at a table. For fifteen minutes the waiters had passed out table at least a dozen times and no one had given us a menu , or water , or cutlery. Finally I stopped a waitress and kindly asked if we could have some water and a menu and she then complied and gave it to us . Fifteen more minutes passed and me and my friends were dying to get a cup of coffee at least , even if it would be a while before we got to order. We stopped a waiter again, asked for some coffee and also asked if it was okay for us to order and Thankfully he said yes and took our order. About ten minutes later the coffee arrived at our table and I asked the waitress to please bring us some cream. She brought us some cream and walked off before we realized , since there is no cutlery at our table , we can't stir the coffee so we waited for another waitress to walk by and explained that we don't have spoons. She apologized and brought spoons. Just spoons. No knife or fork. Just spoons. Eventually our food arrived and one order was incorrect ,which of course happens sometimes and is understandable, however , it was kind of an odd error , as there was no English muffins on the eggs Benedict ordered. This was a small problem in comparison to the fact that the waitress gave us our food and left before we could ask for actual cutlery and maybe some serviettes. We waited as long as humanely possible before giving up and walking to the bar to ask for cutlery. The waitress handed my friend the cutlery but did not apologize which seemed a little rude. I ate my food. It was great food. The chefs did a fantastic job. But once I was done I found that I just wasn't happy. In fact , I was very frustrated and it took me some times to really understand why I felt that way. I think service staff have some of the toughest hours and jobs a person can have. I think it's so important to be kind to them especially on a Sunday they are dealing with sooo much . But for the whole two hours i had been here , I wasn't given water or cutlery or asked what I wanted to eat . My table was ignored and overlooked over and over and over. It seemed, however , that we were the only table in the place having this issue. Coincidentally or otherwise , we were also the only table with people of color being served. I can't speak to what's in people's hearts or what they intended, but I can say that as a person of color , this really hurts my feelings. When we asked for our bills , the waitress came up and said "you guys waited a little long for your meals so we covered your coffee". On any other day i probably would have thanked her but today this made me angry. Today I was disregarded and treated like I was invisible along with my friends. The space in this restaurant is about 25x10 ft. The waitresses walked by my table in the middle of the place in plain sight more times than I can count while we twiddled our fingers with no water or cutlery or a spoon to stir my coffee with. They did not stop to ask if we wanted water or even what we wanted to eat. We had to physically stop waiters in ten minute increments. As shallow as it might seem , it's disrespectful and belittling. So no , I don't want your free coffee. I don't want a free meal . I don't want any concessions for being treated like I'm not like everyone else who comes to the restaurant. I want you to make it a practice to treat people kindly and respectfully. read more

Giving Kitchen on Sixth one star because it's not possible to give less than one. And we didn't actually eat there, because we left before being served. Reason? The most unpleasant waitress I've ever encountered. The word that comes to mind is dour. Yep, "stern, unsmiling, unfriendly, frowning ...morose...grim, gloomy, dismal...". She came to our table to argue with me when I told the other server that I had not been advised that I had to wait to be seated until my friend arrived. Me, my friend and our 20% tip left our table and wandered down the street to Huevos Gourmet, where the welcome and service was exceptional! read more

Terrible service, we went into the restaurant twice (new location), thinking we would support a new business in the neighborhood and both times we waited almost 10 minutes by the door to be noticed (and seated). Moreover, the first time we were there, they had wrote "sorry we are out of eggs" on their chalk board which prompted us to ask, "why stay open". There are other alternatives in the neighborhood that provide better service. We won't be back a third time. read more
