True to the name of the establishment itself, Kitchen Italia prides itself of providing great Italian food coupled with one of the best location, right close to the entrance of the Westfield Mall, the biggest shopping mall in Europe. I've eaten here twice, first time was last Sunday and second time was just last night. What won me over was the huge space, excellent relaxed atmosphere and those pretty inviting benches. When you can combine comfort and class with excellent pasta and Italian wine, its a hands down win. Go here for a lazy weekend afternoon to appreciate it during the day but more importantly, dine at this place during the evening, when it's all cozy and romantic. If you can bring a date with you or have a date bring you there, I can almost guarantee that you're gonna find it as a new favorite. I may have gone there with a female friend, but hey, I was completely satisfied by what I ordered. I always start off with Focaccia & Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and ofcourse mix it with the Basmati vinegar. Really nice way to start things off. On a more important note, I've decided that my favorite from them would be the Tiger Prawns, Chilli & Garlic. It's Tagliolini coated in a light mushroom cream and parmesan sauce and then topped with black truffle. A few servings of chili oil and it's one of the B-E-S-T pasta meal's ever! Okay I'm exaggerating, make that one of the best pasta meal in Britain! This also went very well with my glass of Pinot Grigio delle Venezie. It could be their place looking so inviting and the staff who were so attentive and friendly or their open kitchen where you can just smell the wonderful aroma of all the food being cooked, or the fact that it is centrally located along the Upper South Terrace restaurants which is the perfect place to go after a productive day of shopping (or exhausting to some! haha), all of these makes me choose this place as a crowd-pleaser and a new favorite. Went to this place Friday night with the lady friend, I loved it. You come to the entrance it isn't much, you see a podium with the menu on. You can look through the window and see others eating, chatting and generally looking happy. I fancied spaghetti; the Girlfriend was "whatever you want, you are paying." So I ended up choosing this, after walking up and down for a good ten minutes (I am picky, don't judge me). I never regretted choosing this place, we walked in, we were greeted by a man standing at the front desk, but maybe not the best hiya I've heard, it was as if we interrupted him. We were taken to our seat, but I decided to ask him to move us to the table that wasn't packed and was near the kitchen. He gave us the menu and we were allowed to order. I had spaghetti and meatballs with starters and wait for it ... Hand made fried, this instantly made me a fan, no where makes hand made chips anymore, but wow! AMAZING! The food was perfect, I was so stuffed by the end. It was a bit pricey for two meals, of two course. But that in mind, it didn't put the quality of this food down, I'd be shocked if it did to be honest, but you know how some places are. The service: they came round asking is everything okay and such, but when you wanted to make an order, they were no where to be seen, I had to wait for a women to stand still at the till to call her over. A wide variety of Italian pasta is served, but strangely no other type of main course is offered, not even pizzas. The style of the place is very much like Wagamamas, sitting at long tables and good for having a simple dinner with friends. Price-wise it is slightly on the pricey side, unless you use one of their 2for1 vouchers from their website! I had the prawn and chili pasta which was very well done. The food was tasty, but the prices were ridiculous for the measly portions you got, the service was perfunctory and the staff were in no hurry to serve you, bring your food or even present your bill. During a lackadaisical lunchtime, this is rather unacceptable. The black truffle pasta (costing £8) consisted of a measly portion of pasta, and three slivers of truffle. The tortellioni dish (costing £8) only provided 4 pieces. You only got 4 bread sticks for your £4. We asked for the "unlimited" filtered water and got an expensive water bottle (costing £3) instead. Meh. Far too large a price for far too small a portion. Service was barely there - you had to wave someone down just to get them to stop by and take and order 10 mins after being sat. The taste was decent (mine had too strong a hand with the basil and black truffles), but overall not a bad palatte. read more

Really lovely place. We visited Westfield for the first time today and after wandering along the selection of restaurants on the southern terrace, decided on Kitchen Italia. The layout is reminiscent of Wagamama - long bench tables (complete with the handy bag hooks underneath). The service was pretty speedy, and the food was excellent. The waitress explained that since everything was prepared fresh, dishes might arrive at different times - that was just fine with us. I had the sea bass and rocket pasta with a side of poached prawns - very nice, light but just filling enough for a lunch stop during a shopping trip. I thought the price was pretty decent as well. I was surprised to find that this is currently the only Kitchen Italia - hope they are able to branch out soon! read more

A brilliant find if you're shopping in Westfield. We loved the quick service and delicious food. I had spaghetti and meatballs and my partner had gnocchi and both were as good as you would eat in Italy. We also shared a char grilled pizza dough with steak and cheese - absolutely delicious but probably shouldn't have eaten it aswell as had to roll myself out of restaurant! Staff were really friendly and helpful and I loved all the extra touches like the mini ice cream with coffee. Highly recommend to anyone! read more

Pre-cinema dinner at Kitchen Italia this evening... Wow. Can I give a joint a more firm 3 stars? Probably not. Kitchen Italia did have a nice welcoming outdoors-indoors feel, with very large tables that made you feel like you were part of the familia, but all in all, it's just got that same tired corporate look that every other Pizza Express / Prezzo / Ask has. Menu had a little less than attention grabbing foods, so I settled for the Tiger Prawns with Chili and Garlic. Now having arrived from the states, I figured I knew what kind of "Tiger Prawns" I was going to get in London, because regular sized prawns in London = Tiger Prawns in the US... Wrong. The prawns were about the size that I would have expected from a medium sized place. They were cooked well, but they were definitely pre-frozen and lacked the fresh prawn saute crunch. Sauce was mediocre, not spicy enough, and the pasta tended toward the overdone side and if not a little "clumpy". I'd dare say though, the best part of the meal was being able to douse my food in Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and a selection of 6 different olive oil infusions. Now, if only I had a side order of bread and balsamic vinegar. Will I come back? Probably, I might give this place a go to try to redeem itself, but otherwise, meh, there are enough similar restaurants in Westfield that I might as well just go to Pizza Express on a 2 for 1 and just save myself the hassle of trying again. read more

I am finding it rather difficult to avoid Westfield now that it has finally opened. And I've just had my second meal at this Italian restaurant. I am sure this will grow into a chain at some point. The concept is the same as Wagamama, only with Italian pasta dishes rather than Asian food. The decor is simple with long benches on long tables; fresh basil plants, grate-yourself parmesan and a selection of olive oils add a nice touch. Each dish is served on a different plate, wine comes in two sizes of caraffe and you can drink as much filtered water as you like for a fixed price. I think this may catch on! The open ravioli with wild mushrooms of my first visit were delicious. The second time round I opted for pumpkin gnocchi which caused food envy from my friend (the duck filled ravioli were OK, but not quite as nice). We had a selection of side dishes, including the delicious parmesan-covered courgettes and one of the pizza-type breads. Coffee was served with chrystalised sugar on a stick and - what a wonderful surprise - bite sized pieces of ice cream. For about £15 we had a very satisfying meal. Unfortunately, we experienced the change of a shift which slowed down service - they work very hard on a busy lunchtime! read more

My friends and I used to frequent this place because of the good portion sizes and the pine nut orecchiette dish which was a favorite. However, at some point in the last few months, they have: (1) raised their prices (2) lowered their portions (3) changed the menu offerings, including the removal our favorite dish (4) changed the recipes of some existing dishes, including the arrabiata which now has a sauce that looks like it comes from a can The service at this place was never anything to write a poem about and now its more like a cattle call, where you have to wave down someone to order, pay etc The last time I went, I tried the pesto pasta which was so oily I felt sick during the remainder of the afternoon. So, needless to say, I will not be back. Plenty of other places to eat in Westfield, including Jamie's Italian which is just a few steps away and the same price point for way better quality food. read more

My partner and I had dinner at Kitchen Italia because we could use our Tastecard and get 2-for-1 on food. Without the promotion, the price is very high for the mediocre quality of food. I ordered the Tagliatelle with Mushrooms and Asparagus, which sounded very appealing on the menu. To my disappointment, there was hardly any mushroom or asparagus in my pasta! They might as well just name the dish Tagliatelle with Nothing! When the waiter came over to ask if our food was ok, he shot off before I could give him my comment. Sick from drink seems to be a running theme in my reviews and I probably come off as a dreadful lush but I'm really not - I promise..... Yes I was once again atoning for my sins and not feeling so bright eyed and bushy tailed but I came to London to shop and this was the designated shopping day but first some pasta to keep me alive ! Cut to Kitchen Italia - I'm digging the look of this place from the get go - I feel like I'm somewhere warmer than London the moment i step inside :-) The plates of pasta being whizzed past me look so damn good, drools. I ordered the mac and cheese with bacon, I'm not messing around here people Mama needs grease and salt NOW. The service sucked, why us it in this town I'm always made to feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff whenever I order ? That should say "trying to order" btw.
