This review is for the cooking class not the store. I booked for the dim sum cooking class which included pork bao buns, crab Rangoon and porcupine meatballs. I was extremely disappointed we didn't actually cook anything. Everyone was very nice but my expectations for a $100 + cooking class per person were not met considering we didn't cook anything. I was handed a packet with all the recipes for the food we were "making". The first recipe was the crab rangoon except all we did was stuff the wonton wrappers and actually put it together. Same with the bao buns. At no point were the porcupine meatballs even a thing. They were made prior, mentioned, and put on our plates. Everything was made in advance. So I paid to fill wonton wrappers and get printed out recipes I could find online. Also, we weren't even going to get to stuff the bao buns. They were going to have a group of people do each thing - 1 to stuff the buns and the other crab Rangoon except I said I wanted to do the buns too so everyone got to do a couple. Honestly the food was bland except for the bao buns. I won't be using their recipes. Truely disappointed and feel like I was swindled out of money. They should be more forthcoming about what this "cooking class" entails. It's not actually cooking. read more

We arrived at the pasta class on time- at 4:30. The instructor, Andre had already began making the pasta sauces. He acted like we were a burden to join the class and grumbled about making more dough. I was assuming we were making the dough using the egg circle method. He simply through things in a food processor. The ravolis were advertised as cheese (it is a kids class) but the instructor had premade a mushroom filling. Basically we paid $110 to have a demo of a food processor and a pasta maker, not actual recipes. My daughter didn't like mushrooms so we even had to stop for dinner after. Looking for kitchen stuff for your home. There is a good chance they have it. My son and I stopped here to look for some heat resistant gloves as we wanted to try to make some Candy canes. They had gloves and we even were able to get some flavored oils and food color at a good price for the candy. They have a lot of fun cooking items you won't find in a grocery store or department store. The staff was also helpful. read more

It was our FIRST TIME taking a cooking class together and so glad we did! Chef Maddie and Chef Andre were both wonderful... APPRECIATION: We definitely appreciate the pizza and pasta that we go out to eat so often so much more! It does take a lot of work to make pizza and it was very difficult to make Ravioli! RAVIOLI: I must have tried 6 times by the time I got it to look like a ravioli!!!!!!! I realized that I was the last person to leave!!!!!!!!!!! My husband and I booked a cooking class online thinking we'd be making all of the dishes listed and hoping we'd do an okay job. We booked the Provençal Nights: Classic Dishes with French Flair class for a Sunday afternoon. When we first walked in, we were warmly greeted and got a packet with all the recipes and ingredients listed out for each dish. We were also told to take a seat around the kitchen, and we were surprised to see that we wouldn't be doing the cooking but instead would be watching and learning from Chef Robert. We started right on time and enjoyed watching, learning, and asking a few questions as Chef Robert explained each step. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient in the kitchen. We were fed different plates as we moved through the class, and it was helpful that we could take notes on the specific flairs or preferences Chef Robert had for each dish as he went through them. I would strongly recommend taking one of his classes. The food was also very delicious, with lots of different flavors that weren't too overpowering. They also included a 10% off discount after the class, and we ended up getting a nice pan to take home. If you're looking to take a cooking class, please note the different between the demo classes and the interactive classes. We did a demo class, where we basically watched, asked questions, and ate what the chef made. Interactive classes are the ones where you do it yourself from what they explained. We're definitely looking forward to checking out an interactive class in the near future! read more

Came in looking for a food processor replacement. They did not have any currentlyin stock. We found so many fun things that jolted our imaginations. Oh man, you could go nuts in this place. We bought some pizza tins and some candy flavorings for making gummies that our grandkids love. The customer service here was good. I appreciated that the woman who worked here was familiar with the products in the store. Most of the time these places are super expensive, but this place was decent. I heard this was a good place to have knives sharpened. I sent my daughter in with some of our very old knives and a pair of scissors. It took about 15-20 minutes to have three knives and a pair of scissors done. When my daughter came back, I heard her say "Wow!" Andre did a phenomenal job getting very old, and dull knives sharper than they've ever been. Andre was also informative and helpful with choosing good cake pans. Would definitely go back! read more

This is a unique, established small business that probably has the most comprehensive selection of kitchen items in the valley. Forget the big stores, shop small here to get any kitchen tool or gadget you need. They have good quality merchandise along with economical options. Spatula? They probably have over a dozen in every material and price. During the shutdown in 2020 they supplied customers with good quality yeast and fresh flour of many kinds when the stores were all out. Way to support the community when we needed it! Though I've only shopped there, they also offer services like knife sharpening and cooking classes. The staff is nice and helpful. The store is in an easy to find, convenient location by the entrance to the center. I'm a foodie who loves to cook and use a plethora of kitchen gadgets, so of course I love going there. I had a terrible experience with this company. I made a mistake...An easy one to help solve if you care about your customer. I bought a Sushi class for 3 people, almost $300... I made a mistake, I came the wrong night with my family/group. Class was Wednesday, I thought it was Thursday. (Bought the ticket late Tuesday night. They told me I'm a no-show and they don't make exceptions for no-shows. Kept repeating the 48 hr cancelation policy. They were unwilling to reschedule us for another class, meet half way, nothing.. I had my Spyderco Para 3 sharpened for the first time here at Kitchen Fantasy. Although the blade was sharpened I was disappointed to find that some of the paint had been noticeably scratched on both sides of the blade (powder coated finish). The blade edge had been sharpened down closer to the knife's choil when compared to the prior factory edge, and in so doing the choil was visibly scratched. Not the end of the world but none the less disappointing that my otherwise unblemished blade is now scratched. read more

5 stars for the cooking class and Chef Mary-wonderful experience and a lot of fun. We learned so much not only about the items we made, but about cooking in general. Chef Mary gave a ton of insights. Chef Andre was also super helpful. We had leftovers! I wish I knew that before hand and brought tupperware (like others did in the class) :). The price for the class is worth it, and they give you a 10% discount on most items if you buy the same day as your class. They have a ton of inventory and I bought $70 worth of items (things we used during class), even though their prices are higher than what you can get on Amazon, Home Goods. I feel strongly about supporting local businesses, and they do price match but I didn't ask for that at the time. I would definitely take another class. I would hire Mary to do a private event at my home-she is that good:) Taking away a star for customer service. The big takeaway is their zero tolerance for last minute emergency cancellations. We paid for 3 attendees and the morning of the class my child had a sports injury and had to go to the ER for xrays; so 2 of us took the class. The clerk told me to call back during the week and speak with the manager to see what could be done about the unused class that I paid for. I called a few days later, explained what happened to the manager and I did not ask for a refund. All I asked was if the amount could be applied for store credit or towards another class; I was told no. Even after I offered to show the ER receipt--the answer was still no. Even after I said that I bought $70 of items and didn't ask for a price match--he said no. Unfortunate but now I know. I won't buy items from them again. read more

WORST KNIFE SHARPENING EVER! I am pro chef, new to this area, have lived all over the US and have gotten my chef knives sharpened at many places. I brought them about 8 knives, and while the price and timing were reasonable, it was clear when I got home and started using them that they were actually DULLER than when I brought them in - I nearly cut myself - a knife bounced off a tomato that same evening. Unacceptable. Honing is not enough to improve this, so I have to find someplace else. They seem to have a nice selection of cooking supplies, but I will never bring my knives to them again. read more

If I can't find an item at other stores, I've been able to find it here. Place is small but they packed ALOT into that small area. I love that they don't just have one of something. Looking for a whisk, they have a selection. Looking for wood spoons, there's an assortment. Looking for frying pans or pots, there's an assortment. Prices also range from high to low so they have items for any budget. Space is clean and well organized. It has to be for them to get everything into that room. Enrolled my son in a kids cooking class 5 weeks in advance. It was a Christmas present. Asked if they had a mommy and kids cooking class they stated no put a recommendation that they should make one I know plenty of parents that would love that. Came for class and guess what they did the class was turned into a mommy and me cooking class with no notification was MY recommendation and yet I didn't get to join my son. Then I am disabled and "there is no chair" for sitting but I could purchase a chair. So disappointed what a let down!!!! Will not be back! read more

Great items in the store! Huge inventory. Took a cooking class though with my dad for tamales and it was a great hands on experience, but, there were sooo many tamales leftover and the chef kept them for herself. We all made so many and she said we would all get to take at least 3-4 home, but then she didn't give anyone any tamales. Strange experience and won't go back for a cooking class because I feel since we all paid for the ingredients with our cooking fee, we all should have gone home with something since she told us at the beginning of the class. The food was great that was made in the cooking class. We enjoyed it. We just won't do another class again. The store was amazing! Will definitely be back to shop! read more

Went to this speciality store looking for a Julianne slicer. Got one and made sure to ask for store policy. Well I had to return it and got a mouth full from the cashier. Every review I read the night before is correct. Kitchen Fantasy has an enormous amount of inventory that cannot be found anywhere else in the area that's sold in major stores, malls, shops. I was very disappointed with the quality and craftsmanship that was used on my axe. There are areas that are "gouged" along the edge due to the unevenness of what ever they used to sharpen the axe with. It looks like an amateur used a HAND Grinder on my axe to practice his skills on! The price for sharpening a blade was $10 but the attendant quoted me $15 off the top of her head. I didn't argue because I thought the finish was going to be superb. I was wrong... I used the axe at the campground and it couldn't split the wood! I had to use my Tom Brown Tracker knife to "baton" the wood and split it. No problems whatsoever using my knife. I'm sure they can sharpen a knife but definitely do not know how to sharpen an Axe, and if they did well, it's obvious they do mediocre work. I will continue to search for a business that will sharpen my Axe and I will be sure to post photos showing the difference in workmanship and quality. read more

Temecula is really fortunate to have this little gem of a store. They are in a new location (just a few doors down from their old spot, but still in the Target shopping center on Rancho Cal x Ynez.) Their new location has a beautiful demo kitchen area where they offer their cooking classes. Every time I need some odd gadget, they have it. Their in-stock list is huge. They have upscale brands, hard-to-find European and Japanese brands, and plain old durable all-American brands. Also, they sharpen knives and scissors. You do need to leave them and come back to pick up later, but there are few places now that do them while you wait. I used to drive my knives down to Sur la Table in Carlsbad for sharpening before I discovered that Kitchen Fantasy does such a great job. They also sell an impressive selection of knives. I liked that when I needed a new paring knife, the clerk discussed pros and cons of various brands with me at length and didn't automatically steer me to the priciest one or make me feel bad when I picked a middle-of-the-price-range brand . This shopping center is doing poorly overall with a lot of vacancies. Hopefully locals will continue to patronize small specialty stores like this one to keep the little guys in business. read more
