I came here wanting to support a Black-owned business and left completely disappointed. We were craving soul food and chose this spot specifically because it was Black-owned -- we passed up other options for that reason. Worst decision we could've made. The service was absolutely horrible. I don't know who the young lady was working the front, but she had the worst attitude I've experienced in a long time -- and yes, she was even rude to my elderly grandmother. No hospitality, no manners, no effort. Just pure rudeness from the second we walked in. The food didn't even get a fair chance, because by the time we sat down, the bad taste in my mouth had nothing to do with what was on the plate. It's sad to say, but this is exactly the kind of experience that gives Black-owned businesses a bad name. We want to support our own -- but not at the expense of basic customer service and respect. If this is your first time trying soul food, PLEASE go somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

since I stopped cooking for the holidays, particularly christmas and thanksgiving, I am so glad I am still able to find some chicken and dressing in a small portion and it is the best that I have ever tasted. The server in the drive-thru window had the worst attitude with a bonnet on. Poor presentation for a food establishment. Moreover, It took 20 minutes to get service with one car in front of me then she took my order with no eye contact or verification of order taken and poor verbal skills. If your not paying attention you will totally over look this hidden gem. Only the drive thru was open, and if it wasn't for the long line I would have driven right past the place. I had the fried chicken, with macaroni and cheese, and dressing with gravy. The chicken was perfectly fried and very juicy, the Mac needed a little seasoning but still a nice consistency of cheeses, the dressing was moist and flavorful. My girlfriend had the catfish dinner, it was fresh and not fishy. For her sides she had the candied yams, and broccoli casserole, which both were delicious as well. Amazing soul food made fresh every day at the restaurant. I've lived in Little Rock for three years and this is the best soul food I've had by a long shot. Their fried catfish is juicy and perfectly battered, the fried chicken is tender and has awesome flavor, greens are a delicious side, Mac and Cheese is worth getting. New to the city was told this place had good food. Came in with my husband on a Monday evening 620ish ordered a ring plate as well as a fish place . The cook was so busy talking to the staff and the music was loud with vulgar language and even though she said they were preparing to close they still served us. So we were very gracious. As we told her what our sides were and went to fill out drinks at the drink station. My husband came back paid her. Left a nice trip so that she wouldn't have to mess up her cash register. We left went to out hotel. Sat down and open out take out plates she didn't put his ribs on. So we called no answer left a message on the machine. No call back. Called later the next day. The lady" Shay" stated it was nothing she could do because her doors didn't close until 7. We just really wished that she'd of been a little more hospitable and friendlier. I've never been to their location nor have I seen the menu or tried anything else, but the smoked turkey was delicious. I ate eggs with cheese, potatoes, bacon and a biscuit. The eggs and bacon were good. The potatoes lacked flavor and the biscuits lacked that homemade taste. Tastes like it came out of a box. I waited a while to come back because the last time I bought lunch. And the mac and cheese had sour cream that was so tangy it took from the flavor of the dish. The food was a little over priced. I felt like I paid a dollar more than anything should have. I graded it a 3 star just because the food was decent. This place is best for take out. The building looks nice on the outside. The ambiance on the inside is not nasty, but lacks that family feel. Doesn't feel inviting at all. It will be a while if I ever there eat here again. Several weeks ago I was double charged a meal, I didn't notice it until I got home! I immediately called the restaurant and talked to the manager on duty her name was Brianna. She told me I could come back and get a refund that day or come back at a later date and receive a "free meal!" Coming back that day was not an option, so I chose to come back @ a later date to receive the meal that wasn't at all free if I've already paid for it previously!!! She asked me my name & I pleaded with her to write it down, her exact words were "I'll remember you." I asked her if "Jackie" (one of the owners) could handle it & she told me " just ask for Brianna!" Fast forward about four weeks which was the next time I was remotely close to Kitchen Express I asked Jackie for Brianna & explain to her my situation. I recently went and ordered 4 meals to go after getting back to the hospital to share the meals with my family i discovered the food they severed us not fit to eat. We ordered 2 pork chop dinners & 2 chicken dinners. All the dinners had greens & blackeye peas. The were can greens with no meat or season and the peas was hard like were never fully cooked and unseasoned as well My cousin and i returned the food only to given a very bad time about returning it. Mind you i just spent 52 dollars and some change. We then asked to speak with the manager and the common worker (server/clerk) starts going threw threw the returned food making many excuses trying not to refund my money. At the end of the day i was only refunded $14.45 on a gift card crazy i know. I paid with my atm card. What on God's green earth am i going to do with a gift card there when i live in California.
