My partner and I were traveling to Quad Cities on a little day trip. We came across Pee Wee's on Yelp and decided we should give it a try. One of the greatest decisions we've ever made. A cute little corner establishment, the owner, Big Will, was behind the counter taking orders. We got the 2 piece white meat chicken, cornbread, greens, mac & cheese, candied yams, red beans & rice, peach cobbler, and a slice of sweet potato pie. All of this totaled ~ $40 and was a perfect filling meal for 2 people. While we waited, Big Will chatted us up. He started Pee Wee's 8 years ago, made it through the challenges of a pandemic, and now runs the restaurant as a takeout only place. Need somewhere to sit? Take Big Will's recommendation (with excellent analog directions provided) and eat alongside the river just a few minutes down the road. With some of the most breathtaking views of the Mississippi in front of us, my partner and I sat in our car and dug into the most insanely good meal. The chicken was so juicy and beautifully seasoned. The yams were like all the flavors of fall in a cup. The greens were indescribably good. The red beans & rice was excellent.
