The 'usual' restaurants had people waiting out front already at 5 o'clock, so we kept walking up to 527...very glad that we did. We were seated immediately, and at first it seemed a little dark inside but once our eyes got used to it, it was a nice change from the intense heat and sun. I had the libation of the day, blueberry watermelon sangria and it was delicious. (They have a lot of great cocktails on their drink menu by the way.) Five of us dined, and we were all extremely satisfied with our meals. Blackened grouper, the mac & cheese with sausage & chicken in a white cheddar sauce, kids corndogs, burger w/ bacon onion jam & provolone w/ rosemary fries, the calamari appetizer (w/ a big piece of crusty baguette), and portobello bites. Had an amazing dinner and an enjoyable experience. Started with an excellent Sazerac cocktail. Hubby ordered the calamari and I had the gnocci off the bar eats menu. The calamari was served in a delicious broth with crusty bread. Cooked perfectly. The gnocci was a bit heavy and served in a rich blue cheese sauce that made up for it. We both ordered spicy, and got what we asked for. The star of the evening was the pecan encrusted walleye with a butternut squash couscous. The walleye was perfectly prepared with a beautiful light sear with spot on seasoning. Can't begin to do justice to the couscous. It was creamy large pearl couscous with sautéed cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. A wonderful slight sweetness and bite size chunks of butternut squash. Truly outstanding. Service was prompt without being rushed and friendly. It's a very casual, small bistro but they seemed to be accommodating several larger groups quite well. Waited a little over an hour for a table of 6. But, it was worth the wait. Finally sat down at a table for 8, so we had lots of room. Was facing the chefs. Ordered a shorts local light (lots of Michigan beers on tap). We started with cheese curds and they were fantastic. I ordered the build your own burger per the servers recommendation and she was dead on, the burger was perfectly cooked and tasty. My wife had the gnocchi and Mac and cheese. My wife's gnocchi was fairly saucy/liquidy cheese, but good. Others at the table also had gnocchi but it was 5x hotter, strange... mother in law had grouper and said it was extremely spicy, but good. The coffee rubbed flank steak was also ordered at the table and they said it was good, but not the best they've ever had... truly enjoyed my meal and would recommend coming here when your in SoHa, but be prepared to wait on a Saturday! read more

We got sat and our waitress didn't bother walking up to us and introducing herself or giving us at least waters (we had just got done walking around town on a hot day). Fortunately, we flagged down another waitress after 30 minutes of waiting and she was more than helpful. Our original waitress ended up doing the same thing to TWO MORE TABLES (they walked out). Don't know why I went again other than few options after July 4th Parade. Long wait. Burger with Gluten Free - don't do it. I called and ordered take out one night a few weeks ago in the food was pretty darn good. However I fast forward to today and I tried to call in an order where I was greeted with a please hold for about 10 minutes and then after waiting 10 minutes I was told that it would be over an hour for a take-out order. Food was good but they had to scramble to work with my gluten issues. Salad bar looked dismal. Hubby looked at it and did not recommend it. Went with sweet potato patties. This place was on my list of places to check out while in South Haven on vacation. We had the opportunity on a Tuesday in early August. Stopped in for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised that they could seat my party of 7 within a few minutes of our arrival. Hostess was friendly and helpful, and Stefanie our waitress was great. As mentioned in other reviews, they have some good vegetarian options, and the rosemary fries are delicious. Highly recommend the basket of fries, you won't regret it. The menu has an interesting mix of items from Quinoa burger to Southern Grilled Cheese. I chose the Sinatra Burger - 'my way'. $9.00 You chose the toppings. What they don't tell you on the menu - what the toppings are, and that they are $1.50 EACH! Be careful before loading up that burger- at $1.50 per item, it adds up quickly. Onions - $1.50, Cheese - $1.50, Avocado - $1.50. You get the idea. The burger was delicious and juicy. They know how to make a good burger. If you decide that you are in the mood for a salad, your only option is the salad bar. There are no salads on the menu. Do yourself a favor, and check out the salad bar for yourself prior to ordering. While the list of salad bar items on the menu looks interesting, the actual salad bar seems lacking. In my opinion, they should give up on the salad bar idea, and add a few creative salad options to the menu. Based on the creativity of the rest of the items on the menu, I am sure they have the talent to create a killer salad. The salad bar is a half hearted attempt at offering a green option. This is probably my new favorite restaurant in South Haven and I highly recommend this to anyone that is in town. First, they were packed but were quick to open a table for us. The service was excellent which was a shock because this place was absolutely jammed. I do not know the waitress's name (shame on me) but she was so energetic and accommodating. The food is what really wins this joint a special place in my heart. We started with the cheese curds and they were perfect- not too greasy. My guest ordered the chicken wings and, wow, do they give you a good portion of chicken wings. Although I do not eat meat, I thought they looked like some pretty high quality wings. Also, the blue cheese dressing is homemade- yum!! For my meal, I felt like treating myself with some mac and cheese. I rarely eat mac and cheese because I view it as comfort food only, but, man, I am glad I did not pass on the mac here. I loved the bread crumbs and the creaminess. I have been here ever several times this year. I think the menu is interesting. I have tried the chicken vesuvio and was not impressed. Hastily put together. Not horrible, but not very good. The burgers are really good. The bacon, onion jam is amazing. The grouper sandwich was very tasty, but too much bread and sauce. Taking in to account that this is the "tourist season" I think they are trying, very hard. I will keep checking in and hope they will keep trying to do better. Can not speak to the rest of the menu but I ordered a grill cheese and tomato soup and I didn't know it was possible to mess up a meal that simple so bad. Soup tasted like old marinara sauce mixed with water and the grill cheese tasted like the owner went out of his way to find the cheapest possible ingredients he could find. I don't mind eating cheap food but a hot dog stand quality tomato soup and grill cheese shouldn't cost $19. Wait staff was perfectly pleasant and nice zero complaints there. read more

Had a table for four last night at this new restaurant in South Haven. Do not take reservations. Ordered drinks from the waiter, who was in a very bad mood. Told us he was a grouch because he "had to serve people". Yikes!! Cocktails were well made and tasty. Appetizers were served in a timely way. Recommend deviled eggs which are more like scotch eggs. Cannot recommend the calamari. Brought the entrees. Blackened snapper was so hard as to be uncuttable. Sent it back and then came out blackened but raw. Scallops were ordered by two people and came out with different sauces. Manager apologized and comped the meals but it was not a good experience. Need some practice meals to train staff better and for cooks to learn to cook. read more
