Latte in a "for here" mug
Denise T.

If you are at the Alderwood Mall and don't want burnt tasting coffee from a "big Seattle chain company", come here! Was pleasantly surprised by this Brazilian coffee shop. Ordered an almond milk vanilla latte- delicious! My friend got their Cuban coffee, she said it was very tasty.

Right across from the AMC Theater, Kitanda offers fresh cheesebread sandwiches and delicious acai bowls. Their cappuccino coffee is excellent too and comes standard with whole milk - hurray! Yelp pins this Kitanda location to the main street of the mall. That's incorrect. In the early morning it takes quite a detour on foot to reach it from the mall itself because the food court area is closed to the public and Kitanda isn't even listed in the mall directory. Mall employees were clueless while Kitanda staff had no idea how hard it was to pinpoint the location. After that, I couldn't even add my purchase to their app because I mistakenly used my credit card instead of Apple Pay. Yes, this is a rant but at least you know not to do what I did :) Plenty of seating, airy open feel and bright, fun decor make this my favorite Kitanda in the area right at my first visit. The staff is very friendly and upbeat. Two thumbs up!

Stopped by here one late evening during a shopping trip. This shop is located just outside the cafeteria area which could possibly generate less foot traffic. We were hungry for a quick bite so decided to buy a brownie which would make our 4 year old happy. I decided to try the Brazilian Latte. The latte was super good and the brownie was tasty and the order was ready quickly. There are quite a lot of Brazilian food items and candies, which I would try next time. Prices are reasonable.

First time in and it was an awesome experience. Clean establishment, tidy display cases, friendly and prompt service, and delicious food! The brownie was so tasty I almost forgot a picture, the sandwich was a delight with the chewy bread texture and fresh spinach, and the mocha was great with very smooth espresso! The only reason I didn't give it a perfect five star is because the mocha wasn't all the was stirred/mixed and for me it could have used a bit more chocolate (but I'm a chocoholic ) I highly recommend this place for a coffee, snack, or sweet... they even have a cold case for you to take home your own bags of Kitanda!

Baristas take forever to acknowledge you even if you're the only one in line. I wouldn't recommend and I will never come back.

Pretty cool find if you are ever in the neighborhood!…read more Mountlake Terrace is not a place I frequently visit, but I did because of the convenience with the light rail - it's about a 9-minute walk from the light rail station. The interior has a warm and cozy vibe; I also dig the lighting. There's a good amount and variety of seating. They don't have outlets on the floor at the benches in the center, but there are a few outlets on the walls, so if you need to charge your devices I recommend sitting at the chairs next to the treasure chest (where I'm writing this review lol). Space seems very dog friendly, and there are 2 tables outside where the fur baby pawrents would typically sit with their fur babies. I also saw dog treats at the cashier that dog owners are free to take. I guess if you wanted to eat them you could, but I would judge you. For my drink, I got the Woodsman - opted for iced, large size, and whole milk. The drink was very chai spice-forward, which I loved. The staff member who took my order asked for my name, and later on when I went up to inquire the WiFi password, he addressed me by name - impressive. The owner (?), Heather, also thanked me for coming here after I picked up my drink. Needless to say, super friendly people. I didn't get a pastry or sandwich, but that's the goal for my next visit!

They have pretty typical Korean bakery fare and pricing seems to be just a bit higher than competitors, probably somewhere around a 10% premium compared to similar family owned bakeries. On my visit I got two pastries to try: Soboro Cream ($3.49) - Instead of a delicately crackly cookie crust, this bun has a much softer, almost moist topping, which may be due to them placing the bread in the packaging before being fully cooled off, allowing the bun to steam too much. There's a bunch of sweetened stabilized cream inside that's sweet and oily. The bread itself is kind of dry and crumbly, either not a typical milk bread recipe or perhaps it had been sitting on the shelf for too long. (2/5) Corn Mochi ($5.99) - This comes with six pieces. The corn mochi has a nice chewy tapioca flour base. There's black sesame sprinkled throughout giving a burst of nutty flavor. I expected to see whole corn kernels baked inside but I think they just use corn flour in the dough. It's way less sweet than the soboro. Texturewise, the inside is bouncy while the outside has a harder baked crust. (4/5) Overall Le Bon Patisserie is a pretty average Asian grocery store-paired bakery. It's more of a place to buy bread for convenience rather than anything special, but it does the job decently well.

I am always intensely disappointed with myself for not remembering how much it sucks, especially with 85 Degrees bakery just down the block. My latest foray led me to two loaves of milk bread for $11!!!! WTF? First of all, the two loaves look absolutely different... one is a square, and the other one is more like the milk bread shape. The lady behind the counter assured me they are the same. Spoiler alert: they are not, but they are equally awful. For those of you who knows REAL Japanese milk bread, it is like magic. I f***in' love milk bread... and while I don't use drugs, I imagine the euphoria I feel when I bite into milk bread is similar to a drug high. La Bon's milk bread is literally the worst white bread I have EVER tasted. It's worst than any grocery store brand and tastes like paper mache, wait, no.... I ate paper mache as a kid and this is far far worse. The pure and utter sadness I feel every time I put a piece of that shitty white cardboard into my mouth is worthy of a country western song. And everything else from that place tastes like cardboard. DO NOT GO. Or if you do, just be forewarned.... godspeed.

I have visited for takeout, dined onsite solo, or with others. It was really nice to receive a generous gift card from other family members. Interior pretty much has stayed the same, with some addition of merch, and plushies on a front bench by the entrance. Your attention will be drawn to their pastry case. Pro tip: make sure to show up in the morning for better selection for both sweet and savory items. Their pastries are baked fresh onsite, but I've made the mistake of showing up midday and towards closing and their pastry case would be slim pickings. They also have a great variety of beverages available too. Espresso, teas, and milk teas as examples. The mocha has improved, very coffee forward and not cloyingly sweet. Just needs to be hotter temp wise, but that's just me. My favorite go tos has been variable depending on availability, but recent visits have been their ham and cheese croissants. I greatly appreciate the offer to have it warmed up if dining onsite. It's just a strange pairing to place such tasty pastries on a paper plate and then provided flatware, knife & fork or just a fork. I appreciate that this indie bakeshop & cafe has been going strong and steady since 2016, so coming up on a decade! Flying under the radar, but iykyk this is a popular destination. An added star and definitely recommended whether for takeout or enjoyed onsite!
