After reading the reviews and comments about this place... I walked into a big surprise. I felt like I was blind folded. The place is very unorganized, and messy. The owner/worker didn't say hi, just told me where the menu was. I could feel the energy in the air, I wanted to walk out but I didn't want to be rude so I wanted to give this place a try. As I decided what I wanted, I was making eye contact with the person. (As they were making food) Then he would look away. Then he said "I'm just waiting on you" shacking his head. Like he was stressed out or upset. Then he said "we're not nice here". I didn't know how to take it as. I was confused so I ordered right ahead. Big foodie & I saw this place on DoorDash! I called and asked the soups of the day, he recommended the ham. It has a great broth and nice bits of ham throughout. Overall a good ham soup! The chicken lunch bento I got, yummy! Moist juicy chicken with lots of flavor, the only strange thing is the carrots...I think they should peel them. Smoothies were yummy! We tried two basic flavors, (Bugs Bunny & Tropical) I'm not a fan of veggies in my smoothies. Even though they had carrot juice, couldn't taste it. Nice sweetness and the banana gives it a great texture. Only thing that I REALLY didn't like which made me take a star off, was the packaging everything was in (pictured). So it came in this old dirty Amazon box...with nuts and screws on the bottom. Smelled like an old mans tool box! Made me question cleanliness of location...I'm all for using recycled boxes to save on plastic bags but make sure they're clean boxes? Was looking for a local juice bar when Alive popped up and I'm so glad it did! I got a Green Margarita and it was absolutely delicious. The employee behind the counter instructed me to wait for a few minutes before ordering while he was cleaning up, which gave me time to look around. This place is wonderful. We got the summer berry smoothie and it was great. We saw the reviews on the outside of the store and all the negative and had to come in and try it ourselves. The atmosphere is great. The guy that runs it super funny and real. The only way you're gonna dislike this place is if you're a giant Karen and have no sense of humor and a giant stick up your butt. My husband toddler and I loved it and will definitely be back. Repeat offenders for the smoothies. I totally recommend this to everybody. The bad reviews are hilarious. I literally went just to see how accurate these bad reviews were be because it seemed comical. They couldn't be further from the truth and I was right. Andrew was nothing but a good host. I got the "basic bitch" pineapple and carrot juice which was delicious, chickpea curry salad, dried kale, and dried yam chips. Everything was legit and tasty as fuck. Racist!? lol you people leaving bad reviews probably need to take a good look in the mirror. Dorks! I didn't know what I was walking into today with my two kids until we were inside. I noticed the guy making the smoothie definitely had a "mean dude" vibe but I thought him too be very nice, especially around my two kids. I ordered a 24 ounce smoothie and he divided it in two for my kids. If the owners and employees sincerely believe what they say, and if how they treat people is a genuine reflection of their values, then those customers who "just want a smoothie" are advised to go elsewhere.  Otherwise, you will likely find that the branding, marketing, and many other things about this place are quite reprehensible and off-putting. One either rewards or rebukes businesses like this by voting with their dollars. For those unfamiliar with this business: The owner has been, and continues to be, 100% committed to (his, her, or whatever pronoun applies) "mean people inside" schtick since the business was founded years ago. The gimmick is basically to treat everyone rudely (occasionally even cruelly via Internet bullying) and for staff to comport themselves in a manner that many if not most people would find unprofessional and immature at best. The messaging and décor are a testament their commitment to some bizarre iconoclastic ideal that somehow "Being mean is more efficient". This has been and may still be literally one of their slogans. It's usually written in chalk, so I can't say if slogan remains proudly in place at the time you might visit. Should some rightfully offended customer (usually some poor soul who is not "in" on the joke - if that's what this is) call them out with a bad review, the owner or "manager" will frequently double-down by further demeaning them in a review response. I presume this is also the case if you call them out while you are in the store. In fairness I can't say if this is so. I can only speak to the lousy service and sub-par smoothie I received. Don't believe me? Check out their now closed Shoreline location on yelp. To make things easier, sort by the 1-star reviews. Enlightening to say the least. Since the employees of this establishment are also making your food, I would not advise playing along in a game of mean-spirited tit-for-tat in the off chance that you may actually offend one of them. Given their immature and lowbrow attempts at what I suspect is intended as humor, I'm not sure how this attitude translates to seriousness to which they take the food storage and prep... So, buyer beware! On the other hand, if this juvenile "meanness is funny and marketable" gimmick is simply their way of branding under the guise of "performance art", and if this kind of thing is right up your alley, then by all means - enjoy and have... fun... I guess? To keep the performance going and get more bang for your buck (unless you of course you claim you can't pay for your smoothie and get it for free, in which case, just more bang I suppose), be sure to write them a super negative review. This will keep the entertainment coming by way of colorful and mean-spirited responses that are thankfully highly unusual on Yelp.  I mean, they treat customers disrespectfully in person all day long.  They are literally treating folks like garbage and then setting the stage for customers to torch them so they can have some fun at customer expense and maybe go "viral".
