The best option turned out to be driving my car to a nearby shop to fix the tire -- and Kevin generously offered to follow me there to ensure I arrived safely. I got a screw in my tire on the rental. Yes, it sucks but was only leaking at 8psi/day. Well, today the screw came out after I parked. Rental company contacted Kitagawa, good to go. Dude was a D I C K H E A D. Super condescending. I run a huge construction operation, have full time mechanics, I could have EASILY changed the spare but my wife paid extra for roadside, so I used while we are at breakfast. Dude was such a B I T C H , and I'm sorry you couldn't sleep all day but after a couple small questions he told me to watch under the tree (across the street). If this short, fat, little man doesn't want to be in the SERVICE industry...he should quit. This chode parked the front tires on his flatbed to avoid cranking on a jack, didnt plug the original tire (even though he said "i am a towtruck driver" when I asked if he was going to plug it.). Told me i should have taken it back to the rental when I knew of the issue (like I wanted to drive 2 hours round-trip for this bs). This guy was just the biggest d o u c h e ive met on my trip. I was involved in a fender bender today that left my vehicle inoperable and myself pretty shook up. AAA contacted Kitagawa to tow my car. Lito called me shortly after that. I was so surprised; I was expecting that it would take hours. He let me know where he was, and how long it would take. Given that I had a ride home, he gave me clear instructions on how to leave my car and he would tow it as soon as he could. Less than 2 hours later my car arrived. Over the course of my lifetime, I have experienced a number of dead car batteries, lockouts, flat tires, etc. However, for the first time ever, I had a dead battery, in a rental car, sitting in a random parking lot, while on vacation. This was not on my itinerary! I've had AAA for a decade but haven't needed roadside service in at least 6 years. I called the out of state phone number on the back of my AAA card to file a service request. Within 5 minutes, I was called by the dispatcher for Kitagawa Towing and provided an arrival time estimate. They arrived promptly, provided efficient and professional service, and left with me feeling reassured. Now, because my rental agency apparently gave me a crap car, that battery died an additional two times before I was able to exchange the vehicle. So I got Kitagawa service a total of three times on this trip and each experience involved prompt service and a friendly technician! I hope you never require towing/lockout/battery/tire services while you are on vacation, but if it happens in Maui, this is the only place you should contact. read more

I am grateful for the Service I got from Wade Kitagawa. My van stalled while driving home after work last week about 11:00 pm. After calling my 24hr towing service, they notified me that no one was available to help in their network. After trying a couple other companies, with no success. I called Kitagawa Towing. The dispatcher is rude. They lied about time estimate si they woukd get the tow from AAA. Said 45-60mins and it ended up being over 3hrs. They had their driver go to other stops for tire changes, etc. so they could squeeze as many jobs as possible. read more

All I can say is wow. The guy that helped us was a complete a-hole dick. If there was an option for NO STARS this would be it. My brother's battery died, Nissan Quest van, while watching the sunset at Kamaole 2 with the music playing. He came back to the car and it wouldn't start. We called AAA because, well, that's what they are for right? Time: 8:26p. Anyways, after an hour of wait and no one reaching out for an ETA (as promised) I called back. They said Kitagawa would be calling us back right away as a wait time was like 65 mins. Like 10 mins later the phone rings and it was a guy (damn I didn't get his name). Older-ish Japanese local, maybe the owner, I don't know. Well, we discussed the situation and he said that it was the starter and that a jump wouldn't work. I said, the battery was brand new and it shouldn't be dead and he's been driving it fine, but sometimes it drains though as in the past (we have an electric seat in there that probably should be disconnected). He was adamant and annoyed when I said, just try and give us a jump, it has happened before and a jump worked. He continued by arguing that a jump wouldn't work, now with a full on attitude. It was 925pm. I told him, "Isn't that what you guys do, help people that need assistance? Why are you doing this to us? Come give us a jump!", I said. He said, "I'm not doing anything, I'm telling you a jump won't work...and what if a jump doesn't work then what?" I said, well, then we are back where we started! Then he said, clearly very annoyed now, that he'll be over and hung up. WTF! So like 45-50 more minutes, he finally speeds up in front of the van and stops, gets out with his gadget and presses the buttons and asks my brother to try to get the starter to turn over. He tries and of course nothing. He points to some lights on the gadget and says the battery is fine, it is something else and he can't tell what it is. So we look at each other and him and wait for suggestions. The guy is driving a tow truck for crying out loud with big TOWING letters. I say while looking at him, "well, I guess we have to leave it here overnight, windows down and hope it doesn't get broken into then...". Then I ask how much would it be to tow the van. He says, "You didn't call for a tow, you called for a jump!". Again. WTF! I said, well now we need a tow! O. M. G. Harrumph. He tells my brother to ride with me and he'll follow us. I had to make room in the passenger seat for my brother and bruddah just could not wait, so as I was doing so, he sped off and on the way by asks, no grunts, "What street you live on..." We navigate home and he finds us and he backs the van in close to the house, scaring my brother because it landed so close nearly hitting it and then sped off. Making loud noise, private road over speed bumps and all. What. An. Ass. Hole. If that was the owner, then wow. Just wow. If not, wow. Just wow. UPDATE: so today upon attempting an actual jump just now it started. All it took was a neighbor and no attitude. We could have driven ourselves home last night. M.f-er. Don't go to these guys! AAA will hear my angst also. God damn it. Bastard. He would have been perfectly fine leaving us stranded. read more

Called AAA because my truck wouldnt start. Wade Kitagawa was the contact tow company. I had to leave the truck to get to another appointment. Wade was awesome! He let me know when he was on his way, when he loaded the truck and as he drove down my street. He left it exactly where I wanted it on my property. He even sent me a picture of the truck at my home. Successful lockout and didnt cause any damage to my vehicle that was recently repaied after 808 towing damaged it then accused me of fraud on my claim. Its real, check their yelp reviews. Anywho, Wade taped the frame and used a cloth around his bar. So simple, so caring yet above and beyond. 808 Towing should take notes cause their owner Peter Darling does nothing to prevent damage or provide his drivers with the tools or education for a safe and damage free job. My teenage son and I got stuck in the Lahaina area during the fire. The roads were closed, power was out, and gas stations were all closed. When the fire hit downtown Lahaina, we tried to drive out, but only got as far as Olowalo before we ran out of gas. We thought we'd be spending the night in our car with one eye open for fires, but miraculously, Kitagawa the younger (it's a family operation) came out in the middle of the natural disaster to gas up our car. I've never been so happy to see a guy with a gas can in my life! Mr. Kitagawa called us up later that evening to recommend hotels and a community center where we could spend the night. It wasn't part of his duties as a AAA provider but he went out of his way to assist us. I needed a tow and it was dark outside and I broke down on side of Haleakala Hwy. I was so relieved when they got there within a half hour. Very nice. Super friendly. Unfortunately if your a AAA member you have to rely on these guys. Yes they did change my flat tire on my rental car but failed to check the air pressure in the spare. The next morning my donut tire had 3 pounds of air and had to wait 2 hours for these incompetent people to just fill my tire with air so I could drive on the spare tire. Like I said this is THE. If I could give no stars I would. I had a tow scheduled and I was told they allowed a rider I also notified AAA that I had a service dog . When the driver got here he refused to allow my service dog, I called the office and the dispatcher also said dogs were not allowed and they didn't usually allow people. This is the same women thst scheduled the tow and asked me if I would be riding along. Also I received a tow 4 days prior from this same company and myself and my dog rode with the driver. I informed her that it was a service dog and ADA law is that service dogs may accompany me anywhere. I asked her to check with her manger, she said she did and he also refused service with my service dog. I will be reporting them with the US Department of Justice, lawyers are specifically trained for breaking this law. Not that it matters but my service dog weights 7 lbs and is hypoallergenic. read more

Hey! Called AAA for a dead battery back at the end of October 2021 while we were camped out/parked on Highway 30, well south of Lahaina. I had almost no cell phone service and was in a kinda remote location - a place called "cut off rock" - And BOOM - within 10 - 15 minutes of my call to AAA Kitagawa Towing arrived - with a dude onboard and a Lexus in tow - to give us battery service - it took 30 seconds to jump our car and that was it. I asked him why they were so fast - they said because we were on a highway we were a priority call - versus taking your car/Lexus to get serviced on the other side of the island. This wasn't the first time we used Kitagawa but we wanted to write a review after this call because this service was egggcellent! read more

I had a flat tire, Geico arranged for road side service. Kitigawa was contacted. I waited over an hour, (it was Sunday 4pm) to have someone come help. I was okay with that, I understand it's a weekend, early evening. When driver arrived, I asked if he could put good tire on front and spare on back, all I got was stink eye! I didnt realize my spare was rotted out, never needed it in the 15 years I had the car. When I asked if it was safe to drive with it on and my grandson in the car, I was told "Yeah, can. Don't drive fast." The tire was splitting and peeling. He changed the tire and left. Long story short, another towing company was called and the driver was shocked I was told okay to drive car.
